Georgia Harrison says she is 'beyond honoured and grateful' after being awarded MBE for campaigning on violence against women following ex Stephen Bear's imprisonment

Daily Mail11 hours ago

Love Island star Georgia Harrison has made history becoming the first contestant from the hit ITV show to be awarded an MBE.
The reality star, 30, was recognised in the King's honours list for her powerful campaigning to crack down on revenge porn, following the horrifying ordeal with her ex-boyfriend, Stephen Bear.
Stephen - famed for his appearances on TV show Ex on the Beach - was sentenced to 21 months in March 2023 after a jury found him guilty of voyeurism and disclosing private, sexual photographs and films after he leaked a sex tape of Georgia.
Georgia, who's currently expecting her first baby, bravely spoke out after Stephen was convicted for posting the explicit video online without her consent, a case that sparked national debate and led to real legal reform.
After hearing the news that her campaigning efforts have now been officially recognised by King Charles, who awarded her the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) honour, Georgia took to social media to thank her fans and supporters.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
She said she was 'so grateful' for the recognition after sharing her painful journey publicly.
The TV star penned: 'I am beyond honoured to be listed to receive an MBE!!
'I'm so grateful to anyone who has reach out to congratulate me and also to all of you who have shared and continue to share your stories with me along the way.
'I am continuously reading them all, taking on board your experiences and using them as both fuel and knowledge for my campaigning.'
She added: 'My experience changed me in many ways but one of those ways was that I became a voice for the women that can't be heard.'
Promising to always help others wherever she can, Georgia finished her post saying: 'I always promise to rise to the opportunities that seek my help within regulating the digital space and do my best to make change where possible ❤️'
Fans and fellow celebs flooded her social media with messages of support after the announcement writing: 'You deserve it ❤️❤️❤️'
'Incredible Georgia and just look at you now mate'
Fans and fellow celebs flooded her social media with messages of support after the announcement
'YESSS you deserve this so much darling ❤️ forever proud of you!! Xx'
'So important, I love all the work you're doing. I hope it keeps more women safe, and provides relief for those who experienced a violent sexual act.'
'Congratulations, you truly are an amazing young woman and so inspiring to many others'
'Never doubted for a second that you'd come this far and make such a difference & show the world your strength forever proud G❤️'
Since the horrendous ordeal, Georgia has become a fierce advocate for victims of image-based abuse, playing a key role in changing public attitudes and pushing for tougher laws.
After serving just half of his prison time, Stephen was released in January, but Georgia continues to campaign for women and girls following the painful 'violation' of her privacy.
The TV star has been at the centre of two ITV documentaries, Revenge Porn, and Porn, Power, Profit, which explored both her own personal experience and how predators make money from the industry.
Speaking in Revenge Porn, Essex-born Georgia said: 'Two years ago, my life changed forever when CCTV footage of me having sex with Stephen Bear went viral. He filmed and shared it without my consent then tried to deny it was me…
'I think I expected some form of empathy, remorse, maybe that he would realise what he had done… what a slap in the face that on top of everything, he thought he could lie his way publicly through this.
On her decision to waive her right to anonymity, Georgia said ahead of speaking in court: 'Hopefully one day, girls can look at me and think 'She went in there and done it, she was strong. We can do it.''
Georgia first found fame on reality series TOWIE in 2014 but her following grew thanks to her 2017 appearance on Love Island.
The TV star, who's also appeared on The Challenge and Celebrity: SAS Who Dares Wins, returned to the dating series this year for Love Island: All Stars, where she made the final.
She announced in April that she and boyfriend Jack Stacey are expecting their first baby together following a 10-month whirlwind romance.
