There's a super cool new pop-up at the Louvre Abu Dhabi
Culture fans, this one's for you – and it's not just about the art. Louvre Abu Dhabi is playing host to a flavour-packed Filipino pop-up that promises to be as creative on the plate as the masterpieces lining the museum's walls. Kooya Filipino Eatery is stepping into the spotlight this summer for a culinary collaboration with the museum's café. Taking over for two weekends only – June 13-14 and 27-28 – from 6pm to 11pm, the Kooya x Museum Café pop-up brings the spirit of the Philippines to the capital with dishes that are deep-rooted in heritage and full of soul. At the helm is Chef JP Anglo, the celebrated chef behind Kooya and Sarsa in the Philippines. Known for reimagining classic Filipino comfort food, Chef JP is bringing a menu that hits all the right nostalgic notes, with a fresh twist. Starters include bulalo empanadas, crispy okoy fritters and golden-fried lumpia Shanghai. Mains dive deeper into tradition – think adobo fried chicken, slow-cooked beef belly caldereta, kare kare peanut stew and gising gising (that's veggies in coconut cream and fish roe, in case you didn't know). There's even a squid-ink version of palabok noodles for something a little different. Leave room for dessert – the halo halo here is a layered love letter to Filipino sweets, packed with yam, ice cream, shaved ice and a whopping 16 toppings. Plus, Silvanas make an appearance – those moreish buttercream sandwich cookies that melt in your mouth. Thirsty? The drinks menu doesn't disappoint either. Expect mixed drinks and mocktails inspired by the landscapes and flavours of the Philippines – including a basil cooler, pomelo and lemongrass iced tea with a hit of kaffir lime. Mark your calendars, book your table and come hungry – this is one museum night that feeds the senses in every way. June 13-14, 27-28, 6pm-11pm. Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island.
