BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Cares Krewe continued our educational adventures and helped Bossier Parish Schools prepare for the upcoming i3 Art Expo.
Bossier Parish students get surprises to help i3 Art Expo competition
The 5th Annual i3 Art Expo will be held from February 27 through March 1, 2025, at the Bossier Civic Center.
Part of the expo is an iCANstruction competition in which the Bossier Parish School Youth Engineers are building Louisiana-themed sculptures from canned food items to be judged and displayed at this year's i3 Art Expo.
The Cares Krewe visited R.V. Kerr Elementary, the home of the Kerr Kats, and discovered the bright young engineers were building a Mardi Gras king cake for their competition submission.
We learned about their sculpture, how they loved vegetables even in their king cakes, and delivered our canned goods surprise.

The Cares Krewe needed more schooling on how to analyze and build these canned-good sculptures, so we headed over to Haughton Middle School to learn more.
Haughton Middle School is building a Mardi Gras float for their submission to the i3 Art Expo.
Riley and Grant from Haughton Middle School, home of the Buccaneers, schooled Cares Krewe in the 'fire' vs. 'cringe' game.
Here's how it went:
Sweet peas= fire
Green beans= fire
Chicken noodle soup= fire and cringe
Riley and Grant shared how excited they were to partake in the upcoming competition and expo.
'Going to the competition. Competition and building and seeing all the other builds and everything,' said Riley about his favorite thing about the project.
'What I like most is probably being able to hang out with people, get, like, new friends, and just see the creativity of others,' said Grant.

It's Pride Month, which means the calendar is packed with Pride-themed events all over Minnesota. It's a month rich in comedy nights, parties, opportunities to build community, and places where LGBTQ+ history will be set in the spotlight. (Also, there will be places to cuddle kittens or watch costume-clad wrestlers rile up a screaming crowd.) To help you celebrate Pride Month in whatever fashion you prefer, here are some of the most alluring events taking place throughout June, right up to Twin Cities Pride, which closes out the month from June 27 to 29. Bernhard has been a singular and outspoken voice for decades, whether it was during her run on Roseanne as one of TV's only openly lesbian characters or more recent roles, like the upcoming Josh Safdie film, Marty Supreme. ($84.24–$141.92) June 17, at InBound Brew Co. in Minneapolis Pitch-A-Friend is a unique combination of a singles mixer and a game show. People take to the stage with a 3-to-5-minute PowerPoint presentation to pitch one of their single friends to a crowd of other singles. It's ridiculous and fun. The presentations are positive and heartfelt pitches for why you should date their friend. Pitch-A-Friend will also host nights on June 11 at Rail Werks Brewing Depot in Columbia Heights, June 27 at Wild Mind Ales in Minneapolis, and July 10 at Fat Pants Brewing in Eden Prairie. Every night is LGBTQ+-friendly, but the June 17 one is specifically the group's "Queer Night" event. (free) June 21, at Insight Brewing in Minneapolis Dubbed a "charity party for cats and queers," Insight is bringing back its patio party filled with vendors, artists, beer, and cats that need some scratches. The free event, cosponsored by Twin Cities Pride and Ruff Start Rescue, will have a "kitten snuggling booth" where 100% of proceeds for entering go toward supporting Ruff Start's shelters. There will also be live music from Daphne Jane, Riley Skinner, and Chastity Brown. (free entry) June 22, at First Avenue in Minneapolis Wrestling and pride? If that's surprising, you probably haven't been paying close attention to F1rst Wrestling or seen its "F1rst Wrestling Is For Everyone" t-shirts. Wrestlepalooza will include burlesque from Sweetpea and Co., music by The Denim Boys, and plenty of wrestling. Proceeds will benefit OutFront Minnesota. ($45.90) June 27–29, at Loring Park in Minneapolis Minnesota's largest free pride festival returns — sans Target — from June 27 to 29. It starts with the Twin Cities Pride Youth Night on June 27 from 4–8 p.m. Then the party runs throughout the weekend with three stages of entertainment, artists, more than 650 vendors, heaps of food trucks, a couple of beer gardens, a cannabis garden, and lots more around Loring Park. The festival still hasn't outlined all of the entertainment that will be happening, but that will undoubtedly be coming soon. And don't forget the Twin Cities Pride Parade. That'll roll down Hennepin Avenue from 3rd Street to Spruce from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (free) June 27, at Minneapolis Sculpture Garden A day before the Twin Cities Pride Festival takes over Loring Park, cross Lyndale Avenue to taste the wares from heaps of local craft breweries in some good company. ($59.43–$74.93) June 28, at First Avenue in Minneapolis Flip Phone, the Minnesota-founded event promoter that hosts drag brunches all year, has a lot going on in June. That includes this First Avenue party starring RuPaul's Drag Race vet Anetra. The full June lineup for Flip Phone is extensive, including more than a dozen drag brunches with themes like Prince, Bad Bunny, the 2000s, and Shrek vs. SpongeBob. It's also got a one-woman show with Suzie Toot, a Pride Parade viewing party, and a Pride Disco Block Party on June 29. ($29.12) Various dates and locations There are a lot of Pride-themed movie series playing in June. That includes series at The Parkway Theater and Alamo Drafthouse, as well as other locations. 50 Cent, Shreveport Mayor signs lease agreement for Stage Works
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson and Shreveport's Mayor Tom Arceneaux have officially signed a lease today for Stage Works. Mayor Arceneaux FaceTimed the multihyphenate, entertainment mogul, and entrepreneur to sign the lease. During the call, Jackson confirmed, 'When I get back, I'm staying in Shreveport.' The City of Shreveport states that the agreement represents a significant advancement in Jackson's ongoing growth in entertainment infrastructure and production investment. 'Shreveport has shown me nothing but love, and I'm proud to make this partnership official.
