Jean Paul Gaultier and Bratz Create Designer Doll That Celebrates ‘Radical Self-expression Through Fashion'

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier and Bratz have partnered for a limited-edition doll inspired by the idiosyncratic designer's vision. The House of Gaultier and the iconic Y2K fashion doll introduce a collector doll, which debuts Tuesday and will be available on Jean Paul Gaultier and Bratz's official websites. The collectible doll is crafted with Bratz's unique sense of style with Jean Paul Gaultier's signature design qualities. Bratz doll Sasha hits the runway and the street in a look that merges early 2000s sensibility with avant-garde elegance, staples of Bratz and the House of Gaultier. More from WWD Hill House Home, ViBi Venezia Step Into Summer With Floral Collab AllSaints and Williams Racing Collaborate on Formula 1 Collection EXCLUSIVE: Madison Keys Joins Brilliant Earth as a Brand Ambassador Ahead of U.S. Open, Talks Tennis Icons and Her Upcoming Jewelry Collection 'Bratz has always celebrated radical self-expression through fashion,' said Jasmin Larian-Hekmat, Bratz creative director. 'Partnering with an icon like Jean Paul Gaultier, who has consistently challenged norms and redefined style for decades, is a testament to Bratz's enduring place in the fashion sphere. This is Bratz at its boldest and most unforgettable.' The Bratz x Jean Paul Gaultier doll features a look inspired by Gaultier's ready-to-wear collections, with a playful nautical spirit and a chic punk twist. The doll's outfit features a crisp marinière crop top, a pleated tartan miniskirt with buckle accents, and a white sailor hat that sits atop Sasha's waist-length blond waves, embossed with Gaultier's name. Accessories for the doll include black cleated heels, metallic silver bag, earrings and sunglasses and safety pin detail on the skirt, also featuring Gaultier's name as part of the hardware design. 'This exclusive collaboration celebrates two icons of nonconformity, creating a collector's piece where Bratz meets the world of Jean Paul Gaultier,' the house of Jean Paul Gaultier said. 'Spectacular, avant-garde and outrageously iconic, Bratz x Jean Paul Gaultier is designed for true 'Enfants Terribles' only.' Bratz's Y2K sensibility has seen a major resurgence as various early aughts trends make a comeback into mainstream Gen Z fashion and street style. Last May, Urban Sophistication dropped their most recent partnership with Bratz, featuring the leather Anon Bag, and teasing forthcoming collaborations.
