YWM Denies Involvement In Fundraising Scam Offering Cash Returns For Donations
KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM) has denied any involvement in fundraising activities that promise cash rewards in return for donations.
YWM, in a statement today, clarified that such activities were carried out by a scam syndicate misusing the names of YWM and the Tabung Musa'adah JAKIM-YWM to collect donations illegally.
'This scam uses an online marketing platform, where members of the public are invited to join WhatsApp and Telegram groups, and are then asked or coerced into making donations with the promise of cash rewards in return.
'YWM stresses that it has never entered into any form of collaboration, agreement or recognition with the online marketing platform for the collection of donations under Tabung Musa'adah JAKIM-YWM, Tabung Sa'adah JAKIM-YWM, or any other fund or waqf initiative organised by YWM,' the statement said.
YWM also reminded the public not to be deceived by any offers, invitations, or advertisements for waqf contributions via online marketing platforms, WhatsApp groups, Telegram, or any other unauthorised channels.
YWM also said that all official donation matters could be conducted through its official website: www.ywm.gov.my, as well as its official social media platforms: www.facebook.com/YayasanWaqafMalaysia (Facebook), www.instagram.com/YayasanWaqafMalaysia (Instagram), https://x.com/rasmi_YWM (X), and www.tiktok.com/@yayasan_waqaf_malaysia (TikTok).
According to the statement, YWM will not hesitate to take legal action against any parties found misusing the name of Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia or YWM products for fraudulent purposes.

Esteel's RM31 billion project a vote of confidence in Sabah's future, says Hajiji

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor has hailed the RM31 billion three-phase project by Esteel Enterprise Sabah Sdn Bhd as a major milestone for the state's economic development. He said it would generate jobs, foster innovation and support local businesses. Speaking at the launch of the project's Phase 1 at the Sabah International Convention Centre yesterday, Hajiji thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Singapore-based Green Esteel Group for backing Sabah's industrial ambitions. 'This project is not merely a financial commitment. It is a vote of your confidence in our vision and in our capacity to foster growth and development,' he said in his speech. Hajiji added that the steel manufacturing plant, located in the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip), is expected to create a wide range of 'ripple effects' in sectors such as green technology and local entrepreneurship. He said job creation must benefit Sabahans first and urged industry players to prioritise the training and upskilling of the local workforce. Teacher in Alor Gajah affair controversy lodges report over leaked video
ALOR GAJAH: A 31-year-old female teacher at the centre of controversy surrounding an alleged extramarital affair has lodged a police report, claiming that an intimate video of her has gone viral. Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the teacher lodged a report here recently as she was dissatisfied upon discovering that her intimate video had been circulated. He said police have opened an investigation under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. "However, we have yet to trace the video in question," he said on Saturday (May 31). Supt Ashari added that the investigation will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions. On Friday (May 30), the teacher and a male wiring technician were each fined the maximum amount of RM5,000 by the Melaka Syariah High Court for attempting to commit adultery. The case had previously attracted widespread attention on social media when the female teacher issued a public apology amid allegations of an affair with a 31-year-old married man, known online as "abang wiring". The matter sparked public outrage after screenshots of lewd and inappropriate conversations between the two went viral on WhatsApp.
