Saudi Arabia stationed a mobile McDonald's truck outside its Royal Court ahead of US President Donald Trump's arrival, in what many online called the 'ultimate sign of hospitality.' The double-decker unit—branded in both Arabic and English—quickly drew attention as journalists spotted the fast-food installation near the media hub known as 'Media Oasis.'Mike Wagenheim, a journalist with i24NEWS, confirmed the sighting on social media. 'Yes, it's a mobile McDonald's here in Riyadh,' he posted on X.This unusual setup, parked strategically near the venue hosting global media, added a surreal twist to a visit that was otherwise dominated by billion-dollar agreements and state-level diplomacy. The McDonald's truck was no coincidence. Trump's love for fast food, particularly McDonald's, is well known. He famously served fast food during White House banquets in his first term, and in October 2024, he was seen serving fries at a McDonald's outlet in Pennsylvania during his campaign. Though the restaurant chain stated it was not involved in that appearance, the association remains strong. In Riyadh, Saudi authorities appeared to tailor even the smallest details of Trump's visit to his preferences. A user on X summed up the public reaction, writing: 'PLEASE tell me the Saudis are going to offer him some McDonald's. The ULTIMATE sign of hospitality.'Trump's arrival on 13 May was met with full ceremonial honours. American and Saudi flags lined the roads. American-made police vehicles were visibly stationed across key locations. The moment Trump landed, he was greeted personally by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the tarmac—an honour rarely extended to visiting leaders.Inside the airport's grand ceremonial hall, the president and his aides were welcomed with traditional Arabic coffee, served by attendants wearing ceremonial belts.Prince Turki al-Faisal, former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to both the UK and US, told Arab News: 'Our doors and hearts are open to you.'The warm welcome wasn't just symbolic. Riyadh and Washington signed a massive $142 billion defence sales agreement, described by the White House as the largest in history. The deals include cutting-edge equipment and services from US defence firms and form part of a broader $600 billion Saudi commitment to invest in the American economy. The agreements didn't stop at defence. Both nations signed memoranda of understanding covering joint training of Saudi forces, cooperation in infectious disease research, and collaboration between customs and law enforcement agencies—including a partnership between the Saudi Ministry of Interior and the FBI.US-made General Electric turbines worth $14.2 billion and Boeing 737-8 aircraft worth $4.8 billion are also part of the deal.During a bilateral meeting, President Trump and the Crown Prince made brief remarks to the press. Trump said: 'I really believe we like each other a lot.'Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih echoed the mood at the Saudi-US Investment Forum , saying: 'Our bilateral relationship is one of the world's most significant geostrategic bonds, with economic cooperation and business partnerships at its core, and serves as a force for peace and global prosperity.'Commenting on the visit, Mona Yacoubian, Director of the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told Newsweek: 'Trump's trip to the Gulf is a harbinger of this administration's foreign policy over the next four years: transactional rather than transformative, personality-driven, and crowned by headline-grabbing economic deals.'Trump's delegation includes top officials such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. Tesla CEO and Trump adviser Elon Musk is also present and expected to speak at the investment forum.Trump's Middle East tour continues with planned visits to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates later this week. Both countries are expected to sign major trade and investment agreements, with Trump targeting deals that could reach a cumulative value of over $1 trillion. As for the mobile McDonald's in Riyadh, it remains unclear whether the president actually ordered a Big Mac. But as far as diplomatic gestures go, the Saudis made sure that even Trump's palate felt at home.

