San Francisco Unicorns
The San Francisco Unicorns have experienced a tale of two seasons in Major League Cricket (MLC), going from early struggles in the inaugural 2023 edition to emerging as strong title contenders in 2024.
While their first campaign ended in disappointment, the Unicorns staged a commendable turnaround in the second season, reaching the final and finishing as runners-up.

2023: A Faltering Start
The Unicorns began their MLC journey with a promising 22-run victory over eventual champions MI New York. However, consistency eluded them as they suffered a 35-run defeat to Seattle Orcas in the next game.
A 21-run win over LA Knight Riders briefly revived their campaign, but it turned out to be their last win of the season.
Back-to-back losses to Washington Freedom (by 30 runs) and Texas Super Kings (by 3 wickets) ended their playoff hopes. With just two wins from five matches, the Unicorns finished fifth in the six-team table.

They began their campaign with a confident six-wicket win over LA Knight Riders. Though they lost their second match to Texas Super Kings by seven wickets, it proved to be their only defeat in the league stage.
A rain-abandoned game against LA Knight Riders was followed by a strong winning streak — the Unicorns notched four consecutive wins against Seattle Orcas (by 23 runs), MI New York (by 3 runs), Seattle Orcas again (by 6 wickets), and Washington Freedom (by 6 wickets via DLS).
This surge helped them finish second on the points table with five wins from seven matches.
In the playoffs, the Unicorns lost the Qualifier to Washington Freedom by seven wickets but rebounded by defeating Texas Super Kings in the Challenger by 10 runs. However, their title hopes were dashed in the final as Washington handed them a crushing 96-run defeat.
Despite falling short in the final, the season marked a major improvement. Finn Allen led the batting charts for San Francisco with 306 runs in nine games, while Hassan Khan impressed with 10 wickets, underlining the Unicorns' evolution into genuine MLC contenders.

CSK fan club's 2024 warning goes viral after stampede at RCB IPL 2025 celebration
NEW DELHI: A chilling old warning issued by a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fan club in 2024 has resurfaced and gone viral in the wake of the tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 victory celebrations that left several people dead and many others injured. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now RCB clinched their maiden IPL title by defeating Punjab Kings in the 2025 final, prompting massive celebrations in Bengaluru. However, what should have been a historic moment for the franchise turned into a disaster as a stampede broke out during the team's celebratory parade, resulting in loss of lives and widespread injuries. In the aftermath of the tragedy, fans on social media have revived a 2024 post from a CSK fan account, which had warned about the lack of safety for women and families at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during IPL matches. "To our fans who came and supported us today at Bangalore. Hope you reached home safe! Forever grateful for your love and support! However, with the treatment we witnessed towards all the women, children and families, this is shambles. This is not the Bengaluru we knew. What we can say is that Bengaluru is NOT safe for any women to watch an IPL game in Chinnaswamy if you are not part of the local fandom. The security and fan behaviour is a letdown beyond words and imagination," the original post from 2024 had stated. Now, in light of the recent tragedy, the same fan account has reposted their warning, expressing frustration over how their earlier concerns were dismissed. 'A particularly special feeling': Andy Flower hails Virat Kohli, RCB after historic title win 'Lot of engagement from fans on this old tweet. Yes, we did raise concerns about security and safety back in 2024! Instead of the RCB management acknowledging the problem and facing it, trolls came for defence with responses like 'where is the proof', 'sore losers', 'use burnol', 'sympathy', 'this is not harassment', and what not! "Unfortunately, what happened in 2025 could have been easily avoided if only there was responsibility, attitude, and intention to acknowledge reality!' the CSK fan club posted on Thursday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The resurfaced post has sparked a fresh debate on fan behaviour, security lapses, and event management during high-profile cricket events in India — raising difficult questions for RCB and local authorities to answer. IPL champions RCB announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the 11 supporters, who lost their lives in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team's IPL victory celebrations. "The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family," RCB issued a statement on social media on Thursday. "As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of Rs 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident," it added. More than 50 people were injured in the incident.

"Overpaid...": RCB Legend AB De Villiers' Shock Revelation After IPL 2025 Triumph
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title on Tuesday, as they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final. Despite having had exceptional T20 cricketers like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers in the past, it was the first time in 18 years that RCB won the title. While Gayle and de Villiers were present to celebrate with RCB, former India cricketer-turned-broadcaster Abhinav Mukund revealed an interesting remark that de Villiers had made to him, where he had said that he felt he was overpaid during his time as a player in the IPL. "I was sitting next to AB de Villiers and he told me something that I don't think any legend in the IPL has said. But he genuinely meant it, he said it from a place of emotion. He said 'I was overpaid'," Mukund revealed. "I'm overpaid, I thought I was overpaid because I feel like all of the other elements that you're talking about, right? Where you're able to buy so many other superstar players, all those match winners you're talking about. The highest amount of money that they spent on was for someone like a Phil Salt or Josh Hazlewood. They didn't cross 15 (Rs 15 crore)," was what de Villiers had told Mukund, as revealed by the latter. De Villiers was retained twice by RCB ahead of a mega auction over the course of his 11-year stint with the franchise. In an era where valuations where lesser, de Villiers was retained for Rs 7.50 crore and Rs 11 crore in 2014 and 2018 respectively. While RCB did not spend Rs 12.50 crore on any player at the mega auction, they did retain Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore. They also went up to Rs 23.50 crore to try and get Venkatesh Iyer, who landed up in Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore. Mukund stated that not getting Venkatesh ended up working in RCB's favour, given that he scored just 142 runs in 11 matches in IPL 2025. "In hindsight, they must be thinking, thank God we didn't go all the way from Venkatesh Iyer. Because their last losing bid was Venkatesh Iyer. And the next three buys were Josh Hazlewood, Jitesh Sharma and I think Phil Salt. Those were the next three buys. And they saved so much in the bank for day two when Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in," said Mukund. Listen to the latest songs, only on

RJ Mahvash Shuts Down Troll Over Yuzvendra Chahal Link: ‘Your Knowledge Is Nil, Chotu'
RJ Mahvash is not here for unsolicited commentary especially when it comes to cricket or Yuzvendra Chahal. After sharing an emotional tribute to Punjab Kings and revealing that Chahal played IPL 2025 with three fractures, Mahvash became the target of a troll who questioned her credibility as a cricket follower. But the popular content creator and presenter gave it back with a response that's now winning the internet. 'She's just grabbing followers in the name of Yuzi. I bet she even started watching cricket recently," wrote an Instagram user under her post, suggesting Mahvash was faking interest in the sport. The comment quickly drew attention, and so did Mahvash's epic comeback. 'I have been hosting cricket since 2019, your knowledge is nil chotu! Research!" she replied, along with a facepalm emoji. The fiery response earned cheers from fans, with many calling it a 'savage reply."
