BREAKING NEWS Mariah Carey to return to Australia for the first time in 11 years to headline Fridayz Live alongside Pitbull and Wiz Khalifa

Daily Mail21-05-2025

Mariah Carey is returning to Australia in 2025 to headline Fridayz Live, marking her first tour Down Under in over a decade.
Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed on Tuesday that the 56-year-old pop star will play shows in Sydney and Melbourne later this year.
And this October, Fridayz Live hits the road for a massive Australian tour after a year off, bringing a string of major artists to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
Five-time Grammy winner Mariah, who is currently on tour in Asia in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her album The Emancipation of Mimi, will perform alongside US rapper Wiz Khalifa and Pitbull.
'I missed you terribly, certainly the fans and the people, the beautiful land and the animals, you know, it's Australia, c'mon!' she said.

Carey is bringing her dazzling glamour and a setlist stacked with chart-topping tracks to Fridayz Live including Fantasy, Always Be My Baby and We Belong Together.
Pop icon Mariah is also set to bring her Celebration of Mimi tour, commemorating the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi, to international audiences, with Australian dates expected to be announced soon.
'Mariah has been eager to reconnect with her Australian fans,' an entertainment promoter told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.
'The Celebration of Mimi tour is the perfect opportunity to do so, and plans are underway to include Australia in the tour itinerary later this year.'
Mariah recently teased fans with an Instagram video featuring an Australian flag and kangaroos marked on a calendar, hinting at upcoming tour dates in the country.
This follows the cancellation of her planned 2018 Australian tour due to a 'scheduling conflict'.
While official dates and venues are yet to be confirmed, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for announcements.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly once released, given Carey's enduring popularity and the anticipation surrounding her return to Australian stages.
Meanwhile, the iconic pop star recently revealed what's bugged her most throughout her decades-long singing career.
Speaking with People, she admitted that upon its release she felt 'annoyed' that it was referred to as a 'comeback album.'
'At the time, it annoyed me when they called it a comeback album,' she told the publication. 'But now I'm just like, 'Oh yeah, my comeback album.''
The project — which featured collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Jermaine Dupri — was released just three years after 2002's Charmbracelet, which received mixed reviews and debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Despite the success of The Emancipation of Mimi's predecessor, she said the 'comeback' description is 'somewhat accurate.'
Carey expressed her frustration as she asked rhetorically, 'It's like, how many comebacks do I have to have?'
She noted that if people 'know the album, then they usually are fans of the album.'
'But not everybody knows that album,' the entertainer explained. 'So people can discover various songs and kind of get to know the feeling of that album.'
Acknowledging the milestone anniversary on social media last week, Mariah wrote to her 14 million Instagram followers: 'Happy 'Mimi' Anniversary!! I'm excited to celebrate this one with you.'
A special edition 20th anniversary iteration of the LP will be released on May 30.
Mariah added in her Instagram caption, 'While working on #Mimi20, I got to relive all the memories from this pivotal moment in my personal and professional life.
'This album has some of my biggest hits to date, as well as some personal favourites that are very special to me. Let me know what your favourite Mimi lyric is and stay tuned for more surprises yet to come! Love, MC.'
In a video shared by Spotify days ago, Mariah stated, 'The Emancipation of Mimi represents an incredible part of my life — obviously the music and the songs and just where it took me as an artist and as a person.'
She named Fly Like A Bird as one of her favourite tracks from the album, calling it 'the vocal take that I'm most proud of.'
'It was such a strong message that I was kind of writing to God, to myself, to my fans. It still feels that way to me,' Mariah said of the soft and uplifting R&B tune.
The album went on to sell 10 million albums worldwide, with six million purchased in the United States.
The star was married to Nick Cannon from 2008-2016 and they share 13-year-old fraternal twins Moroccan and Monroe.

Braith Anasta opens up for the first time about the moment he thought he'd have to punch Latrell Mitchell in the face

