90 arrests made during Donegal International Rally weekend
Gardaí have confirmed that a total of 90 arrests were made during the Donegal International Rally weekend.
A total of 30 arrests were made for drink and drug driving while a further 51 people were arrested for public order incidents.

A total of 45 vehicles were seized by gardaí from Thursday to Monday in several villages and towns.
A number of those arrested appeared at Letterkenny District Court and had their cases dealt with.
Many more suspected of drink and drug driving will appear at future dates.
Gardaí confirmed they also dealt with many other types of incidents such as alleged assaults, drug searches and detections, road traffic collisions, criminal damage incidents, burglaries, thefts as well as domestic and mental health related calls.

Tens of thousands of visitors came to Donegal for the event.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed "The Donegal International Rally drew big crowds into the County, most especially into Letterkenny.
"An extensive Policing Operation was in Place for the event, the public order Units were out on patrol each night, the Roads Policing Units were on patrol day and night and they were operating checkpoints and speed checks.
"Motorcyclists were out patrolling and regular uniformed Garda members were out on the beat and on bikes conducting patrols as well as responding to regular calls.

"The Garda Helicopter was around over the weekend also to assist as was a detector dog with the Revenue Customs Service. We also were grateful to have the assistance of some of our Reserve Garda members over the weekend."
Gardaí thanked all those who came to Donegal at the weekend and who complied with the law.
"The vast majority of the visitors to the County were a pleasure to deal with but as always there is a cohort of people who arrive every year for rally weekend with no intention of abiding by any rules.
"Thankfully these people are very much in the minority and we wish to stress that. For the most part, we enjoyed engaging with the many visitors to the county in the lovely sunshine at the weekend and we look forward to doing it all again in 2026."

Man arrested over fatal hit-and-run incident in Co Dublin
A man has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run incident in Co Dublin. The collision took place in Railway Street, Balbriggan, after 9pm on Monday. Man claims gardaí in riot gear beat him and broke his shoulder
A jury has been sworn in at the High Court for the case of a Dublin man who alleges that gardaí in riot gear beat him and broke his shoulder on Halloween night almost 17 years ago as he was cycling to investigate a fire next to his partner's home. Gerard McCarthy (55), from Abbotstown Avenue in Finglas, Dublin 11, is suing the commissioner of An Garda Síochána, the Minister for Justice, Ireland and the Attorney General, claiming that he was falsely imprisoned and assaulted by gardaí on Halloween, October 31 and November 1, 2008. Advertisement The defendants deny the claims and on Tuesday at the High Court a jury of six men and six women was sworn in to hear the case in front of Mr Justice Alexander Owens. Mr McCarthy was 38 at the time of the alleged assault and has submitted to the court he was with his partner in her home on Findlater Street, near O'Devaney Gardens, in north inner city Dublin, on the night. Findlater Street backs on to what used to be the O'Devaney Gardens flat complex. Mr McCarthy submits that on October 31st, 2008, two separate fires broke out on the other side of his partner's back wall at the apartment complex. He became concerned, he said, after smoke had billowed into the apartment through a rear extension. There was an electric shower in the extension and he was concerned it would catch fire, he said. Mr McCarthy claims he cycled out to investigate and noticed gardaí in plain clothes nearby before he separately encountered gardaí in riot gear at the edge of O'Devaney Gardens. He said they charged him as he tried to turn his bicycle away. The plaintiff claims he heard the words "charge" from the riot gardaí, who numbered between 10 and 12. He said he was struck on both shoulders, his back and then legs while still on his bike in an attack that took between five and ten seconds. After the alleged assault, Mr McCarthy attended the Mater Hospital that night but was anxious and dizzy and returned in the morning to have an X-Ray. Mr McCarthy claims that his X-Ray revealed a broken shoulder close to the collar bone. He said he was numb "all over" with the pain and still in "shock". The case continues on Thursday before Mr Justice Owens and is expected to last up to four days.

Two men rushed to hospital after incident on ship docked at Foynes Port
Two people have been injured following an incident onboard a ship docked at Foynes Port in Co Limerick. The incident occurred shortly after 7pm on Tuesday.
