Masked daredevil who climbed atop Roosevelt Island tram is charged in reckless stunt
The hooded daredevil caught on video recklessly scaling the Roosevelt Island tramway Monday and sending cops scrambling to bring him to safety has been charged in the stupid stunt.
Miguel Martinez, 20, of Oceanside, LI, was charged with reckless endangerment, obstruction of governmental administration and criminal trespass in the brazen incident that unfolded around 7 p.m., authorities said.
Footage obtained by The Post shows the masked Martinez nonchalantly walking back and forth along the gangway of the tramway's 250-feet-tall support tower on the Manhattan side.

At one point, he descends and climbs a series of short ladders on the tower and makes his way out onto an I-beam barely wide enough to accommodate his feet, the nail-biting video shows.

The brave first responders made their way to the tower's peak, secured Martinez in safety gear and brought him down to the ground unharmed, police said.

The thrill-seeker was taken by paramedics to Weill-Cornell Medical Center, according to the FDNY.
There was no indication that Martinez — who has no prior arrests in the Big Apple — scaled the tower as part of a protest or for a cause, cops said.

The 2025 race for New York City mayor is tightening, with former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's lead shrinking with less than a week to go until the crucial June 24 Democratic Party mayoral primary, a new poll indicates. A Marist Institute for Public Opinion poll released Wednesday shows that Cuomo – the former three-term governor – is the top choice for 38% of likely Democratic primary voters in New York City. Cuomo, who resigned in 2021 amid multiple scandals, is now eyeing a political comeback and working to redeem his image. Zorhan Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist state assemblyman from Queens, stands in second place in the poll, with 27% support in the primary, which is conducted using a ranked-choice voting system in which voters rank candidates by preference on their ballots. Mamdani, who is originally from Uganda, cut Cuomo's lead by nearly half from a Marist poll conducted a month ago, thanks in part to consolidating progressive support in the 11-candidate mayoral primary field. Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York City's most prominent leader on the left, endorsed Mamdani earlier this month. "Mamdani is clearly in Cuomo's rearview mirror," Marist polling director Lee M. Miringoff told Fox News. The poll indicates that New York City Comptroller Brad Lander is a distant third in the primary battle. The survey was conducted June 9-12, before the final debate between the candidates and ahead of Lander's arrest on Tuesday by Department of Homeland Security agents in Manhattan, after allegedly assaulting a federal officer as Lander tried to escort a defendant out of an immigration court. The poll was also conducted before the launch of an ad blitz questioning Mamdani's experience leading a city of more than 8 million people. "Zohran Mamdani's a 33-year-old dangerously inexperienced legislator who's passed just three bills with a staff you can fit inside a New York elevator," the narrator in a Cuomo campaign ad said. "We need someone ready to roll. Andrew Cuomo managed a state and managed crises, from COVID to Trump." Cuomo adviser and spokesperson Rich Azzopardi, when asked by Fox News about the new Marist survey, said, "This is the second poll in two days that showed Andrew Cuomo beginning and ending rank choice voting with a double-digit lead in a crowded multi-candidate race. These are serious times and New Yorkers know that Andrew Cuomo is the only candidate with the experience and the real record of results to fix what's broken and put the city back on the right track." The 67-year-old Cuomo has spent the past four years fighting to clear his name after 11 sexual harassment accusations, which he has repeatedly denied, forced his resignation. He was also under investigation at the time for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic amid allegations his administration vastly understated COVID-related deaths at state nursing homes. Last month, the Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into Cuomo after Republicans accused him of lying to Congress about the decisions he made as governor during the coronavirus pandemic. More than 130,000 Democrats have already cast ballots in early voting in the Democratic primary, ahead of next Tuesday's election. The winner of the Democratic Party primary is traditionally seen as the overwhelming frontrunner in the November general election in the heavily blue city. However, this year, the general election campaign may be a bit more unpredictable. Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, a moderate Democrat elected in 2021, is running for re-election as an independent. Adams earlier this year dropped his Democratic primary bid as his approval ratings sank to historic lows. While he is not on the ballot, President Donald Trump has taken center stage on the campaign trail in the closing weeks of the New York City primary battle. Cuomo and many of the other candidates in the race have heavily criticized Trump's recent move to place National Guard troops and U.S. Marines in Los Angeles in an effort to quell unrest sparked by an increase in ICE arrests of illegal immigrants orchestrated by the administration. Juror's Wild Living Situation Creates Drama In Diddy's Sex Trafficking Case
