Kaavia James Is a Sassy ‘Wild Card' on a Girls' Trip With Her Mom & Grandma
She may be Shady Baby to the world, but to her family, Kaavia James is just one wild 6-year-old! Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade's daughter joined her mom and grandma for a fun-filled girls' trip to the beach, and she definitely made the trip more lively with her sassy cuteness.
'Generations of wisdom — and one tiny wild card,' the Bring It On alum captioned a carousel of photos on Instagram. In it, Union smiles for the selfie, dressed in a bright orange seahorse bikini and a straw hat on a Los Angeles beach. Her mom stands next to her in a floral swimsuit, holding the hand of another woman (maybe a sister or cousin?) in a leopard-print swimsuit.

Kaavia James stands at the end, looking like a fashionista in a lavender, one-shoulder bikini top. Her hair is half-braided, half down in loose waves, and her face is painted like a magical unicorn as she makes a peace sign toward the water.
Union also shared a video of the two women and Kaavia walking toward the waves. She bends down to gather up water droplets and throw them in the air, and it's pure joy. Another sweet snap shows Kaavia and her mom hanging out on the beach. Union smiles, and Kaavia strikes a pose — complete with a perfect pout! — as she shows off her rainbow flower face paint and the flowers in her hair. You just know she brought the fun to this girls' trip.

The girls' trip was seemingly taken on Mother's Day, when Union had a party, and Kaavia had her hair and face paint done the same way. In some pictures, Kaavia wears a cute blue dress and kisses her mama. In others, she smiles next to her sister Zaya Wade. Later, Kaavia and Union smile in beach chairs with the water behind them.
'I may have daddy's face but I struck gold when I got your heart! ♥️' the post (written from Kaavia's perspective on her own Instagram) was captioned. 'Happy Mother's Day, mommy! @gabunion 💕'
Union shared more photos from that day on her own account, writing, 'Cheers to all the Moms, Grandmas, Aunties, Cousins (play and blood), Ma Dukes, Ma'Dears, Village Mothers, Neighborhood Mamas, Loving Caregivers, Childcare workers, and teachers doing the Lord's work, who mother us all and cover us in the light of goodness.' She added, 'All journeys are beautiful and none need to match anyone else's to be real and amazing. I thank you and I am you. ♥️✨'

Juneteenth celebration set for June 14
TUPELO — Every year, residents and officials alike gather at Gum Tree Park to celebrate the day the last slaves were notified of their emancipation following the American Civil War. Tupelo will host its annual Juneteenth Tupelo Freedom Celebration June 14 at 4 p.m. at Gum Tree Park, with a separate celebration set from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 19, the official day of the federal holiday. Both are free to attend. 'We are very excited. Each year gets better. Each year… more people become aware of not just the festival but also the history,' organizer Jennifer Lawrence said. 'We come from a people that persevered. They went through a lot of oppression but we are here. We are still growing and evolving and we are making strides.' Juneteenth, a portmanteau of June and 19th, marks the annual celebration of the day Union soldiers traveled to Texas to announced that all enslaved Black people in the state were now free, officially ending slavery in the United States. In 2021, former President Joe Biden signed a law naming the day a federal holiday. The Saturday, June 14, festivities will include music performances, multiple speakers, a barbecue cook-off, a kids zone, a dance contest and giveaways. As part of the event, four graduating Black high school seniors or college students each will receive a $300 Conway Goree Scholarship. There will be a mini motorbike raffle as well. Before the June 19 celebration at the park, Lawrence said there will be a march from Gum Tree Museum on main street up to the monument by the old courthouse. Musical performances include Rapper J, Unique JS, Geno Jones' FOCUS, KP & Favor, Genesis United of Starkville, Mighty Gospel Warriors, Lawrence McKenzie, Changed of Amory, Tay Cheesy Brand the Line Dance Queen, J. Green & The Smack Band, The Crossroads Band, EJ Soul, Music Doll TB and more. Before the event proper begins, there will be a parade that starts 3 p.m., starting at the C.C. Augustus Center on North Green Street. Organizers request those attending bring lawn chairs. On June 20, the second annual 'Freedom Face Up' basketball tournament will take place at the Tupelo Police Athletic League, 204 Douglas Street.
