Morocco's Wafa Assurance to take over Egypt's Delta Insurance

RABAT, June 16 (Reuters) - Wafa Assurance has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Egypt's Delta Insurance from its current owner Egypt Kuwait Holding Company, as it targets an expansion of its operations in the Egyptian market, it said on Monday.
Wafa Assurance, a subsidiary of Morocco's top lender Attijariwafa Bank, offered a price of 40 Egyptian pounds per share in a deal that values the Cairo-listed company at 925 million dirhams ($100 million), it said in a statement.
Egypt Kuwait Holding Company, which holds 63.39% of Delta, has agreed to tender its entire stake under the terms of the offer, Wafa Assurance said.
The deal is pending the approval of Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority, it said.
Casablanca-listed Wafa Assurance already operates in Egypt's life insurance market through its subsidiary Wafa Life Insurance Egypt.
It said the acquisition would expand its operations in a fast-growing market with strong growth potential.

The company reiterated its 2028 targets, which include delivering 500 to 600 million pounds ($679 to $814 million) in operating profit by increasing earnings through fees charged to clients while reducing costs. SAO PAULO, June 16 (Reuters) - Brazilian businessman Nelson Tanure has retained advisory firm Rothschild & Co. to conduct bank negotiations critical to his proposed bid for Latin America's largest petrochemical firm, Braskem ( opens new tab, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Tanure made an offer in late May to acquire conglomerate Novonor's [RIC:RIC: controlling stake in Braskem, leading to exclusive discussions between the two parties. Known for investing in companies undergoing financial restructuring, Tanure must also negotiate with banks holding Braskem shares pledged as collateral for Novonor's outstanding debts, as well as with oil company Petrobras ( opens new tab, Braskem's second-largest shareholder. Tanure and Rothschild declined to comment. Rothschild's engagement by the Brazilian businessman was first reported by newspaper O Globo. In a recent interview with Reuters, Tanure said he had initiated talks with the banks and key players in the potential deal without yet detailing his offer. He also said he wants to retain Novonor as a minority shareholder and grant Petrobras an expanded role in Braskem.
