Have you investigated Yusoff's police report, lawyer asks cops

Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali had called for an update from the authorities as early as November last year.
KUALA LUMPUR : The lawyer of former research assistant Yusoff Rawther has urged the police to provide updates on a report lodged by his client last year in which he claimed he had been framed.
Following Yusoff's acquittal by the High Court today, Rafique Rashid Ali called on Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain to break his silence on the status of the investigation into the report, filed on Sept 12, 2024.
'Yusoff lodged the report last year on Sept 12. When he was brought to court, we told the police to investigate the report.
'I would like to question the IGP on the status of the investigation. Have the police called those listed in the report for questioning?' he told reporters today.
This is not the first time Rafique has raised the matter, having publicly called for an update from the authorities as early as November last year.
In the police report, Yusoff claimed he had been framed and provided a list of individuals allegedly involved in setting him up.
Yusoff, who had been held in remand for nine months, walked out of court a free man today after being acquitted of drug trafficking and the possession of two imitation pistols.
Justice Jamil Hussin ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case on both charges, citing a lack of credible evidence to prove all elements of the offences.

Ampang Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail urged the woman in the video to come forward and assist with the investigation. 'The police officer involved has been identified and removed from current duties; a disciplinary investigation is also underway against the officer,' he said in a statement today. Bukit Aman launches disciplinary investigation into Ampang cop over alleged hotel invite in viral clip

KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) is conducting a disciplinary investigation into a police officer accused of inviting a woman to meet and check into a hotel, as alleged in a video that has gone viral on social media. Its director, Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad, said a police report on the incident was lodged yesterday by the chief of the Pandan Indah police station. 'The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. 'JIPS Bukit Aman is also carrying out a concurrent disciplinary probe into the junior police officer involved, including aspects of supervision,' he said in a statement today. Heavy vehicles caused road damage at site where S'porean cyclist died

Works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said although upgrading work on the road shoulder was carried out earlier this year, the excessive loads had damaged the road again. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Crocodile cracking, a form of road surface damage, was detected at the scene of an accident that claimed the life of a Singaporean cyclist in Kulai, Johor, yesterday. Works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the damage to state road J165 was likely due to frequent use by heavy vehicles, particularly lorries from a nearby quarry area, Bernama reported. Nanta said although upgrading work on the road shoulder was carried out earlier this year, the excessive loads had damaged the road again. 'Although the road falls under the jurisdiction of the state government, the works ministry is concerned about its condition, which poses a risk to road users, including motorcyclists and cyclists,' he said in a statement today. A Singaporean cyclist was killed after he was believed to have fallen as a result of the bad condition of Jalan Gunung Pulai and was hit by a trailer lorry at about 9.45am yesterday. As an immediate measure, Nanta said he had contacted the state authorities to ensure rehabilitation work is carried out immediately, with comprehensive repairs to follow once the necessary allocation was approved. He urged those involved in road maintenance to ensure road conditions remained safe for users. Nanta also advised cyclists to avoid routes frequently used by heavy vehicles. 'Choose a suitable and safe time, such as early morning on weekends. Always ensure the use of safety equipment, including helmets and reflective lights. 'Adhere to traffic regulations, avoid using mobile phones while cycling, and make sure your bicycle is in good condition,' he said. He extended his condolences to the family of the cyclist.
