Nothing Phone (3) Release Date: iPhone Challenger Confirms New Flagship Coming Soon
Tech innovator Nothing has just revealed that its anticipated smartphone, Nothing Phone (3), is nearly here. The company had previously said it would be this year and now it has revealed exactly when: Tuesday, July 1. If you click on to the company's website, you'll see the words 'Come to play,' along with the information, 'Phone (3). 1 July, 18:00 BST,' which tells us both the date and time of the announcement. It doesn't say where such an announcement will take place or whether it will be virtual or in-person, but a live event seems likely to me as Nothing has held such events before. As to location, Nothing is proud of being based in London, so the fact that the time is stated in BST makes me think that's where it could be held. The time of 6 p.m. BST, by the way, is 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m Eastern. The same time of day that Apple always uses to reveal its iPhones, for instance. And Nothing is often regarded as a challenger to the iPhone. The onscreen activity also includes an animated panel of a white dot matrix display on a black background, supplemented by quirky little noises that briefly conjure up classic video games such as Space Invaders. The same information is also hosted in a post on X. There's no further detail as to what this might mean, though Nothing had previously said on May 29, 'we killed the Glyph interface,' so this could be the replacement. In case you don't know, the Glyph system is a series of LED lights that shine through the transparent back of all Nothing Phone models, until now. The new phone, it seems, could feature a more advanced lighting array instead. On the website, there's also a button to sign up to find out more about the launch. Nothing has been growing fast, with two Nothing phones, Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, and one from its sub-brand CMF launched this year already. But the Phone (3) is the one that's been most keenly awaited. And now, here it comes.

The Nothing Phone 3 finally has a launch date
Supplied by Nothing TL;DR Nothing has confirmed that the Nothing Phone 3 is launching on July 1. The company reiterated that this will be a 'true flagship phone.' Nothing previously said the phone would cost £800 in the UK. Nothing previously confirmed that the Nothing Phone 3 flagship phone would launch in summer 2025. That's a vague window spanning from June to August. Now, the company has actually announced a launch date. Nothing revealed in an email and a press release that the Nothing Phone 3 would launch on July 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM BST (1:00PM ET). The company also noted in the press release that this was a 'true flagship phone.' In any event, the smartphone brand will be streaming its launch event on YouTube. The announcement also comes after the company dropped a few tidbits about the device. For starters, co-founder Carl Pei stated that the smartphone would cost £800 in the UK, matching the Galaxy S25's launch price in the region. Got a tip? Talk to us! Fears over bar in mill village opening later
A mill village on an "ale trail" could experience more anti-social behaviour if a bar is allowed to open later, an objector has said. Empire House in Slaithwaite, near Huddersfield, has applied to Kirklees Council to extend the hours it sells alcohol by an hour and trade until 23:00 BST seven days a week. The business is a workspace during the day and operates as a bar in the evenings, but an objection to the proposal has now been submitted on public safety grounds. The member of the public said the village was facing "considerable difficulties" caused by late-night drinking already. The current licence was first granted by the council in 2021, with representations expressing concern for public nuisance heard at the time, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. The applicant said the later trading option would only be invoked from Thursday to Sunday and "very rarely" during the rest of the week. The proposal has to be determined by Kirklees Council's licensing committee because of the objection being submitted. The opponent claimed that the community was facing problems particularly relating to the "ale trail" and large groups of "boisterous drinkers" congregating on Station Road. "We are deeply concerned that extended drinking hours could correlate with a discernible rise in alcohol-related anti-social behaviour such as audible profanities which we have previously experienced," the comment stated. "Such a development would directly undermine public safety within our community, creating an environment of increased fear and insecurity for residents." They added it would also place an "unwelcome burden" on law enforcement agencies. The village is on the Transpennine Real Ale Trail route between the railway stations of Stalybridge and Batley.
