Terence Crawford, the reigning undisputed welterweight boxing champion, recently addressed the situation during an interview with Ring Magazine. Known for capturing titles in multiple weight classes and for his dominant win over Errol Spence Jr., Crawford didn't mince words when asked about the UFC's on-air mix-up. His response was shared by Wade Plemons on X, 'I think they did that on purpose. They had to... What would be the point in saying I'm Kendrick Lamar?... At a fighting event. Come on now. It's crazy disrespectful. But I think it was intentional,' Crawford said.

That same night, UFC President Dana White addressed the situation during the post-fight press conference. He acknowledged the mix-up as a mistake and jokingly commented that Crawford 'did kind of look like Kendrick Lamar,' adding, 'Let's not f** around.'* 'That was pretty bad,' White admitted.

Despite the tension, Crawford is keeping his focus on the future. Crawford is preparing for a scheduled super fight with Canelo Alvarez at 168 lbs on September 12, and Dana White is reportedly involved in the promotion. Kendrick Lamar was the big winner at this year's BET Awards. Speaking about the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles - where Trump has sent around 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines - she said: "Trump is using military forces to stop protest. "I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be, when every time we exercise our democratic rights to protest, the military is deployed against us." What's more, Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg were all honoured in the BET Ultimate Icon Award category. Tristar's Mandel Nallo and Cage Warriors lightweight champion Samuel Silva are set to square off Sept. 2 on Dana White's Contender Series at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Nallo (13-3) competed eight times for Bellator from 2017 to 2023. He compiled a 4-3 record with one no contest, as the promotion struggled to find him fights. That problem continued when Nallo hit free agency in early 2023. Since then, he's 4-0 in MMA with an additional win in bareknuckle MMA. All five of those fights he finished inside the distance. Silva (13-4-1) empathically turned heads in March when he upset Cage Warriors champion George Hardwick in an epic five-round battle.
