No chips, no bacon and no sausages… Brit gran's holiday hell as she moans Corfu resort ‘didn't have any English food'
A BRITISH gran's dream holiday to Corfu fell flat because her all-inclusive resort "didn't have any English food" on offer. Susan Edwards, 69, from Westerhope, Newcastle upon Tyne, vowed she'll never book with TUI again after being less than impressed with the grub on offer. 5 5 Susan jetted off in May with three cousins and her daughter for a seven-night stay at the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel on the Greek island. They were looking forwards to a week of relaxation, but the ordeal "horrendous from the minute they got there," Susan said. After paying £750 each for the week, the sun-seekers were expecting slap-up meals and drinks on tap. But Susan told Chronicle Live: "There was no food we could eat and we couldn't have anything to drink. We had to pay €1.50 for water." After a tiring journey - and a long ramp to reach the hotel reception - they were more than ready for food and refreshment when they arrived at around 2pm. But, to their horror, hotel staff said food would not be served to guests until 5pm. And when it finally emerged, it was a measly "one-inch square of baklava", Susan claims. But that was just the beginning of her woes. The following day, the family discovered there was "no English food" on offer whatsoever. Instead, Susan said: "On a morning you could have toast, a hard-boiled egg, or something in sauce." Moment Brit passenger hauled off Ryanair flight heading to Corfu after mid-air brawl as plane forced to divert to Italy She continued: "For breakfast there was mozzarella and sliced tomatoes. There was no hot bacon or sausage." If there's one thing you expect wherever you go in the world, it's a plate of chips. But not so at the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel. Susan told the site: "We got chips one day. One day out of the whole lot. "There was fish, sardines and rice - I was sick to death of looking at rice. 5 5 "There was pasta and salads, none of this was marked [labelled]. One night there was a Greek night and they had kebabs, I couldn't eat that. "It's the worst holiday I've ever been on." There are some foods Susan can't eat because she has ulcerative colitis. And she didn't fair any better on the drinks front. The all-inclusive drinks were wine, lager, ouzo, or brandy. Susan would plump for a Bacardi and Coke, but her only option was to pay €9 for a knock-off brand. She said: "By the time we paid £750 for the holiday, €70 tourist tax for me and my daughter and an extra £450 for both of our meals, I could have been to the Caribbean on that." It was thumbs down for the hotel's facilities as well. Susan said there was no entertainment as the site, which is "stuck in the middle of nowhere", and the 150-yard trek down to the private beach was too steep to navigate. The family has travelled with TUI plently of times, usually to Spain, and they had always been reassured by the firm's experience in curating trips. But after the Corfu cock-up, Susan doesn't think she can stick with the company. They offered her £100 in holiday vouchers - but Susan claims some people were offered more after complaining and declined the olive branch. A TUI UK & I Spokesperson said: "Our priority is to ensure customers have the best possible holiday experience, so we are sorry to hear that Mrs Edwards felt dissatisfied with her holiday. We have been in touch directly with Mrs Edwards to come to a resolution."

Fuming Brits spot sunlounger hoggers seven HOURS before the pool opens – only to foil their plans
A BUNCH of Brits revealed the sneaky way they foiled sunlounger hoggers on holiday - who tried to steal bed spaces at 2AM. Mandy Boyd, from South Wales, was staying at Aquasol Aparthotel near Magaluf at the time. 5 5 5 While sitting on her balcony at 2am, she spotted some lads she thought were taking a cheeky dip in the pool. The 34-year-old quickly realised the young men were attempting to secure the best beds seven hours too early. The pool was not actually opening until 9am the following day. The group of four girls watched on as the lads pulled out their sunloungers to try and secure the best spots. Mandy and her friends quietly waited on the balcony for the perfect moment to run down and take the towels. Accompanied by her friend Sally Willows the pair got down to the pool and quickly snatched the towels on Sunday. She told Luxury Travel Daily: "I hate it when people reserve sunbeds and don't use them all day. 'I just find it really inconsiderate. 'It was shocking to see them reserving beds at 2am, especially when there was zero chance of those lads being up to enjoy them. 'We kept the towels but made sure we left them where they would find them.' 'You picked on the wrong person!' Watch the moment holidaymaker goes berserk when another woman sits on the sunbed she's 'been using all week' 5 Fellow holidaymakers applauded the girls' foiling of sun bed wars. Jo Townsend said: "Guarantee they wouldn't have come down to the pool until about 11am as well.' Sue added: 'You have taken sunbed wars to a whole new level.' Jaynie said: 'Well done ladies.' Lou said: 'B***** hell girls, this is taking sunbed wars too far.' One added: 'You should've left a ransom note.' Here are some other unusual methods people have used while trying to get a good sunbed in Spain. And it's not just Spain - a woman staying at a resort in Egypt was left fuming by 6:30am hoggers. 5
