FAMU women's tennis team claims the 2025 SWAC Championship; second title in three years
The Florida A&M women's tennis team has reclaimed the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship.
On Easter Sunday, April 20, the third-seed Rattlers beat the top-seeded Jackson State Tigers 4-2 in the SWAC Tournament's title match at New Orleans' City Park Tennis Center. It's FAMU's second SWAC title in three years, winning it in 2023.

The Rattlers beat No. 6 Southern 4-2 on Friday, April 18, and then the defending champions, No. 2 Alabama State, 4-3 to advance to the SWAC Tournament title match.

FAMU tennis' SWAC title win is the athletic program's 200th conference title. The FAMU men's golf team also celebrated a SWAC Tournament win this week, winning on Wednesday, April 16.
The Rattlers tennis SWAC Championship earns them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which runs from Saturday, May 3 to Sunday, May 4.

According to Texas A&M's media team, Shane Sinon, one of the lesser-known names on the coaching staff, who served as a graduate assistant under Williams last season, will now serve as McMillan's Assistant Director of Operations. According to Jaxson Callaway (AggiesToday), Sinon served as Buzz Williams' day-to-day assistant, also assisting in traveling and inventory for the program last season. Sinon appears to be a rising star in the coaching ranks and will serve under current Director of Operations Warren Fitzpatrick, assisting with team operations that include recruiting, finances, and media-based situations. This will likely finish out Texas A&M's 2025 basketball staff, which Bucky McMillan will rely on during his inaugural season and beyond. Texas extends offer to elite four-star 2027 DL DeMarco Jenkins Texas landed a commitment from four-star defensive tackle Dylan Berymon late Saturday night, their first at the position in the 2026 class. The Longhorns were doing work on the 2027 cycle this weekend as well. They extended an offer to four-star defensive lineman DeMarco Jenkins he announced via his social media after his visit. Jenkins now has 19 total offers. Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, and Houston have all offered and tried to keep him in the Lone Star State. Oklahoma and Nebraska are two of his other big offers. 247Sports composite rankings have Jenkins listed as the No. 272 overall recruit in the country, the No. 30 defensive lineman, and the No. 40 prospect in Texas. Jenkins had a pretty productive sophomore campaign for Pearland High School. He produced 27 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks. The next step for the Longhorns will be to get Jenkins on campus for an official visit. How the House Settlement will reshape Texas A&M athletics It's time for the universities and colleges to back up the Brinks trucks as they get ready to deal with all the financial obligations as a result of the House settlement approval on Friday evening. After years of lawsuits and the rise of NIL in college athletics, regulation is finally being introduced. However, the legal battles are far from over, and precedent-setting cases will likely continue for years. For now, we can examine how this approval, alongside the Texas bill, will shape Texas A&M athletics, particularly with universities now permitted to directly pay athletes. Financial Impact The most significant factor is money. The landmark case, approved by Judge Claudia Wilken, allocates $2.5–$3 billion to former players from 2016–2024 who were unable to benefit from NIL.