Braith Anasta has revealed that he and Latrell Mitchell are on good terms following their frosty spat at a fancy Sydney restaurant last year. But the Fox Footy pundit revealed he had become worried that the South Sydney Rabbitohs star's anger could tip over the edge. The pair found themselves in the spotlight after Mitchell is understood to have confronted the NRL 360 host at Chin Chin, an Asian fusion restaurant located in Sydney's Surry Hills last May. Anasta, 43, had been critical of Mitchell's recent form, with the South Sydney star having believed some of the broadcaster's critics to have been too personal. Mitchell had approached the former Sydney Roosters star, who was dining with a friend. Both stood firm on their opinions and agreed to disagree and it is reported that the pair continued their disagreement in private, but the stand-off did not turn physical, despite Anasta revealing he had feared tempers could flare. 'I was thinking in my head, I can't let him land the first one because I'll be gone, because he's a beast,' Anasta said to The Daily Telegraph. 'I'd be lying if I said at some point, I didn't think it might happen. I can understand what he was going through and I can understand how frustrating it is when people have an opinion and you just want to play footy.' But it appears the pair have made amends since. 'Okay, let me get something clear here – before I tell it, me and Latrell are fine,' the former Roosters five-eighth explained. Their disagreement came after the Rabbitohs had complained to Fox chiefs that NRL 360 had been unfair on their stars. Anasta's criticisms came as the Rabbitohs slumped to the bottom of the ladder in 2024, following a dismal season that saw the Bunnies lose nine matches. Anasta, meanwhile, told his version of events from that evening in the restaurant, arguing that Mitchell could have called him and he would have happily addressed his complaints over the phone. 'It's not about putting shit on him. I don't want that. But what actually happened was, I finished NRL360 and … by Wednesday night, I just want to have a beer, and have something to eat and just relax,' the 43-year-old said. Anasta, who had coached Mitchell in the U20s, claimed he 'always had a good relationship' with the Rabbitohs star. But he revealed he had not had a chance to order, before Mitchell had approached him, to voice his grip. 'He goes: "No, no, no, no. I'm sick of you having a crack at me on 360, yada, yada, yada". I'm thinking: "Is he joking here, or is he serious?" 'And he goes: "Let's go outside". By that point, people are looking at us, right? It's the middle of Chin Chin's. It's a busy night. I thought, I need to de-escalate this, or at the very least, I need to get this out of this restaurant, right?' 'We go out the front and he just lays, he lays into me, right? He's standing over the top of me and he's having his whack. 'I'm like, man, okay, slow down. Because there was nothing making sense. It was just abuse. I said: "Mate, what am I doing that isn't right? Is there something that I'm wrong with? Can you just explain to me what you're angry with?" 'They were coming last at the time. I don't know if it was a week or two before, but I'd shown some vision of him at fullback.' Anasta explained: 'There were just a few instances where I thought he could be better. 'In that instant, he was over the top of me. I didn't back down at all. I gave as good as I got.' During an episode of the program, Anasta had questioned why Mitchell was playing fullback. 'You look at the great fullbacks in our game ... they are there before the play is there,' he said. 'They pre-empt it, they are moving before the ball goes, they are on their bike. 'Latrell ... he gets caught out a lot in defence, he's very rarely in the frame at the last second when there's a try or when he's got an opportunity to save a try. 'That's where he needs to improve. That comes down to fitness... and being one of those high-energy fullbacks. He plays differently.' But a year-on from that incident, Mitchell is currently playing out of his skin for the Rabbitohs and was a stand-out during last Wednesday's State of Origin opener. Mitchell notably set up Brian To'o for the try of the match, utilising his exceptional handling skills to find the flying NSW winger on his outside for the Blues' second score of the the Bunnies, Mitchell has five try assists across seven appearances so far this season, while he has also touched down twice himself, amassing a goal-conversion rate of 87 per cent.

Reality star addresses rumours that his collapsed nose was a result of drugs and partying: 'Can't rule it out'

Timm Hanly has addressed speculation surrounding his collapsed septum in a honest Instagram Q&A - and admitted his partying past could be partly to blame. The former Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise star took to his Stories on Wednesday after fans bombarded him with questions about the noticeable damage to his nose, prompting the 31-year-old to deliver a refreshingly candid explanation. 'Alright, let's just clear things up before we get right into this question box,' he began. '90% of the questions are like, is this from too much cocaine? Is this from too much partying?' And in classic Timm fashion, he didn't shy away from the rumours. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'We can't rule out that it wasn't from cocaine or partying 'cause I've done lots of that in my life' he said. 'But I stopped doing that about five years ago when I started Front Runner, and I still had two good nostrils when I ended my partying career,' he admitted. Timm went on to reveal the more likely culprit was a brutal stint in the ring. 'I did have a boxing camp after that, which I got absolutely f***ing pumped in… my nose got broken a couple of times, so I'm gonna say boxing - but we can't completely rule out the cocaine fking conspiracy,' he added with a laugh. 'But yeah, those days are over... I'm done with all that. Everything I do now has a purpose.' The Melbourne-based larrikin has been open about his decision to overhaul his lifestyle in recent years, trading in wild nights out for business meetings and early mornings. Back in 2020, Timm told Daily Mail Australia he was ready for a 'different stage' of his life, crediting his streetwear brand for helping him find purpose after years of partying. 'I'm in a really good place at the moment,' he said at the time. 'It's like part of growing up. It's sort of exciting. It's like I've stepped into a new world.' Timm, known for his cheeky charm and trademark tattoos, launched Front Runner as a way to channel his energy into something productive and positive. 'For the first time in my life I've actually been able to finish something,' he said. 'I normally get too distracted or never find the time to complete things.' In July of that year, he also revealed he'd chosen to go sober after noticing his binge drinking was 'getting out of control'. 'I wasn't a daily drinker, more of a weekend binge drinker, but it would set me back for ages,' he explained. Now focused on health, business and personal growth, Timm has turned his life around – and while he's not denying his chaotic past, he's determined to move forward.
