Rick and Morty's Showrunner Offers a Promising Update on the Wait Time Between Future Seasons
New episodes of Rick and Morty are just weeks away, something the show's legions of fans have been waiting eagerly for since late 2023. While that's about average for Rick and Morty wait times—or even on the shorter side; who else is still haunted by the gap between seasons three and four?—enduring 2024 without new portal gun antics and Jerry being Jerry was still rough.
There were some behind-the-scenes reasons for that—the industry strikes of 2023, which naturally impacted many Hollywood release dates—but fortunately, things are on a faster track for the show's future.
'We're now through writing season 10,' showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder told io9 at a Rick and Morty press day. 'So we've got a cool view of the whole front 10. We definitely have cool things ahead.'
Being almost through writing season 10 is amazing. But what about season nine, since season eight is on the horizon?
'It is almost entirely into color, which is the last stage,' Marder confirmed. 'I mean, we're through all the heavy lifting on it. It's an excellent season. We just started production on season 10, which is also an excellent season. You should be getting every [new season] a year [after the last one].'
That is especially fantastic news when you consider Rick and Morty has already been renewed through season 12. Rick and Morty season eight begins May 25 on Adult Swim.

Cole Escola Sets The Record Straight About Nicole Scherzinger Tonys Joke
Cole Escola is making it clear that a joke they made at this year's Tony Awards was not an intentional dig at Nicole Scherzinger. During Sunday night's ceremony, Cole picked up the award for Best Actor In A Play for their hit show Oh, Mary!. While they were speaking to the press backstage, the winner of Best Actress In A Musical was announced, and when it was revealed that Nicole was the recipient, they quipped: 'The speculating is over… four more years.' Cole Escola reacts to Nicole Scherzinger winning a Tony last night:'Four more years' — Pop Crave (@PopCrave) June 9, 2025 Many interpreted this as shade at Nicole, who last year found herself at the centre of backlash when she interacted with several social media posts that appeared to endorse Donald Trump (she later apologised 'for the hurt caused' by her social media activity, insisting that the 'many presumptions' that were 'being drawn' about her did not 'reflect who I am, what I stand for, or who l voted for'). Posting on their Instagram story on Tuesday night, Cole insisted: 'When I made that joke when I said, 'four more years, four more years', I meant it like, 'well, she won, she's who we've got for the next four years', as if I think winning Best Lead Actress In A Musical is the same as winning a presidential election.' In their signature semi-ironic style, they then remarked: 'But you know, people just want to pit us Broadway gals against each other. And I think it's sad. 'My only sort of beef right now is with Michael Arden [the director of Maybe Happy Ending, the top winner at this year's Tonys]. And I don't want to get into it, actually. But that story's going to break tomorrow.' Cole Escola explains their alleged joke about Nicole Scherzinger winning Best Leading Actress in a Musical at the Tony Awards — Portal Nicole Scherzinger (@PortalNicole) June 10, 2025 In her apology post last year, which came a week after the US presidential election – Nicole said: 'Many of the marginalised communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most. I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career. If you know me, you know that.' Hailey Bieber Confirms Her Favorite Animal Print for Summer
When spending the festive and ski seasons in Aspen, you can usually find Hailey Bieber ensconced in cozy coats, usually an animal print, by way of vintage Ralph Lauren or Saint Laurent. Now we've officially hit warmer weather and the knell for summer will soon toll on the fast approaching solstice, Bieber continues to hold onto her leopard print allegiance. Yesterday (June 10), Hailey Bieber made her first public appearance since closing her major deal on her beauty and skincare behemoth brand Rhode. The beauty mogul took to the stage of The Business of Beauty Global Forum to discuss her brand's acquisition for a cool billion. And of course, for the occasion, Bieber wore Saint Laurent—as a close friend of creative director Anthony Vaccarello, even recently presenting him for an award for his own achievements, and as an ambassador for the house. The recent Vogue cover star opted for a leopard print crepe mini-dress with an open back and ruched front, with black open-toed pumps. Bieber wore her hair in a middle part, curled delicately to the ends. Her nails were a soft, pale pink, and her makeup was minimal—maybe a hint of Rhode's pocket blush in Piggy. The mini-dress is a Bieber staple, usually paired with a sleek pump and a set of dark sunglasses. Saint Laurent is an obvious go-to, but Bieber and her stylist Dani Michelle have also surfaced some major mini archive finds, like a Tom Ford-era, icy blue number. It's long been the time of the LBD, the animal print trend is proving itself transeasonal—and the Little Leopard Dress is a statement maker like no other.
