$1.5M Ohio Medicaid fraudster pleads guilty
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – A woman accused of bilking Ohio Medicaid out of $1.8 million and later caught in Texas pleaded guilty in the case.
Janay Corbitt, 36, of Dayton, pleaded guilty to felony theft charges and identity fraud.
Corbitt was indicted in May 2024 following a state investigation, but the Attorney General's Office revealed Crobitt stole the identities of several people so she could open and operate two sham behavioral health counseling agencies in the Dayton area, fraudulently collecting $1.5 million from Medicaid.
Corbitt was arrested at a bus stop in Dallas.
A previous theft conviction in 2019 had barred her from the Medicaid program.
'Her luck has run out – kudos to our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for bringing this scheme to light,' said Ohio Attorney General David Yost.
Corbitt's sentencing is scheduled for April 17.

Fraudulent OB/GYN sentenced to 10 years in prison
CHICAGO — A fraudulent OB/GYN, who pleaded guilty last summer for bilking Medicaid and private insurance, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Dr. Mona Ghosh owned Progressive Women's Healthcare, located in Hoffman Estates, and was accused of submitting fraudulent claims to Medicaid and other private insurance companies from 2018 to 2022. A total of 17 women spoke during the federal sentencing hearings, which concluded Monday morning after being adjourned on May 29. Several women told stories of how Ghosh charged their insurance companies for visits that didn't happen. Others described the unnecessary tests and procedures she performed. 'I felt like she supported me. In turn, when I'm finding the medical bills coming back for things that never happened, she fed on my vulnerability, on my weakness,' a woman said. Several women shared that they went to Ghosh for a routine pap smear, or cervical cancer screening, and were told results were abnormal. Fearful that they could have cancer, they agreed to get a biopsy. Witnesses said while they were sedated, Ghosh performed other procedures instead, including ones they said have affected their fertility. 17 women share emotional experiences during sentencing of fraudulent OB/GYN Ghosh directed her own employees to submit the fraudulent claims as well. She admitted in the plea agreement that she is accountable for more than $1.5 million. The judge Monday ordered restitution to insurance providers of $1.5 million. Restitution to the victims was ordered in the amount of $605.02. The judge explained that he could only impose restitution to patients based on actual losses for unnecessary and unwanted procedures under specific situations. Wildcats, drugs seized from PA home
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WKBN) — Two people were arrested in Clearfield County for drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child after thousands of dollars worth of drugs were seized, along with two wildcats. According to a release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, in collaboration with PSP and the Clearfield County District Attorney's Office, officers recovered two live African wildcats, which appeared to be unlawfully possessed. Jennifer Dixon, 27, and Nicholas Rumsey, 33, are each charged with possession with intent to distribute, endangering the welfare of a child, and other related drug charges. In the search of the property, officers seized: About three pounds of methamphetamine, valued at $19,200 About 159 grams of fentanyl, valued at $63,000 About nine grams of heroin, valued at $3,600 Other drug paraphernalia The Pennsylvania State Game Commission is investigating the conduct regarding the wildcats. Court records state Dixon was charged on Thursday, denied bail and is due back in court for a hearing on Wednesday. Rumsey has not yet been arraigned as of Monday morning, according to court records. 'Our agents never know what they're going to find when they prepare for a search at a residence, and this case was no exception,' Attorney General Dave Sunday said in a news release. 'The agents' seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and heroin ensures those drugs will not harm surrounding communities. The recovery and rescue of these wildcats provides the animals with opportunities to live safer, healthier lives – not caged in the basement of this home. Fugitive of the Week known to be in local area
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The U.S. Marshals Fugitive of the Week has been wanted since 2020. Marshals are looking for Stashon Williams, 39, who is wanted on warrants from 2020 in the U.S. Northern District Court of Ohio on drug trafficking charges. Williams is known to have been in Cleveland, Warren and Youngstown. Williams was one of 11 people indicted in September 2020 for selling drugs in the Warren area. They were accused in a 92-count indictment of selling fentanyl and cocaine in Warren between March 2019 and February 2020. Members of the alleged ring used homes on Hamilton Avenue NW, Oriole Place, Austin Avenue, Kenilworth Avenue NE, Tod Avenue, Webb Court, Dover Avenue NW and Union Street to sell drugs. Williams faces charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, fentanyl and heroin, and three counts of use of a communications facility in furtherance of a drug crime. Ten of the 11 defendants have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced. Williams is described as 6 feet tall and 215 pounds.
