Kinfra denies RTI request on land bought by Nirmal Krishna deposit fraud accused
Thiruvananthapuram: Nirmal Krishna Nikshepa Samrakshaka Samithi has alleged that Kerala State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation ( Kinfra ) authorities have denied them details on the land purchased by the key accused in the Nirmal Krishna deposit fraud .The samithi members claimed that they sought the details through RTI, but the applicant received a call from an official from Kinfra stating that a lack of sufficient documents prevented them from sharing the information sought.However, Kinfra CEO Jeeva Anandan claimed ignorance about the application, which TOI possesses. "They might have filed it at the head office. I will check about the delay to comment on it," said Anandan.The samithi alleged that K Nirmalan, the key accused in the deposit fraud, acquired 50 cents of Kinfra land by defrauding a woman entrepreneur. The accused allegedly paid Rs 73 lakh for the land to Kinfra which was already in the woman's name.They alleged that Kinfra land was bought by Kanyakumari Exports Pvt Ltd, owned by the accused, by flouting all norms. In the RTI, the samithi sought details on the agreement between Kinfra and Kanyakumari Exports, including who signed the pact.Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the woman entrepreneur Usha Umesh tried to occupy the land. This led to a conflict between the accused and the woman. The woman alleged that even though the district collector has directed the city police commissioner to provide necessary police protection to her, the police were not even willing to reach the spot due to the political influence of the accused.

QR code swapping fraud: Probe team to verify account statements
T'puram: Museum police have requested the banks to share the account statements of the accused in the case registered on the complaint of actor-turned politician Krishna Kumar . It was alleged that the staff of his shop, co-owned by his daughter Diya Krishna Kumar, snatched Rs 69 lakh by swapping the QR scanner for receiving payments from customers. The probe team is also planning to conduct an audit at the shop named 'Oh By Ozy', an imitation jewellery shop near Christ Nagar School, Kowdiar. This will be done with the help of a govt agency to verify the allegations raised. Museum police constituted a special team, headed by station house officer Vimal S, with sub-inspectors Shiju V L and Vpin G S in the team. The bank statements will help police confirm whether the allegation raised by Krishna Kumar is true. As per the complaint, the staff of the shop, Vineetha, Divya and Radhakumar, placed the QR code scanners of their personal bank accounts for receiving payments from customers from July 2024, when Diya and Krishna Kumar were away from the shop. Krishna Kumar presented CCTV visuals at the shop as evidence for the allegation and also the video of the accused admitting to swapping the QR code scanner. Meanwhile, the accused also filed a complaint against Krishna Kumar and Diya, alleging that they were abducted, extorted for money and threatened. After the fraud came to light, Krishna Kumar and Diya held a meeting with the accused to settle the issue. The accused reportedly paid Rs 9 lakh after admitting the crime. "The account statements of the accused are crucial in the case as they will help unfurl the truths. The account statements of Krishna Kumar and Diya are also requested. As per the complaint, the crime took place over a 10-month period from July last year. It means there could be a turnover of Rs 7 lakh per month, and it has to be proved by taking the account statements of Krishna Kumar and Diya," police said.

BENGALURU: Struggling to come to terms with the tragedy that has struck them, the families of the victims of the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium have one question: "Who gave permission for the entire victory celebrations that claimed our loved ones?" Ashwini UL, mother of one of the stampede victims, Divyanshi, asked: "My first question to the govt is who wanted this function? What was the need for arranging the felicitation function in front of Vidhana Soudha or announcing the roadshow and organising a victory celebration function in the stadium on June 4 when the entire city celebrated the victory overnight till the early hours? Why didn't the authorities make arrangements before inviting fans?" Not just Ashwini, the families of the 10 others who died in the stampede are searching for similar answers. Though chief minister Siddaramaiah has blamed police and maintained that nothing untoward happened during the felicitation attended by him in front of Vidhana Soudha, the families aren't convinced. Lakshman, unable to come to terms with his son's death, was found lying on his son's grave in his family farmland in Hassan district, crying in grief. He said, "I have earned crores for my son. But now he is no more. The govt is solely responsible for his death."