Source: Variety / Getty A Black male juror was excused from Sean 'Diddy' Combs sex trafficking trial after 'inconsistent' answers about where he lives. Combs' lawyers opposed the decision, claiming in a motion filed over the weekend that 'Combs would be substantially prejudiced by the dismissal.' On Monday, the judge made his decision final, telling Juror No. 6 to bounce. And his living situation is wild. According to Variety , the juror claimed on a questionnaire that he, his fiancée and his daughter lived in the Bronx. But after the trial began, he allegedly told another juror during a break, that he'd moved to New Jersey with his girlfriend. When questioned about his living situation the juror claimed that he had an apartment in the Bronx where he stays during the week, but he also spends time with his daughter and her mother in New Jersey. Oh, at one point he also claimed that he lived with an aunt but didn't mention her again when questioned about where he resides. Because the juror never explained his complex living situation (assuming that any of what he said was true,) Judge Arun Subramanian said there were too many 'inconsistencies' between the juror's answers in the court transcripts, which could be an attempt to 'shade answers' or 'be deceptive' just to get on the jury. 'There are serious questions about the juror's candor and the juror's ability to follow the court's instructions,' Subramanian said, Variety reports. The judge added that there are six alternate jurors on standby to preserve the 'integrity' of the court. 'Removal of the juror is required, in this court's view.' Xavier Donaldson, one of Combs' lawyers, objected the judge's decision noting that it's 'very, very common' for New Yorkers to move around the city and New Jersey. Donaldson added that the court was 'equating inconsistencies with lying.' 'I do believe he will be able to follow instructions,' Donaldson said, adding that Juror No. 6 has been 'awake — I can't say they all have been awake.' Wait, have jurors in the Diddy trial been falling asleep? Or does he mean 'awake' in the righteous sense of the word? Who knows. It appears that Diddy's lawyers were upset because they were losing a Black male juror from the Bronx (assuming that he actually lives in the Bronx) and the hope, I'm sure, was that this juror was going to be sympathetic to Diddy's plight. But I could be completely wrong. Donaldson noted that this jury was a diverse group and he didn't want to lose that diversity over miscommunication. 'That part is important to me and my client,' Donaldson said, adding that dismissing the juror would be 'a step backward.' 'I don't generally play the race card unless I have it in my hand,' Donaldson said. The prosecution was like, 'Look, fam. It's great that the jury is diverse but ol boy can't seem to figure out where he lives and that's why we have alternates.' I'm paraphrasing but you get the point. Variety notes that this is the sixth week of the trial and the prosecution should be finished calling its case this week. The defense will then have a chance to call witnesses. If found guilty of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, Diddy could face life in prison. See the latest reactions to the case below. Decatur man arrested after allegedly shooting mother in buttocks
Jun. 18—A Decatur man was charged with second-degree domestic violence last week after shooting his mother in the buttocks with a pistol, according to a Morgan County sheriff's investigator's affidavit filed Monday. According to the affidavit, deputies responded to a shooting call on June 10 at 424 Aday Road N.W. The caller told deputies that her son, 38-year-old Matthew Ryan Martinez, had shot her. Martinez's mother had not seen him in three months and he "randomly" showed up at her residence. "(The caller) advised that when Matthew came in her residence, she gave him a hug and Matthew did not show much affection and just patted her on the back," the affidavit said. The affidavit said Martinez's mother then went to sit on her couch and told him he could sit as well, but instead, he just stood by the front door and was not acting normally. He became hostile when his mother asked about his eBay business and began mumbling incoherently. After looking back at her TV, she heard Martinez say something like "Bye, Mom," and she heard gunshots shortly after. "(The caller) advised that she felt a burning pain in her buttocks and realized that Matthew had shot her," the affidavit said. "She said that as she was getting up, she heard Matthew leaving her property in his truck at a high rate of speed." Morgan County 911 then issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for Martinez and his vehicle, a white Nissan Titan four-door truck. The affidavit said Decatur police officers were able to stop Martinez in his truck a short time later. As they were searching the truck, officers located two handguns on the passenger side of the vehicle. "CSI recovered three spent 9mm casings at the scene," the affidavit said. Martinez was booked into Morgan County Jail at approximately 9:36 p.m. and released Monday after posting a $75,000 bond, according to court documents. — or 256-340-2442.
