Sheikh Al-Khazali: We welcome the leaders of brotherly Arab countries to Iraq
The Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl Al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali, expressed his welcome to the leaders of brotherly Arab countries coming to Iraq to participate in the Arab Summit on Tuesday.
"In Iraq, the land of peace and love, the land of prophets, imams, saints, and scholars, the capital of civilization, the symbol of authenticity, and the pride of history, we welcome the leaders of brotherly Arab countries, arriving as our guests at the 34th Arab Summit, in which our beloved country rises to the leadership position it deserves," said Sheikh Al-Khazali on X - followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He highlighted, "It is Iraq, which cannot be overlooked in the equations of challenge and building the future."
"We are hopeful that this summit will rise to the responsibility placed on Arab leaders, given the critical circumstances the region is experiencing, and will result in the decisions the Arab peoples are waiting for, to achieve the goodness, justice, and dignity they aspire to, by defending Arab rights and supporting our people in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria," he pointed out.

Shafaq News/ US President Donald Trump is committed to keeping Americans safe, both at home and abroad, a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Baghdad said in an exclusive statement to Shafaq News Agency on Wednesday. 'In keeping with that commitment, we are constantly assessing the appropriate personnel posture at all our embassies. Based on our latest analysis, we decided to reduce the footprint of our Mission in Iraq,' the spokesperson added. This came following an announcement from the embassy about a reduction in its staff in Iraq, confirming that the decision is part of broader regional measures aimed at ensuring the safety of American personnel. 'These steps concern the American diplomatic presence in several countries in the region, not Iraq alone,' A senior Iraqi government official told Shafaq News, adding that 'There are no security indicators on the Iraqi side that justify an evacuation.' The official reiterated that all available intelligence and security briefings point to increasing stability and internal security in Iraq. 'All Arab and foreign diplomatic missions operating in Iraq enjoy full freedom of movement, safe working conditions, and operational effectiveness across the country—not only in the capital, Baghdad,' the official noted.

Alawite teen killed at checkpoint as sectarian violence surges in Syria

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the teenager was riding to work with a companion on a motorcycle when they were stopped by gunmen affiliated with pro-government factions tied to the defense and interior ministries. The assailants questioned the pair about their sect before executing one and briefly detaining the other.
