With the 4 Nations Faceoff kicking off tonight, it's an ideal time for teams like the Detroit Red Wings to take stock.
With the trade deadline less than a month away and the summertime following a few months later, it may be wise for the organization to look at the prospect pool. Most teams are (probably) already doing this.
Here is a list of four Red Wings prospects that the organization must decide what to do with. If the team doesn't offer these players a contract before August 15th, 2025, it will no longer have the rights to them.
Kyle Aucoin is a 6-foot, 185-pound defender who plays for Harvard University in the NCAA. He is the son of Adrian Aucoin (yes, that one).
Aucoin is in his last year of the NCAA, so he will be thinking about his future. Unfortunately, he isn't the most offensively gifted defender.
The 2020 6th-round draft pick scored his first goal in the NCAA this season. Aucoin has three points this year, the most he has had in his NCAA career.
Sam Stange is a fourth-round draft pick selected 97th overall in the 2020 entry draft. He is another Red Wings product who is playing in the NCAA.
Stange is a 6-foot-1 right winger who is having a breakout season. With 25 points in 28 games, he's more than doubled his previous record. He is also a player of good character, considering that he wears an "A" for the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Red (Redmond) Savage was another 2020 fourth-round draft pick. Unfortunately, his season was cut short.
At the end of January, the University of Michigan head coach announced that Savage would miss the remainder of the season. This was a big blow to the team, as he served as its captain. In 20 games this year, he recorded 11 points.
Liam Dower Nilsson could be a big steal for the Red Wings. The 2021 draft pick is currently playing for IF Bjorkloven of the HockeyAllsvenskan.
He has 37 points in 44 games. This is his third season playing in the HockeyAllsvenskan league, and each year, his point production has improved, from 15 to 27 and now 37.
We will see what happens between now and August 15th. For now, Red Wings fans can enjoy seeing Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin compete in the 4 Nations Faceoff.

Team Twp took first place, with team RLYL in second and Four's Company in third. The new season of quizzes will begin in September.

One thing is guaranteed at the 2025 College World Series: A new champion will be crowned. For the first time in the super regional era, no team that reached the College World Series in 2024 will appear in the tournament this year. That's quite the turnaround, and should guarantee the field is more wide open than it's been in recent years, especially after reigning champion Tennessee was eliminated Sunday. College World Series schedule The 2025 College World Series will begin Friday, June 13, and run through Monday, June 23 at the latest. Two games are scheduled each day from Friday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 18. The first game will start at 2 p.m. ET each of those days, with the second game starting at 7 p.m. ET. The College World Series has not released which teams will play in those games yet. If necessary, games will be played Thursday, June 19, ahead of the finals. Possible times have not been announced if games need to be played Thursday. Advertisement Game 1 of the finals is slated for Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. ET. A total of eight teams advance to play in the College World Series in Omaha. Those eight teams are determined after a 64-team tournament featuring NCAA DI schools. Those final eight teams then play in two brackets, with the winners facing off in a best-of-three series in the finals. Is the College World Series double elimination? The College World Series is a double-elimination tournament. That means a team must lose two games before it's eliminated. Teams that lose their first-round games are put in an elimination bracket. One team eventually emerges from that bracket to play against the undefeated team in their bracket. An undefeated team must lose twice to get eliminated, which is why "if necessary" games are scheduled for June 19. The team that wins two games will be the champion. College World Series channel, how to watch 2025 event ESPN will broadcast nearly every single game of the College World Series. There are a few exceptions in 2025, however. The 7 p.m. ET game on Sunday, June 15, will air over on ESPN2, likely due to "Sunday Night Baseball." Game 2 of the finals will air on ABC. That contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 22. If a Game 3 is necessary in the finals, ESPN will broadcast that game.
