Hyderabad firm MEIL gets Rs 13k cr order from NPCIL for two 700MW N-reactors
NEW DELHI: Hyderabad-based leading
infrastructure company
Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (
MEIL
) on Wednesday announced that the company has bagged an order worth about Rs 13,000 crore from
public sector undertaking
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd for supplying two
nuclear reactors
of 700 megawatt each.
'We are happy to announce that MEIL has received a Rs 12,800 crore purchase order from
NPCIL
to build two nuclear reactors in
Karnataka
... ,' the company said in a post on X on Wednesday.
MEIL said it has 'formally received a purchase order for a Rs 12,800 crore from the NPCIL to construct two 700 MWe nuclear reactors — Kaiga Units 5 & 6 — in Karnataka. This is the biggest-ever order placed by NPCIL and marks MEIL's first major step into the nuclear
energy sector
— a field that will help shape India's energy future'. The order was formally handed over at NPCIL's Mumbai headquarters to Ch. P Subbaiah, director, MEIL (Projects), and his team.
For the first time, NPCIL used the quality-cum-cost-based selection (QCBS) method for awarding this project — striking a careful balance between quality and cost. 'Competing with industry giants like BHEL and L&T, MEIL was chosen for its strong technical approach and competitive pricing,' the company's statement said. This project goes beyond engineering. It's about contributing to a stronger, self-reliant India. For MEIL, it's a meaningful leap into a sector that plays a key role in powering the nation's growth story.

CM launches Vision Action Plan Units
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday virtually launched 'Vision Action Plan Unit' offices in all 26 districts and 175 Assembly constituencies with an aim to achieve the goals of Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. Addressing MPs, MLAs, District Collectors and officials virtually from the state Secretariat after the launch, Naidu stated that these units would fill a long-standing gap by providing dedicated government offices for MLAs at the constituency level. Each unit will be staffed with a nine-member team, with an allocation of Rs 10 lakh for its operational expenses. The nine-member team consists of an MLA, district nodal officer, academic person, young professional, and five vision staff. The Chief Minister, who recently unveiled Swarna Andhra 2047 vision under which the state would achieve a gross state domestic product (GSDP) of $2.4 trillion over the next two decades, urged the MPs, MLAs and officials to actively drive the implementation of this ambitious vision. He characterised the initiative as a "valuable opportunity" for MLAs, encouraging them to foster active citizen participation in the state's transformative journey. "Each Constituency Vision Action Plan Unit will be chaired by the local MLA," the Chief Minister explained. "A Special Officer will serve as executive vice-chairperson, with the local MLC, Municipal/Urban Panchayat chairperson, RDO/Sub-Collector, Tahsildar, Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO), and Municipal Commissioner as members. The MPDO will act as the convener," he added. "We drafted this vision within the first year of taking office," the CM stated, drawing a parallel with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision. To ensure comprehensive growth, the Chief Minister highlighted ten priority development sectors identified for focused attention: agriculture, dairy, fisheries, and horticulture; industries, commerce, and logistics; services sector & IT; healthcare and medical Infrastructure; education and skill development; environment and natural resource management; infrastructure – roads, water projects, housing; urban and rural development; and governance efficiency & digital governance. "These ten focus areas represent the broad canvas of our transformation agenda. Our goal is to make Andhra Pradesh a 'healthy, wealthy, and happy' state," the Chief Minister affirmed. He emphasised the need for the state to pursue not only the long-term Swarna Andhra 2047 vision but also to prepare a clear four-year action plan. A comprehensive five-year roadmap has been developed for all 26 districts, he added. The Chief Minister appreciated Union Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, who participated in the virtual launch, for coming forward to adopt 10 poor families under the P4 (Public Private People Partnership) poverty elimination programme. He urged other public representatives to follow suit and become mentors.

