Iconic Banff hotel closing temporarily this fall for massive makeover
A historic hotel in Banff will be temporarily closing its doors come October to complete a large-scale revamp.
Officials say the Rimrock Resort Hotel will undergo a 'comprehensive' renovation, before reopening in the spring of 2026.
Construction of the hotel started in 1958. Originally, it had 60 rooms, but when new ownership took over in 1988, they transformed the property into a lavish resort with more than 300 rooms.
'For decades, The Rimrock has stood as a proud part of Banff's story—a retreat shaped by nature, memories and the cherished guests who return year after year,' said general manager David Garcelon in a Friday news release.
'As we celebrate this rich legacy, we invite guests to join us this summer in honouring all that has made The Rimrock so special.'
