New way to explore Glasgow to be unveiled next month
Following the successful launch of its app in Manchester last year, Glasgow is now the second city to receive its own set of curated tours exploring 20th-century landmarks across the City Centre and West End.
From June 6, four new tours will be introduced, inviting users to explore Glasgow's rich modernist and brutalist architectural heritage spread across the city's skyline.
Each carefully curated tour is designed to last approximately 90 minutes and is available to all users completely free of charge.

The unveiling of the app's expansion will take place as part of the Architecture Fringe festival 2025 at the Glasgow City Heritage Trust.
The four tours feature handily written explainers on interactive maps, curated by Jack Hale and Eddy Rheed, the two founders of The Modernist Society.
The tours feature a range of modernist landmarks from the Art Deco Beresford Building on Sauchiehall Street, the brutalist concrete murals of Charing Cross Station and the neon stars of the Barrowland Ballroom.
Eddy Rhead, co-founder of The Modernist Society, said: 'We were used to running a lot of walking tours in and around Manchester and they always proved to be really popular, but due to constraints like man-hours, resources, and simply time, we wanted to be able to reach more people quickly.
"That's why expanding the app felt like a natural step after seeing how well its launch was received last year. If you're from Glasgow or live here, you will recognise a lot of the buildings on the tour, but you won't necessarily know the stories behind them.

"The amount of care and thought that went into some of these buildings is phenomenal and a testament to their architects. We want to encourage people to walk around the city and look at things a little differently. You never know – maybe we can even help a few people to like modernist architecture a bit more than they did before?'
Devised and written by The Modernist Society founders Jack Hale and Eddy Rheed, the app has been designed and built in collaboration with Manchester and Leeds-based digital marketing agency Fablr.
The addition of the Glasgow tours has been made possible by a grant from the Glasgow City Heritage Trust.

Linwood - who is back in Scotland this week to launch the Stirling-based literary bash - said: 'I did that Zoom call with Steve for Bloody Scotland four years ago and that was the sweater he wore. 'I remember because I thought, 'what the heck is that?' as I had no idea of his football connection.' Advertisement Now after writing over 25 best selling crime books the former journalist will follow in his famous pal's footsteps with the release of his first horror novel called Whistle. It features a children's author called Annie Blunt who moves to a small town in upstate New York with her young son Charlie for a new start after the tragic death of husband. But when Charlie finds a forgotten train set in a locked shed in the grounds of their new house it sets in motion a disturbing set of events. However, Toronto-based Linwood insists he wasn't nervous even when he sent his first draft to the undisputed king of genre. Advertisement He says: 'I wasn't intimidated by that. I think the fact is that if you had told me 30 years ago when I was reading Steve's novels that I would even know his email address, never mind emailing each other, then I wouldn't have believed it. 'But Steve is very supportive and encouraging. I feel very privileged and lucky to have the friendship I have with him.' Linwood, 70, says: 'Every once in a while I get an email and it's like, 'are you watching this show, such and such?'. Advertisement 'I sent him a note last week saying 'If you've not watched it yet you should try Mobland (with Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy)'. I really hope they make a second season of it.' He adds: 'But it really is very troubling in the sense that I remember being at a book event a few years ago where all of the writers were sitting around saying 'are you watching this show?'. Nobody was saying, 'have you read this book?'. 'It just sort of hit us that the competition is not other writers, it's these TV shows where you can binge all this material at once. 'So I feel like you've got to write something that will make people stop streaming TV at least for a little while.' Advertisement Fans of Linwood's books, including The Accident, Elevator Pitch and Find You First, praise his explosive scenes. But the writer believes that is down to his love of 60s TV shows including The Man From U.N.C.L.E starring Scots actor David McCallum as Russian spy Illya Kuryakin. He says: 'That was my favourite show and from the age of 11, anything I wrote I was thinking of it like it was on a screen.' But the married dad could only dream of being a bestselling author when he grew up on his parents trailer park in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario. Advertisement In the early 70s when he was 16, Linwood ended up running the place following the sudden death of his father. He recalls: 'My mum managed it, but I did like, 90 per cent of the work. Including the daily task of burying fish guts, from the fisherman who had gutted their catch. 'I had to haul it out into the woods and bury it. So on days when the writing doesn't go well, I always think it could be worse. I could still be burying fish guts.' Linwood left the trailer park to begin a long career in newspapers until the publication of his first novel No Time for Goodbye in 2007 - which became an instant international bestseller. But now with his first horror novel he's hoping to emulate pal Stephen. The model train enthusiast says: 'My book starts off with a train set because it just doesn't seem fair to me that in the horror genre, when it comes to toys, it's always dolls that get to be evil or maybe a little mechanical monkey or a rocking horse. Advertisement 'So I thought, 'I wonder if I could make toy trains scary?'. I want this book to be able to do for toy trains what Chucky did for dolls and or what Stephen King did for clowns.' Families have a fantastic fun weekend at Drayton Manor thanks to Wishaw's DreamMaker Foundation
Nine children travelled with their families travelled by coach down to the Midlands Children from Lanarkshire were part of a group who enjoyed a fantastic fun trip to a theme park in the Midlands thanks to the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation. Nine children and their families travelled by coach to Drayton Manor Theme Park and Zoo in Tamworth on a summer trip for the weekend and had a magical couple of days, courtesy of the Wishaw-based charity. There were four DreamMaker children accompanied by their siblings and parents, two of the families were from Larkhall, with the others from Glasgow and Ayr. The Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation helps children with life-threatening illnesses, many of whom are going through gruelling treatments, to enjoy experiences such as days out and weekends away, and to meet celebrities. Charity Manager Angela Cook said: 'We left on Friday morning and had fun on the coach on the journey down with games and prizes and even DreamMakers Got Talent. 'After checking into the on-site Hotel, we spent all day Saturday in Drayton Manor Theme Park where the families had a ball enjoying all the activities and rides. 'We set a competition for the best photo with our wee Mr Wiz mascot and they all joined in, some of the photos were hilarious. 'On Saturday night we had a private room reserved where we had a DreamMaker party, where the real Mr Wiz and Les played games and competitions and we all ate pizza.' The families enjoyed another couple of hours in the theme park on Sunday before heading back home, happy. The charity covered all the costs for the trip, including coach, hotel, food, theme park and zoo entry and provided the kids with spending money. Angela added: 'This was one of the best trips I have ever been on. It was pure joy from start to finish. I want to thank all the DreamMaker Families for joining in the fun and games and making it so special for all the kids. 'Thanks to everyone who donated crisps, sweets, and juice for our goody bags, and to every one who donates into our buckets when we are out collecting.