From red flags to American flags: Trump keeps Tesla, Musk keeps quiet; 'big, beautiful' feud over?
Elon Musk and Donald Trump (R) Just days after calling for US President Donald Trump 's impeachment, Elon Musk is now softening his stance, offering indirect praise and patriotic emojis for the administration, in a dramatic shift after what had been dubbed the 'big, beautiful breakup' between the two giants. The rapid shift in tone comes after a public and messy split between the tech mogul and the US president. Last week, Musk's social media posts took direct aim at Trump, accusing him, without evidence, of appearing in documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and demanding his removal from office. But by the weekend, many of those posts had vanished. As clashes between demonstrators and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers escalated in LA, Musk threw his weight behind the administration's firm stance on immigration enforcement. He reposted Vice President JD Vance's message that the 'president will not tolerate rioting and violence,' adding a string of American flags. Musk has long voiced support for closed borders and stricter immigration controls, positions closely aligned with Trump's own policies. Tech billionaire also amplified a post from Trump on Truth Social demanding apologies from California governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass over the chaos in the city. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'They should apologize to the people of Los Angeles,' Trump wrote, as images of burning cars and violent confrontations flooded social media. In a gesture that signals a possible thaw in tensions, President Trump announced Monday that he would not sell the Tesla he purchased from Elon Musk—despite their recent public fallout. The car, acquired during friendlier times as a symbolic move to promote American-made electric vehicles, was reportedly intended for White House use rather than personal driving. Following the clash between the two, there had been speculation that Trump might sell or give away the vehicle. However, the President clarified he had no plans to part with it. 'I could move it around,' Trump said, 'but I won't sell the car.' He also confirmed he had no intention of cutting ties with Musk's Starlink satellite service, further suggesting that a complete break between the two may not be in the cards. In another surprising turn, Musk re-followed White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, one of the architects of the administration's immigration policy -- after unfollowing him during last week's feud. The move stirred speculation, especially given that Miller's wife, Katie Miller, recently left her White House post to work with Musk full-time. The Millers had been regulars at Musk's social gatherings, and their proximity to both camps has made them the subject of White House gossip amid the falling out. Katie Miller declined to comment. Musk also moved to quash viral rumours that had fanned the flames of the feud. When his AI chatbot Grok seemingly confirmed a fake post showing Musk telling Miller 'Just like I took your wife,' Musk replied, 'No, it's fake ffs I never posted this.' Despite the apparent thaw, Musk has not fully abandoned criticism. Over the weekend, he took more subtle jabs at the president's sweeping domestic policy proposal, nicknamed the 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill'—which recently passed the House and is now under Senate review. Wall Street, however, seems to be welcoming the détente. Tesla's stock rebounded 4.6% on Monday, though it remains below levels seen before last week's dramatic fallout. 'While we do not expect Trump and Musk to be back to their Mar-a-Lago connected at the hip days, it would not be a surprise to see Trump and Musk slowly mend the fences (with the help of intermediaries behind closed doors) over the coming months,' wrote WedBush analyst Dan Ives. 'At the end of the day Trump needs Musk to stay close to the Republican party and Musk needs Trump for many reasons including a green light on a federal framework for autonomous [vehicles]. ' On Monday afternoon, Trump himself struck a more conciliatory tone when asked about Musk. 'We had a good relationship, I wish him well, very well,' the president told reporters at the White House. But when asked if he would answer Musk's call, Trump paused: 'I haven't really thought about it actually. I would imagine he wants to speak to me, I would think so.'

EAM Jaishankar interacts with Indian community in Belgium, Luxembourg
Brussels [Belgium], June 10 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar interacted with members of the Indian community in Belgium and Luxembourg, discussing the steady progress of India-Belgium ties and its engagement with the European Union. During the interaction, Jaishankar apprised the community of India's efforts to counter terrorism and promote the country's progress and prosperity. Sharing the pictures of the interaction, Jaishankar wrote, 'Great to interact with members of the Indian community of Belgium and Luxembourg. Discussed with them the steady progress of India-Belgium ties and engagement with the EU. Also apprised them of our efforts at countering terrorism and ensuring the progress & prosperity of India.' Notably, Jaishankar began his visit to Belgium on Monday by meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and combating terrorism. He appreciated Belgium's support in combating terrorism, welcomed their solidarity, and emphasised the strong momentum in the India-EU partnership, highlighting the potential for collaboration in clean energy, mobility, and pharmaceuticals. Jaishankar's visit to Brussels comes three months after Princess Astrid of Belgium led a 300-member economic mission to India. The recent visit by Princess Astrid, who met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jaishankar, discussed key areas such as labor migration, pharmaceuticals, defense, diamonds, space exploration, and green energy. Interestingly, Jaishankar's visit coincides with the detention of fugitive Indian diamantaire Mehul Choksi in a jail in Belgium. Choksi, accused of defrauding Punjab National Bank of Rs 13,850 crore, was arrested in mid-April on India's extradition request. India has an extradition treaty with Belgium, and the government is likely to pursue Choksi's extradition during the EAM's visit. Jaishankar is on an official visit to France, the European Union (EU), and Belgium from June 8 to 14, 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs announced in a press release on Sunday. (ANI)
