NORTH PORT, Fla. - A Sarasota man accused of exposing himself in public was arrested Tuesday after getting into a chase with a North Port police officer, which ended in a crash.
The North Port Police Department said Issa Mousa Alyan, 69, was arrested on multiple charges after the incident.

Officers said they received reports of a man exposing himself at the Heron Creek Towne Center Tuesday afternoon. The suspect, identified by police as Alyan, was found sitting in his car with his pants undone when the officer arrived in the area.
As the officer tried to question Alyan, they said he placed his vehicle in gear and began driving in reverse, hitting the officer's patrol car. After that, authorities said the suspect put his vehicle in drive.
The officer had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit by the suspect's vehicle, according to NPPD.

A pursuit began as Alyan recklessly drove down Sumter Boulevard to the northbound lanes of U.S. 41, according to police. Because the suspect refused to stop, the officer used a "controlled intervention maneuver," causing a crash, but bringing the chase to an end near the roundabout at a Costco.
Alyan is facing the following charges:
Exposure of sexual organs (misdemeanor)
Criminal mischief (felony)
Fleeing and eluding (felony)
Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (felony)
Possession of narcotics and paraphernalia (charges pending further investigation)
The officer involved in the incident was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, the police department confirmed. They have not detailed the extent of the officer's injuries.
Alyan was also taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

The Brief A new phone scam is targeting family members of Pinellas County Jail inmates, according to the sheriff's office. The suspect will tell them that their family member in jail will be released if a payment is made via Cash App or by depositing funds into a cryptocurrency ATM. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says this type of transaction would never happen. CLEARWATER, Fla. - Family members of Pinellas County Jail inmates have been the target of recent phone scams, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Detectives say that the suspect will call and identify himself as "Sergeant Matthews" or "Sergeant Rudolph." He will then tell them that their family member in jail will be released if a payment is made via Cash App or by depositing funds into a cryptocurrency ATM. Investigators say that other victims have been directed to the Sheriff's Office Administration Building on Ulmerton Road or to the Criminal Justice Center on 49th Avenue North in order to legitimize the scheme. ORLANDO, Fla. - A Deland man is facing multiple charges after allegedly strangling and falsely imprisoning his ex-girlfriend during a domestic disturbance in Palm Coast, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. What we know Deputies responded late Friday night to a residence on Reybury Lane after a concerned citizen reported a possible domestic disturbance. Investigators said Edgar Lopez, 26, arrived at his ex-girlfriend's home with flowers and asked to come inside. Once inside, he refused to leave and became violent when the victim tried to call 911. Lopez allegedly grabbed the phone, blocked the front door, and used a towel to muffle the victim's screams, authorities said. The victim told deputies she was held against her will and battered for about two hours before managing to escape and call for help. Lopez fled before deputies arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was later taken into custody by the DeLand Police Department. Lopez was charged with false imprisonment, tampering with a witness, battery by strangulation, and domestic violence battery.
