THE Grand Rex, nestled in the heart of Paris, boasts the title of the world's largest cinema.
Its main hall seats over 2,700 people across three tiers - all beneath a dazzling starry ceiling that towers nearly 100 feet high.

The hall also boasts a screen known as 'Le Grand Large' ('The Great Large'), stretching over 81 feet wide and 37 feet tall - making it over 3,000 square feet.
Another of the hall's stage screens, used for live performances and concerts, spans nearly 55 feet wide and 23 feet tall.
The screens are powered by three projectors.
The building complex has seven screening halls, one concert and show venue, a club and a museum.
The giant cinema was envisioned in the early 1930s by wealthy French film producer Jacques Haïk.
His goal was to build a cinema with a capacity of over 5,000 spectators, spanning more than 21,500 square feet.
While he may not have reached that seating capacity, the Grand Rex's hall certainly matches the envisioned size.
Haïk's Tunisian roots are said to have inspired the cinema's Mediterranean ambience and baroque style.
The building's architects were notably experts in "atmospheric halls", having created more than 400 decors of phantasmatic American cities under cloudy or starry skies.
The Grand Rex's decor has earned it the title of the most beautiful cinema in the world by Time Out in February.

The building's facades, roof, hall and decor have also earned it the distinction of a "Monument historique" ("historical monument"), akin to a French national heritage site.
The Grand Rex hall first opened its doors in December 1932.
Louis Lumière, the French engineer who played a key role in cinema's development, was among the first guests to take a seat in the hall.
During the German occupation of France, the Grand Rex was requisitioned by the German army and transformed into a Soldatenkino - a cinema reserved for soldiers on leave.
In September 1942, it even became the target of a bombing by the Détachement Valmy.
The cinema reopened in October 1944 after the Liberation of Paris.
It is now visited by over one million people each year.
Meanwhile, Madrid boasts a huge cinema complex that can seat almost 1,000 viewers and has 25 screens.
The Spanish complex is called Kinepolis Madrid Ciudad de la Imagen, meaning Movie City.
This multiplex, featuring up to 25 screening rooms, holds the title of the world's largest cinema by total capacity.
Ciudad de la Imagen belongs to Kinepolis Group, a Belgian cinema chain formed in 1997.
The cinema first opened its doors in 1998.

Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka shares loved-up photos with her boyfriend as pair soak in the sun in Mykonos after bitter French Open final defeat by Coco Gauff

Aryna Sabalenka may have come up short in the French Open final but the 27-year-old appeared to be unfazed as she enjoyed a holiday with her boyfriend in Mykonos. Coco Gauff got the better of the Belarusian at Roland Garros but she is still making the most of her holidays. Sabalenka took to Instagram to share a series of photos of herself and Georgios Frangulis having a good time on the Greek island. The tennis star has been Oakberry founder and racecar driver Frangulis since early 2024. Her previous boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov tragically 'died of suicide' prior to that after jumping from a hotel balcony in Miami, police have confirmed. Sabalenka was involved in one of the great women's finals of the decade which ended 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 to Gauff. It was a contest between the two best players on the planet in which Gauff prevailed. This marked the second Grand Slam of Gauff's career, having also claimed the 2023 US Open title. The world No 2 became the first American to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015. And in an ungracious press-conference after the final, Sabalenka argued that Swiatek would have beaten Gauff had she progressed past the semi-final. Sabalenka said: 'That hurts. Especially when I've been playing really great tennis during the whole week. A lot of tough opponents, Iga. 'I think if Iga would have beaten me, she would go out today and she would get the win.' Gauff parried the distasteful claim away and cited her victory in straight sets against Swiatek at the Madrid Open earlier this year, which was also on clay. Gauff rebutted: 'I mean, I don't agree with that. I'm here sitting here (with the trophy). Last time I played - no shade to Iga or anything, but I played her and I won in straight sets (in Madrid). 'I don't think that's a fair thing to say, because anything can happen. The way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favourite to win the title. If you asked me, honestly, who I wanted to play, it was Iga just because I felt Aryna was playing so good, and she was. 'But regardless of who I played, I think I had a good shot to win. I definitely had that belief.' Sabalenka made 70 unforced errors in blustery conditions, and said: 'It felt like a joke. Like somebody from above was laughing: let's see if you can handle this. 'After two weeks of incredible tennis, in the final in terrible conditions to play such terrible tennis really hurts. 'It felt like she (Gauff) was hitting the ball off the frame and somehow magically it lands in the court. I don't think she won the match because she played incredible, just because I made all those mistakes.'

"This is a nightmare for any museum."Art must be respected and loved because it is very fragile." The art piece is a sparkly bejewelled chair that was built by Italian artist Nicola covered in lots of Swarovski crystals and is named after the famous artist Vincent van Gogh as a tribute to his painting of a simple Menegazzo, an art historian based at the museum, says that - while it looks sturdy - the chair's frame is mostly hollow and is held together with foil."On the chair was a note warning people not to touch, and of course it is placed on a pedestal, so it's quite clear it's not a real chair," says Ms the accident, the two front legs and base of the chair were broken, but Ms Menegazzo says "a great job" has been done to restore the piece and it is now back on display. Dion Dublin loses huge five-figure sum on Millionaire celebrity special – would you have got it right?

FOOTIE legend Dion Dublin was left red-faced on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? after losing a huge five-figure sum. The former Homes Under the Hammer presenter, 56, had the pressure on him on during his stint on the ITV quiz show after revealing he was playing for two charities close to his heart. 3 3 While in the hot seat, Dion explained that he was hoping to raise serious cash for the Dianne Oxberry Trust — named after the beloved BBC weather presenter who died in 2019. Dianne passed away shortly after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Dion revealed he was also raising money for the Pet Blood Bank, a charity that he and his wife Cheryl are both devoted to. With emotions running high, Dion looked to set his safety net at a cool £32k. However, hoping for more money, he decided to gamble. The telly star had already used up two lifelines when host Jeremy Clarkson hit him with the question: 'Which of these events did not occur in the 1990s?' The possible answers were: A) John Major becomes PM, B) Dolly the sheep is born, C) Eden Project opens, or D) FA Premiere League is founded. Dion was quick off the mark with the initial thought it might be John Major becoming Prime Minister. He took a 50/50 to whittle the options down — and was left with John Major and The Eden Project opening. Needing backup, he phoned a friend. But not just any pal — his accountant Marco. Marco confidently declared it was John Major. 'I'll go with Marco because he knows his stuff,' Dion said, trustingly. But Marco definitely didn't know his stuff. Clarkson delivered the blow with his typical charm: 'That's the wrong answer. He followed Thatcher, didn't he? "It was 1990 exactly. The Eden Project opened in 2001.' Dion's face dropped as Jezza delivered his final quip: 'You need a new accountant.' Instead of a bumper prize pot, Dion walked away with just £1,000 — split between the two charities. Did you know the correct answer? Let us know in the comments below. 3
