Two bodies found at Sydney Northern Beaches granny flat in Forestville
A couple found dead in a granny flat in northern Sydney may have died in a murder-suicide, with police probing a potential history of domestic violence in Queensland. The two bodies were found in the home at a property on Cannons Parade in Forestville on Wednesday night. Speaking to media, Detective Superintendent John Duncan said the pair had lacerations on their bodies. The woman is believed to be in her late 50s and the man in his late-40s. Police believe they were in a relationship, and detectives are not aware of any children. Forensic officers are analysing the granny flat at the back of the property. Police are yet to work out their cause of death but are treating their deaths as suspicious. Police want information about any suspicious activity 'out of the norm' on the typically 'good, quiet' Cannons Parade during the past four days, Superintendent Duncan said. The person who called police knew the pair, had not seen them since Saturday, and was concerned about their dogs and a cat. Police and firefighters forced their way into the granny flat. The bodies had 'lacerations', Superintendent Duncan said, but he was unable to elaborate on the extent of the injuries until forensics fully analysed the scene. The occupants were known to NSW Police for 'minor matters', but there was no history of domestic violence in NSW, he said. Detectives were contacting Queensland Police, but police were still to formally identify them, so tracking down records was a challenge, he said. Police say the deceased woman is in her 50s, and the deceased man is in his 40s. Picture: NewsWire / Simon Bullard. Police are expected to remain at the property for most of Thursday. Picture: NewsWire / Simon Bullard. A 'concern for welfare' was reported on Wednesday about 9.30pm. 'Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended and found the bodies of a man – believed to be aged in his 40s – and a woman – believed to be aged in her 50s – in a granny flat at the rear of the property,' a police spokesperson said. 'The bodies are yet to be formally identified.' 'Police established a crime scene and inquiries have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.' Property records show the granny flat was listed for rent in late October. Police seized a white ute from out the front of the property on Wednesday night, with Nine reporting the car had Queensland licence plates. The two-storey granny flat is behind a five-bedroom, three-storey home, and next to a large pool and lawn. Photographers captured a resident of the front house answering a knock on the door from police. The female resident was in a dressing gown. Police are expected to provide more details about the incident and investigation later Thursday morning. Worker suddenly dies at nation's most remote brewery in Broome
A staff member at the nation's most remote brewery has died at work. Matso's Brewery confirmed one of their team members passed away 'suddenly and tragically' on Tuesday, in a statement shared to social media this week. 'We suddenly and tragically lost one of our Matso's team last night,' the statement read. 'To allow us all to process this and look after each other, Matso's will be closed (on) Wednesday.' Emergency services were called to the brewery about 9.25pm and found a 52-year old man unresponsive. He was rushed to Broome District Hospital, where he was declared dead. 'The death is being treated as non-suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner,' a police spokesman said. The brewery is located in the Kimberley town of Broome, about 2220 km north of Perth and is a popular destination for tourists visiting the region. The brewery became famous for creating the nation's first alcoholic ginger beer and is well known for its refreshing drinks. It first opened in 1997, with the owners opening a second brewery on the Sunshine Coast two years ago.