‘Our victory will be your victory': Israel's Netanyahu lauds Trump's backing of Iran strikes
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent effusive birthday wishes to US President Donald Trump on Saturday, praising him as a staunch ally as Israel continued to bombard its arch foe Iran. read more This handout picture released by the Iranian Red Crescent on June 14, 2025, show Iranian Red Crescent volunteers working in a Tehran neighbourhood hit by a reported Israeli strike. (Photo by Iranian Red Crescent / AFP) Israel's air strikes on Iran had the 'clear support' of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday, saying 'Our victory will be your victory. There had been reports in the Israeli press of friction between the two men in recent weeks as Netanyahu threatened to attack Iran, even as the U.S. was in talks with Tehran to secure restrictions on its long-contested nuclear programme. However, within hours of Israel launching its large-scale assault on Friday, Trump said the attacks were 'excellent' and 'very successful'. Netanyahu responded on Saturday by showering the U.S. leader with praise. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Happy Birthday to you, President Donald J. Trump,' Netanyahu said in a statement. 'You've been an extraordinary leader, decisive, courageous, with a clear vision and clear action. You have done great things for Israel.' With Israeli warplanes attacking sites linked to Iran's atomic programme, Netanyahu framed the operation as part of a broader struggle between free societies and a 'criminal regime in Iran' that seeks to export violence across the world. 'Our enemy is your enemy… We're dealing with something that will threaten all of us sooner or later. Our victory will be your victory,' Netanyahu said in a video statement addressed to Trump on the US leader's birthday. 'This is what Israel is doing with the support, the clear support of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the American people and many others in the world.' Iran has repeatedly denied Western accusations that it has covertly sought to develop nuclear bombs and it has accused the U.S. of being complicit in Israel's attacks this week – something Washington has rejected. Netanyahu also extended birthday congratulations to the U.S. military on its 250th anniversary, calling American troops 'guardians of freedom for two and a half centuries'. ‘No Kings' protests: Anti-Trump erupt across US as military parade looms; officials urge calm
Tens of thousands of protesters rallied across the United States on Saturday under the banner of 'No Kings,' denouncing President Donald Trump's leadership as he prepared to headline a massive military parade in Washington to mark the Army's 250th anniversary — which also coincides with his 79th birthday. While no demonstrations were scheduled in the capital itself, rallies swept through nearly 2,000 locations nationwide, from bustling cities to small-town parks. In Philadelphia's Love Park — site of the flagship rally — light rain didn't deter crowds from chanting, singing altered lyrics to 'Y.M.C.A.,' and waving protest signs. Some signs read 'Fight oligarchy' and 'Deport the mini-Mussolinis.' Others addressed immigration with slogans like 'The wrong ice is melting. ' 'It's about defending democracy,' said Karen Van Trieste, a 61-year-old nurse from Maryland who returned to her hometown of Philadelphia to join the protest. 'There's just too much going wrong under this administration.' In Atlanta, the 5,000-person capacity rally outside the state Capitol quickly reached its limit, with overflow crowds spilling onto surrounding streets. A drum circle beat in front of Los Angeles City Hall, while in Charlotte, North Carolina, demonstrators shouted, 'We have no kings.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Live Comfortably: 60 m² Prefab Bungalow for Seniors in Masazir Pre Fabricated Homes | Search Ads Search Now Undo National Guard mobilised amid warnings The 50501 Movement, organisers of the 'No Kings' campaign — a nod to 50 states, 50 protests, one movement — said the effort is aimed at resisting what they describe as Trump's 'authoritarian actions.' The protests come in the wake of widespread anger over recent federal immigration raids and Trump's deployment of National Guard troops and Marines in Los Angeles. In response, governors in Virginia, Texas, Nebraska and Missouri activated the National Guard. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin warned, 'If you violate the law, you're going to be arrested.' In Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis cautioned protesters not to cross the line near Mar-a-Lago, where a march is planned. Missouri's Mike Kehoe said his state would not 'wait for chaos to ensue.' Some law enforcement agencies, such as California's, placed their officers on tactical alert, cancelling all scheduled leave. In West Virginia, the National Guard was also put on standby. Local officials urge restraint Democratic governors urged protesters to remain peaceful. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said security preparations were in place for what could become a 100,000-strong crowd in Philadelphia. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs and Washington state's Bob Ferguson both called on protesters to avoid violence, with Ferguson warning against giving Trump a reason to deploy federal forces. In Tallahassee, Florida, around 1,000 demonstrators chanted 'dissent is patriotic,' while carrying signs like 'One nation under distress.' Organisers explicitly instructed crowds to avoid clashes with counterprotesters and not to obstruct traffic. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner underscored that any illegal activity — including by immigration officers overstepping their authority — would be prosecuted. Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., he said, 'If you are doing what Martin Luther King would have done, you're going to be fine.'
