Uppu Kappurambu OTT release date OUT: Keerthy Suresh-Suhas film to stream on Prime Video from THIS date

Mint20 hours ago

The much-anticipated Telugu satirical comedy 'Uppu Kappurambu', starring Keerthy Suresh and Suhas, is set to make its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video on July 4, 2025.
Directed by Ani IV Sasi, the film brings together a refreshing blend of humour, social commentary, and eccentric characters, all set against the backdrop of a fictional Telugu village in the 1990s.
At the heart of the story lies an unusual and quirky conflict — the village graveyard is running out of burial space. This peculiar problem sets off a chain of comedic events as the villagers try to find practical (and sometimes bizarre) solutions.
Leading the charge is Apoorva, a newly appointed government official portrayed by Keerthy Suresh, and Chinna, the earnest graveyard caretaker played by Suhas. Together, they navigate the crisis while dealing with the idiosyncrasies of rural bureaucracy and community politics.
The film's trailer hints at an engaging narrative filled with sharp satire, unexpected twists, and a celebration of collective spirit in rural life. It also features a supporting cast including Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari, adding further layers of humour and emotion.
Keerthy Suresh, known for her intense and dramatic roles, steps into uncharted territory with a geeky, light-hearted character that has already caught the attention of fans. Her transformation into a slightly awkward, yet spirited bureaucrat marks a significant departure from her usual screen persona.
Described as a satirical take on burial practices in rural Andhra, 'Uppu Kappurambu' promises not just laughs but also a commentary on the intersection of tradition, administration, and community problem-solving.
With its unique premise and strong cast, 'Uppu Kappurambu' is shaping up to be a must-watch for Telugu cinema lovers when it arrives on streaming this July.

The first two seasons of Four More Shots Please! received positive reviews from critics. Viewers praised the show's stylish visuals, glamorous outfits and appealing locations. After three seasons, critics felt the characters should grow and take more responsibility for their actions. Will they? Fans will soon come to know.

Telugu star Nithiin lists 3 emotional reasons behind his hope for Thammudu's success

Telugu star Nithiin is going through a tough time in his career, but that has not stopped him from doing back-to-back films. Post the debacle of Robinhood, he is now ready with an action drama titled Thammudu, which is all set for release on July 4, 2025. Nithiin's next is Thammudu A fan of Nithiin? Stream his films, Sye and Bheeshma, on OTTplay Premium The noted actor spoke his heart out at the pre-release event of the film and stated that he wants it to become a hit for three reasons. The first being the director, Sreeram Venu, who has been working on Thammudu for the last two years. Then, Nithiin revealed that his fans have been waiting to see a hit from him for the longest time, and Thammudu will fulfill their thirst. Lastly, Nithiin added that the entire cast of the film shot for months together in dense forests, which took a toll on all of them. "Everyone associated with the film has worked hard on Thammudu. The film's story happens in a single night and has gruesome action sequences. The entire cast went through a lot of physical strain to bring the story alive. I promise that Thammudu will be one hell of an action drama filled with solid emotions and great performances," said Nithiin. Sapthami Gowda makes her Telugu debut with Thammudu Thammudu is quite special as it marks the comeback of yesteryear heroine Laya to the big screen after a long gap. Thammudu is based on her character, and Laya will be seen as Nithiin's sister in the film. Also, Kantara actress Sapthami Gowda is making her Telugu debut with this film, produced by Dil Raju. The makers have seen solid losses with Ram Charan's Game Changer and still spent close to ₹ 60 crore on Thammudu, despite knowing that Nithiin has not delivered a single hit in the last few years. That is the reason Nithiin openly admits he did not take any remuneration for the film and will only take a share in profits if the film clicks at the box office. Let's see what happens in the days to come.

Pushpa hits Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic gets a Telugu-themed shoutout as Allu Arjun's swag goes international

Ahead of his opening Wimbledon match against Alexandre Muller of France, tennis player Novak Djokovic became the subject of a surprising and creative tribute by the official Wimbledon Instagram page. The post featured a digital image of Djokovic styled with the iconic Pushpa title font, not in English, but in Telugu. The caption accompanying the post read, "Rukega nahi aur jhukega bhi nahi", echoing the now-famous line from the film. The crossover post immediately caught the attention of social media users and fans, with comments pouring in. One read, 'How is the official Wimbledon page so much in love with India?', while another tennis fan noted, 'Best. Post. Ever. As a Telugu tennis player, I'm over the moon.' Another user even asked, 'Hope Wimbledon page is not hacked? Telugu?' Actor Allu Arjun, who played the lead role in Pushpa, reportedly liked the post. Pushpa's global appeal continues to grow The Instagram post is another indication of how far the reach of Indian — and specifically Telugu — cinema has come. Pushpa, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Sukumar, has made an impression both in India and abroad. Known for its intense plot and stylised action, the film has already caught the attention of international celebrities. Previously, Australian cricketer David Warner recreated the popular hook step from the "Srivalli" song featured in Pushpa: The Rise. His tribute drew applause from fans across regions, reinforcing the film's popularity even outside cinema audiences. About Pushpa and its success story Pushpa was released in two parts — Pushpa: The Rise and Pushpa: The Rule. The films are produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Muttamsetty Media. Allu Arjun plays Pushpa Raj, a labourer who becomes involved in red sandalwood smuggling and faces off against SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, played by Fahadh Faasil, who made his Telugu debut with the film. Other cast members include Rashmika Mandanna, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Dhananjaya, and Rao Ramesh. Together, the two films have grossed over ₹1,642 crore (approximately USD 190 million), making it one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema. Allu Arjun received the National Award for Best Actor at the 69th National Film Awards for Pushpa: The Rise. Wimbledon's Instagram post highlights Pushpa's rising global presence and shows how Indian cinema continues to make unexpected crossovers.
