Cambridge petrol station stabbing: Man given hospital order
A 20-year-old man who stabbed a man in the back at a petrol station has been given a hospital order.Ibrahim Hazell, from Cambridge, attacked the man, in his 40s, outside a BP petrol station on Cherry Hinton Road in the city, in the early hours of 5 April 2024.The victim was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital and treated for a stab wound to the lower back and multiple internal injuries.Hazell was given the order under section 37 of the Mental Health Act at the city's crown court on Wednesday.
Hazell ran away from the scene and was later identified after a public CCTV appeal.He admitted causing grievous bodily harm at a previous hearing at the same court.An additional section 41 restriction on Hazell's hospital order means he can only be discharged from hospital if the justice secretary agrees.Det Con Alex Galan-Tarachiu from Cambridgeshire Police said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack which initially left the victim in a critical condition."I hope the sentence provides some reassurance to the victim."

Bradford murder trial date set after man stabbed to death

Norwich drug dealer caught in Peterborough
A drug dealer has been jailed after traffic police pulled him over for an insurance query and found drugs in his Lawan, 22, was caught in Gables Close in Peterborough on 15 December 2023 and found to have almost £1,500 in cash, 23 wraps of cocaine and two mobile phones with of Barnard Road, Norwich, admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of criminal property, and being concerned in the supply of cocaine at Cambridge Crown Court on 5 was jailed for two years and two months. Cambridge police warn owners to lock mopeds as thefts rise
Owners are being urged to secure their mopeds and motorbikes after an increase in thefts. Police said thieves had targeted almost one moped a day in Cambridge during May and early June as the bikes were lightweight and easy to wheel well as urging people to lock, chain and cover their bikes, officers recommended using a tracking system, such as an AirTag, hidden on the bike."Thieves only need a matter of seconds to steal one, especially if they are left with poor security," said Sgt Kevin Sutcliffe, from Cambridgeshire Police's city neighbourhood team.
