India slams OIC for its unwarranted and factually incorrect references

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) India on Monday slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
for its 'unwarranted and factually incorrect' references at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting and said these statements, driven by Pakistan which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends.
The External Affairs Ministry, while outright rejecting the 57-member OIC's references to India's internal matters, said the OIC's repeated failure to acknowledge the real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently evidenced in the heinous Pahalgam attack, reflects a wilful disregard for facts and the global consensus on the fight against terrorism.
'The OIC has no locus standi to comment on India's internal affairs, including Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and sovereign part of India — a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled,' the Ministry said in a statement.
It said the OIC should reflect deeply on the perils of allowing Pakistan's propaganda to hijack and politicise its agenda. Any other course can only undermine the OIC's credibility and relevance.
It said the comments made by Pakistan at the OIC meeting "are nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect international attention from its own appalling record of state-sponsored terrorism, minority persecution and sectarian violence, apart from failure of governance".
India also outright rejects Pakistan's baseless allegation of "unprovoked and unjustified military aggression".
India's Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack was a precise and legitimate act of self-defence against terrorist camps operating from Pakistani territory. 'It is absurd for Pakistan to speak of targeting only Indian military installations when its retaliatory attempts not only failed but recklessly endangered civilian lives and property and ended up causing several deaths and injuries among the civilian population,' the MEA statement said.
It is also ironic that Pakistan, a country with an abysmal human rights record and a history of sheltering, breeding and empowering terrorists, should lecture others on counter-terrorism and human rights, the MEA statement said.
The OIC had in its Istanbul Declaration adopted during the two-day 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, renewed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

India slams OIC for ‘incorrect' remarks that reflect ‘Pakistan's influence'

India slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday (June 24, 2025) for 'unwarranted' and 'factually incorrect' remarks that were made under the influence of Pakistan, a state that has turned terrorism into 'statecraft.' India's reactions came after a two-day foreign ministerial conclave of the OIC in Türkiye criticised New Delhi on a range of issues, including 'social marginalisation' of Indian Muslims. The OIC also called for strict adherence to bilateral pacts between India and Pakistan, including the Indus Waters Treaty, and stressed the need for a broad-based dialogue for peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes. Editorial | Prime message: On India's strong line and Pakistan 'India categorically rejects the unwarranted and factually incorrect references at the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers' meeting,' the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. Misuse of the OIC platform 'These statements, driven by Pakistan, which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends,' it said. The MEA said the OIC's repeated 'failure' to acknowledge the real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently evidenced in the heinous Pahalgam attack, reflects a 'wilful disregard' for facts. It said, 'The OIC has no locus standi to comment on India's internal affairs, including Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and sovereign part of India — a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled.' 'The OIC should reflect deeply on the perils of allowing Pakistan's propaganda to hijack and politicise its agenda. Any other course can only undermine the OIC's credibility and relevance,' the MEA said. It said India also 'outrightly rejects' Pakistan's baseless allegation of 'unprovoked and unjustified military aggression'. Harbouring terrorists 'India's Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack was a precise and legitimate act of self-defence against terrorist camps operating from Pakistani territory,' the MEA said. 'It is absurd for Pakistan to speak of targeting only Indian military installations when its retaliatory attempts not only failed but recklessly endangered civilian lives and property and ended up causing several deaths and injuries among the civilian population. DRDO offers 28 indigenous weapon systems to defence forces for emergency procurement

In line with the government's self-reliance push, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has offered 28 existing weapon systems that it designed and developed, for emergency procurement by the armed forces. 'Under emergency procurement, all three forces — the Army, Navy and the Air Force — are allowed to add new and replenish existing weapon systems as per their requirement. There is a long list of weapons like rockets, missiles, grenades, anti-drone missiles, and many more that the DRDO is offering to defence forces,' sources said. Opinion: Lessons from Operation Sindoor's global outreach The development comes at a time the government has already approved emergency arms procurement powers for forces. Befitting reply A top source in the Defence Ministry said that it was a well-established fact that during Operation Sindoor, the indigenously developed weapons performed well and gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and thwarted its attack. The government has also made it clear on several platforms that Operation Sindoor is still on. To make the procurement smooth for the Army, the Indian Air Force and the Navy, the DRDO has given them a list of vendors and products (weapons). The list includes the names of private defence manufacturers and public sector undertakings (PSUs). The forces have been given the option to order from a list of 28 different pieces of equipment, including 14 for the Army, eight for the Navy, and six for the Indian Air Force. The DRDO has been the main developer of weapons for Indian defence forces. Its BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, MRSAM air-edge fence missile systems, and Akash air-edge fence systems were behind the success of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. On May 10, following retaliation by Pakistan, Indian defence forces conducted strikes on Pakistani airbases, including Murid and Nur Khan.

Bring them back, say kin of Bahriach men stuck in Israel

Bahraich: With Iran and Israel locked in the missile war, hundreds of workers from Bahraich are stranded in the war-torn Jewish country. These men had migrated to Israel for employment nearly a year ago and are now stranded in the war-torn country due to suspension of flights. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The workers, employed across various companies in Israel, have expressed deep fear over the ongoing hostilities between the two nations. "The situation is very tense here. We hear sirens and news of attacks, and we are scared for our lives," said one of the Indian workers, requesting anonymity for safety reasons. In Mihipurwa area of Bahraich alone, over 150 labourers were sent to Israel for work following the earlier war between Israel and Ukraine, which led to a labour shortage and increased demand for foreign workers. Back home, families are pleading with the Indian govt to ensure the safe return of their loved ones. Kamalawati, the wife of Gopal, a labourer working in Israel for the past year, said, "My husband has been working hard and living there peacefully. But now, with this war, we are terrified. We urge the govt to bring him back safely." Similarly, the families of Sandeep and Sanjay, two brothers working in Israel, expressed growing fear. "We just want our sons to return home safely. This war has made us sleepless. Adding to the distress, several international flights have been cancelled due to the conflict, leaving the stranded workers with no clear way to return. The cancellation of flights has intensified the anxiety of their families, who are desperately awaiting news and any possible evacuation efforts. Local authorities and family members are now urging the ministry of external affairs to intervene promptly and coordinate with Israeli officials to arrange for the safe evacuation of all Indian nationals currently stuck in the region.
