Coldplay perform hit song for first time in 9 years
Coldplay treated concert goers to one of their most loved songs, after declining from singing the hit in nearly a decade.
The British band was in Texas on June 14, performing to a huge crowd while on their North American leg of their 2025 Music of the Spheres tour.
Towards the end of their concert, frontman Chris Martin announced to the crowd that they were going to attempt to sing a hit song from their 2005 album X&Y, Speed of Sound.
'To finish a good time here in El Paso, why don't we try and reclaim the song Speed of Sound?' which was met with an eruption of cheers from the crowd.
He then promised that the band would at some point release a cleaner version of the song, admitting that he wanted to improve the tune.
'At some point, we'll do a proper edit of the song. Just do a remix, I'd like to make it a little bit quicker, a little bit shorter, a little bit tighter, maybe mix the drums slightly.
'You understand? And it'll just be a much better song, Will! I'm so sorry I messed it up when I was a young man,' he said, speaking to the band piano player Will Champion.
He then said to the crowd: 'For those of you who were not born in 2005, here's Speed of Sound, it's not that good, but we're going to try and play it anyway!'
The song was met with cheers from the crowd, who appeared to be delighted with this change in the set list and applauded the band.
The Music of Spheres tour kicked off in 2022 and is scheduled to end at London's Wembley Stadium on September 8, 2025.

The song was the lead single for the 2005 album that Chris wrote for her daughter, Apple, in 2004.
It charted in the UK singles chart at number two and debuted in the US at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. This was a milestone for the band at the time as their first top 10 hit.
The hit was even nominated for two Grammy Awards and won an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song.
It was the band's highest ever peaking song until Viva La Vida in 2008.
Despite the song's success, the band and Chris have been open about their dislike of the song.

The band last performed the song live in 2016, when they were on their seventh concert tour, A Head Full of Dreams Tour.
The tour was in support of their seventh studio album of the same name, which featured hits including: Hymn for the Weekend, Adventure of a Lifetime, Up&Up, and Birds.
While Speed of Sound wasn't on their set list, they performed the tune in Sao Paulo as a surprise song when they asked concert goers to send in requests for an extra tune on the set list.

Women fretted about swimwear while we were allowed to gracefully surrender into middle-age spread. We only had two beach role models, Peter Stringfellow with his thong, and David Hasselhoff, who spent half the 1980s sucking in his stomach and the other half driving a talking car. But today more is expected of us. Blame social media if you want. The world has moved on. Men are expected to care more about how they dress. But in the UK it seems we didn't get the memo and while Europeans got more stylish, British blokes spun off at a tangent, like a divergent timeline in Marvel's Loki series. But you can do better. It didn't take a lot of effort and I even get compliments occasionally from my 23-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son. So, as you head off for your hols, take a few tips from me. Two UK pennies worth more than £2,600 if they have this tiny mark
These coins are highly sought-after by collectors due to an initial found on one side An expert has urged Brits to look out for two old pennies that could be worth over £2,600 combined. These pre-decimal coins are no longer in circulation but could be hiding away in an attic or coin jar. However, these pieces are only especially valuable if they feature two tiny letters. This mark will make them highly sought-after by collectors. In a video uploaded to social media platform TikTok, an expert known as the Coin Collecting Wizard, said: 'Thousands of pounds if you have either a 1918 or 1919 old UK penny with this mint mark. 'As you will be aware if you follow me, there are many pre-decimal pennies from the UK that have some crazy values, but it all depends on the date.' But you need to check for the initials 'KN' on both coins to be sure they are collectable. 'Today we discuss the 1919 KN penny, KN meaning King's Norton Mint,' he continued. 'Of the two mints, the King's Norton is by far the most difficult to get.' Rather than being produced at the Royal Mint like most coins in the UK, these were created at the King's Norton Mint in Birmingham. At the time this company was contracted to help keep up with demand for coins. The expert gave more details: 'The obverse [head side] shows a portrait of King George the Fifth by Australian sculptor Bertram MacKennal. George the Fifth was king of the United Kingdom and the British dominions and Emperor of India from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936. 'The reverse [tail side} shows Britannia seated with trident and shield. It is the same as other pennies of that era with the exception of the KN mint mark.' It is the 'KN' mark that sets it apart. This can be spotted just under the shield held by Britannia on the tail side of the coin. However, you will need to look closely as it is very hard to see. If your coin has these letters it could be worth an incredible £2,000 or more. 'If you are lucky enough to find the 1919 KN penny then it may surprise you that this coin can sell for over £2,000 depending on condition,' he said. The expert then showed an image of the 1918 KN penny. He added: 'Now as with a lot of these coins, the value very much depends on the condition of the coin. A good grade 1918 KN penny can be over £30, but as the condition increases, such as an extra fine version, you would be looking at over £600.'

The Sun reports that the firm has £3,473,623 in cash and £610,370 in property which includes a flat in Altrincham which was bought in 2022. Michelle made £280,000 in her firm's first year of trading and she exceeded £2 million in 2021 before £3 million in 2023. Another way Michelle makes money is by co-directing clothing business Mysa Active with her husband Mark Wright. Michelle has reportedly landed a six-figure deal to become the new face of Sky. It's thought that the star will film promo clips alongside fellow British actor Luther star Idris Elba. She managed to bag the deal after she has been a Sky staple in her comedy Brassic which is one of the most popular series on the channel. A source said: "Michelle has really been enjoying maternity leave with Palma, but she'll be back to work soon to film these new adverts for Sky. She has signed a six-figure deal for the job and is thrilled to have been chosen to appear alongside Idris, who has been their 'face'. "Brassic is ending after the seventh series and Michelle is keen to still be a part of the Sky brand. Landing this ad is huge for Michelle, as she's fast becoming a brand in her own right.
