New Zealand Star Finn Allen, Who Went Unsold At IPL 2025 Auction, Breaks Chris Gayle's World Record
New Zealand's swashbuckling batter Finn Allen broke multiple records in the opening game of Major League Cricket 2025 - a franchise-based T20 competition in the United States. Playing for San Francisco Unicorns against the Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday, Allen went berserk and scored 151 runs off just 51 balls. His innings had a strike rate of over 296. The batter slammed five fours and 19 sixes during the terrific knock that was nothing less than a nightmare for the Washington Freedom bowlers. During the knock, Allen broke the record for the fastest 150 in T20 cricket. He reached the milestone in 49 balls. The right-handed batter smashed his ton in 34 balls, which turned out to be the fastest T20 hundred by a Kiwi batter and also the quickest in the tournament's history. Allen also broke the record of Chris Gayle and Estonia's Sahil Chauhan by hitting the most sixes in a men's T20 innings. While Gayle and Chauhan had hit 18 each, Allen surpassed both of them with a tally of 19. Finn Allen's out here breaking recordsHe smashed the fastest century in MLC history for the @SFOUnicorns! — Cognizant Major League Cricket (@MLCricket) June 13, 2025 "Was exciting (on making the fastest hundred in MLC history), off to a good start, found the boundaries regularly, we had a few partnerships and got a good score on the board. The boundaries are fairly decent," said the Kiwi batter after his fiery knock. Interestingly, just six months ago, Allen found no bidders at the Indian Premier League auction table. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, the New Zealand batter went unsold in IPL 2025 action that was held in November last year. In the same auction, India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant became the costliest player in the tournament's history. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. Following him was Shreyas Iyer, who was signed by Punjab Kings for a whopping sum of Rs 26.75 crore. The bidding war also saw Venkatesh Iyer being retained by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore.

NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers predicted to eye $27 million Dallas Mavericks star to support LeBron James and Luka Doncic and improve title odds
LeBron James and Luka Doncic (Image via Getty) The Los Angeles Lakers are exploring ways to strengthen their roster after a disappointing first-round playoff exit, and a trade for Dallas Mavericks wing Naji Marshall could be a key move. Los Angeles Lakers Need Reliable Role Players The Los Angeles Lakers struggled in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, managing just one win against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite strong performances from LeBron James and Luka Dončić. The lack of depth and reliable 3-and-D players was glaring, pushing the front office to seek upgrades. One potential target is Naji Marshall, a versatile wing who could provide much-needed defense and scoring off the bench. Why Naji Marshall Makes Sense for the Lakers Naji Marshall, who signed a 3-year, $27 million deal with the Mavericks last summer, had a solid season: - 13.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game - 55.1% effective field goal percentage - Peaked in March with 19.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game His ability to defend multiple positions and attack the rim makes him an ideal fit alongside LeBron and Dončić. How the Trade Could Work Naji Marshall (Image via Imagn) The Mavericks may be open to moving Marshall if they prioritize youth and draft picks. The Los Angeles Lakers could offer: Lakers Trade Package Dalton Knecht (No. 17 pick in 2024) Shake Milton (Expiring contract) Future first-round pick(s) As Dean Simon of the Sporting News noted in the original article: "The likelihood of Marshall landing with the Lakers admittedly comes down to whether or not the Mavericks' general manager Nico Harrison views his team as a true title contender." If Dallas decides to retool, this deal could benefit both sides. Marshall's Potential Impact in LA - Defensive Versatility – Can guard multiple positions, helping hide Dončić's defensive limitations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Made My Power Bill Drop Overnight elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Pre-Order Undo - Offensive Upside – Strong rim attacker with a reliable floater; improving as a catch-and-shoot threat. - Playoff Experience – Played meaningful minutes for Dallas, providing toughness in high-pressure situations. Key Areas Marshall Improves for the Los Angeles Lakers 1. Perimeter Defense – Lakers ranked poorly in defending guards and wings last season. 2. Bench Scoring – Marshall's ability to create his own shot adds depth. 3. Floor Spacing – If his three-point shooting improves, he becomes even more valuable. The Lakers need to make smart moves to maximize LeBron's remaining years. Trading for Naji Marshall could be a low-risk, high-reward move, giving them a two-way wing who fits well alongside their stars. Kaur wins bronze in 50m rifle 3P at ISSF Munich
Munich, June 12 (UNI) India's rifle shooter Sift Kaur Samra added another feather to her cap by clinching a bronze medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event at the ISSF World Cup 2025 here on Thursday. The 23-year-old, who had earlier scripted history with a world record at the 2022 Asian Games, exhibited nerves of steel during the final, scoring 453.1 to finish third in a high-pressure eight-woman contest. Despite being in the middle of the leaderboard after the kneeling and prone rounds, Samra showed tremendous grit and consistency in the standing series. Her series of well-timed 10s propelled her up the rankings, eventually placing her just 0.9 points behind silver medallist Emely Jaeggi of Switzerland (464.8). The gold medal was won by Norway's two-time Olympian Jeanette Hegg Duestad, who finished with a commanding 466.9. This marks Samra's second medal at a World Cup event this year. She had earlier struck gold in the same event in Buenos Aires, and finished with a bronze in Munich last year as well. Earlier in the qualification round, Samra had placed second with a score of 592. Fellow Indians Ashi Chouksey (589) and Anjum Moudgil (586) ended 11th and 27th, respectively, failing to qualify for the final. In the men's 10m air rifle, India had no representation in the final. Umamahesh Maddineni, competing for Ranking Points Only (RPO), placed seventh in qualification with 632.3. Ankush Jadhav narrowly missed the final after finishing 11th with 630.8, falling short by just 0.2 points. Olympian Arjun Babuta ended 43rd with 629.1. Samra's bronze was India's second medal at the ongoing Munich World Cup, following Elavenil Valarivan's bronze in the women's 10m air rifle on Tuesday. The Munich leg is the third stage of the ISSF World Cup 2025 for rifle and pistol shooters. India has made a strong impression this season with a total of eight medals, including four golds in Buenos Aires and seven medals in Lima. Nearly 700 shooters from 78 countries are competing in Munich. Individual gold medallists earn direct qualification for the ISSF World Cup Final to be held in Doha later this year. UNI BDN GNK
