Sayyid Khamenei: Tehran Will Not Abandon Uranium Enrichment
Baghdad – INA
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, affirmed on Wednesday that Tehran will not abandon uranium enrichment.
In a speech marking the anniversary of the passing of the founder of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini, monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Khamenei said: "The project proposed by the Americans completely contradicts the principle of 'We Can,' through which Imam Khomeini restored the Iranian people's self-confidence." He added, "The nuclear project is used to produce clean energy, and I hope specialists will explain its uses to the public."
He continued, "Resistance means standing up to the will of the superpowers," noting that "nuclear technology will not be achieved without enrichment to produce reactor fuel, and we will not extend our hands to others."
He explained: "Even if we had 100 nuclear reactors, they would be useless without our own production of nuclear fuel. Our insistence on obtaining 20% enriched uranium from abroad led us to produce it domestically."
He added, "Thousands of nuclear experts and scientists are being targeted by the Americans, who want them unemployed," adding that "American leaders are proposing to disrupt projects in all fields and oppose Iran's development."
He explained that "the U.S. administration is making many claims about dismantling the Iranian nuclear project."
He pointed out that "the United States is an accomplice in the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip. What is happening in the Strip is a real crime, and security in the region cannot be achieved by relying on the Zionist entity," adding that "the Zionist entity is doomed, and its end will not take long.

Iran: US travel ban 'racist'
Shafaq News/ Iran condemned the United States' renewed travel ban on Saturday, denouncing it as discriminatory and a violation of international human rights law. Alireza Hashemi Raja, Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Department for Affairs Abroad, described the restrictions as 'racist' and rooted in 'supremacist thinking' within US institutions. He criticized the policy for targeting Iranian nationals based solely on religion and nationality, calling it a clear breach of international legal standards, including equal treatment and non-discrimination. Iran slams Washington's racist move to ban entry of citizens from several countries into US The director general for the Department of Iranian Affairs Abroad at Iran's Foreign Ministry, Alireza Hashemi Raja, strongly condemned the recent decision by the US government to bar… — Foreign Ministry, Islamic Republic of Iran 🇮🇷 (@IRIMFA_EN) June 7, 2025 His remarks followed President Donald Trump's announcement of a new directive, effective Monday, barring citizens from 12 countries: Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Trump justified the move as necessary for national security and to prevent 'foreign terrorist' threats. Raja also warned the decision could violate international obligations and trigger legal consequences, urging the United Nations and human rights organizations to oppose what he called a politically driven measure that 'disenfranchises millions.'

Trump announces new round of US-China trade talks
Shafaq News/ On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that top American officials will meet with Chinese representatives for a new round of trade talks in London on June 9. Trump posted on Truth Social, that the US delegation will include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer. 'The meeting should go very well,' he wrote. The announcement followed a rare phone call between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which the two leaders addressed weeks of growing trade tensions, including disputes over critical mineral exports and tariff measures. Trump described the conversation as 'very positive,' reaffirming plans for continued talks. He had earlier acknowledged the challenges of securing a trade agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling the process 'extremely difficult,' as fresh tariffs on Chinese metal imports came into force. A fragile truce reached after the Geneva round in May, in which both countries agreed to temporarily lower tariffs—US duties dropped to 30% and China's to 10%—following earlier peaks of 145% and 125%, respectively. However, the temporary reductions are set to expire in early August. The US president recently accused Beijing of violating the pact, and US officials continue to cite delays in China's approval of critical mineral exports as a sticking point.
