'We've been waiting all year for this' – Musketeers begin Clark Cup trek tonight at home against Fargo
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Sioux City Musketeers have goals of playing for the Clark Cup, but the biggest goal for the team is the one in front of them.
Sioux City is set to host Fargo in the first round of the USHL Clark Cup Playoffs, with Game 1 being the ninth meeting between the two teams. The Muskies are 7-0-1 against Fargo this season, with their only loss coming via shootout.
Sioux City has scored three or more goals in every game against Fargo and have kept the Force to three or fewer goals in all but three games.
Despite Sioux City's series dominane in the regular season, the postseason is a different type of beast only the best can conquer.
'It's a great privilege, we're really excited. We're ready to go. We've been waiting all year for this, and this is the time to go, so we're ready,' Musketeers captain Justin Stupka said.
'Our togetherness and our team play is at a high and it's the best it's ever been, so we're just looking to keep that going through the playoffs,' Musketeers defenseman Liam Hupka added.
'We start the season with 16 teams, now there's 12 teams, and in a couple days it's going to be down to 8 teams, so we're fortunate that we're here playing on home ice and we don't take that for granted,' Musketeers head coach Jason Kersner said. 'The opportunity to now be in the postseason hosting Fargo here at home, try to find a way to win two games.'
'Playoffs as a whole are like a whole other season, basically. Teams are trying to do one thing, you're trying to do another thing, so hopefully we can go out there, play our game, and they can adjust to us,' Musketeers forward Giacomo Martino highlighted.

Tampa Bay Lightning Re-Sign Defenseman Max Crozier To Three-Year Contract
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they have re-signed defenseman Max Crozier to a three-year contract. The contract is a two-way deal for the 2025-26 season and transitions to a one-way contract for the remaining two seasons. Advertisement Crozier served as an assistant captain and recorded 34 points in 52 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season and went pointless while averaging 16:41 of ice time in five games with the Lightning. The 25-year-old had a strong season and will take on even more responsibility moving forward. He has two assists in 18 career NHL games and 58 points in 110 career NHL games. Originally a fourth round selection of the Lightning in 2019, Crozier won the USHL's Clark Cup in 2018-19 with the Sioux Falls Stampede and was a two-time Hockey East Third Team All-Star. The North Vancouver, B.C., native had 17 goals and 71 points in 119 career games with the NCAA's Providence College, he also served as captain in 2022-23 before joining the Crunch. Three homeruns lead Sioux City past Canaries
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux City smacked three homeruns on Wednesday to power their way past the Canaries 4-2 at the Bird Cage. The Explorers scored a run in the second inning, one in the third and added another in the fifth before Calvin Estrada singled to bring home Mike Hart in the bottom half. Sioux City added another run in the eighth inning to increase their lead to 4-1. Josh Rehwaldt ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth but the Canaries could get no closer.
