Richard King will join St Mirren in a transfer coup for Stephen Robinson.
The Jamaica internationalist, 23, has chosen a move to Paisley after a nominal fee was agreed between St Mirren and Cavalier.
The player will travel to Scotland after the international break to finalise paperwork before the move is made official and announced.
King, who had been linked with Rangers in the January transfer window, will play in the Scottish Premiership in his first venture in UK football.
The centre-back, who is comfortable on the ball and offers a physical presence in defence, was snapped up by St Mirren with the club keen to finalise a deal after being alerted to his availability.
He is also highly rated and tipped for a big future by Reggae Boyz manager Steve McClaren.
It's understood the centre-back will join on an initial two-year deal with the club, holding the option to add a year.

Cavalier co-owner Rudolph Speid was advised on a transfer deal to St Mirren for the defender by Tony Finnigan. It's hoped the transfer will raise the profile of the largely untapped Jamaican market with King among the first of a crop of Cavalier prospects to make a move overseas.
King, who comes in to replace Richard Taylor at St Mirren, is thought to have had options in England, but a move to the SMiSA Stadium is viewed a the best fit for him at this moment in time.
It's anticipated that King will be given a better platform to perform in the Scottish Premiership and is excited at the prospect of proving his qualities in a new league.
The defender is a fully-fledged international for Jamaica and previously played alongside former St Mirren full-back Elvis Bwomono at IBV in Iceland.
King captained Cavalier to the league title in Jamaica and also led his side against an Inter Miami line-up featuring Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the Champions Cup.
