During her holiday, a woman was left astounded by the price tag on her fish and chips order. Suzanna, known for her travel vlogs, shared her astonishment online over the cost of her meal. The TikTok user, who posts under suzannatravelsolo, relished the dish at her "favourite" dining establishment while vacationing in Egypt, setting the mood with a bottle of Prosecco in her hotel room before heading out. She took her followers along to a cherished eatery in Luxor known as The Lantern Room Restaurant. Accompanied by a friend, Suzanna went to what she considers the best English restaurant in the vicinity. She pointed out that it's tucked away on a side street in Luxor, a venue she frequents during her travels.
The video tour included a look at the menu where starters are priced around £2 each, with Suzanna confessing her preference for the garlic mushrooms.

Main courses at the restaurant feature a variety of classic options, but Suzanna chose the traditional fish, chips and mushy peas. She described the meal as nothing short of "beautiful."

To top off her dining experience, Suzanna enjoyed a cup of tea, and the total bill amounted to £8 per person. She coined it remarkable "unbelievable value for money."
In response, a social media user expressed their envy, commenting: "Aw, this would be my dream. I adore Egypt after my first visit. Loving your content."
One enthusiastic traveller wrote: "What a lovely life you have Suzanna - just tracking the world and having a great time. Love your content. Have a lovely time in Luxor and on the cruise."

A different user commented, expressing their amazement at the affordability: "Looks yummy, so cheap." Meanwhile, someone else, seemingly yearning for a getaway themselves, said: "I wish I could get time off work."

Nestled in Upper Egypt, Luxor stands proudly on the eastern bank of the Nile River, boasting a vast array of historical treasures and ancient attractions. Serving as the governorate's capital, Luxor draws a myriad of tourists keen to explore what has come to be recognised as the "world's greatest open-air museum", owing to the blend of ancient Egyptian landmarks peppered throughout the bustling city.

The wealth of unique experiences offered by Luxor keeps visitors coming back, and this is true not only for its archaeological marvels, but also its contemporary offerings such as The Lantern Room Restaurant, which has attracted high praise on TripAdvisor.
Garnering an impressive average rating of 4.7 out of 5, diners frequently applaud the establishment for various aspects.
One diner complimented the venue, sharing: "Great atmosphere and decor - friendly welcome, good choice of international and Egyptian cuisine. All cooked in their restaurant to a high standard - highly recommend this resturant."

Another shared their delightful dining experience, elaborating: "Small restaurant, very friendly. Very friendly staff. And above all we eat very well... the Shish Tawook is excellent, as well as the lentil soup. The other dishes are just as tasty. All for a very reasonable price."
A third individual enthused: "This is a great little restaurant offering European and Egyptian food. They also do a good British Sunday roast, highly recommended, but best to book.
"I recommended it to guests staying at my hotel, and they were so impressed they went back three times during their stay - says it all really."

Subsequently, one more added: "As always a welcoming ambience. The decor has changed the last few years which is really lovely. My family and I have been coming here over 20 years.
"Tonight I had fish and chips - a small portion, which was amazing. Just right to then have apple crumble and ice cream. Again the food is top notch.
"The place and staff couldn't be nicer. The prices are very good. For sure the best place in Luxor. Cannot wait to come back again."

Cut-price train operator Lumo is to launch new Stirling-London services next year, providing three Scottish settlements with their first direct link to the English capital. The company announced on Monday it will run five services a day from the spring after its plans were approved by rail regulators. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad They will operate via North Lanarkshire and the west coast main line, using second-hand diesel trains until new electric ones are delivered. The trains Lumo plans to use on the new service | Lumo Lumo has run London-Edinburgh services with brand new electric trains on the east coast line since 2021, which it hopes to win approval to extend to Glasgow. It said the new Stirling service would give Larbert, Greenfaulds, near Cumbernauld, and Whifflet, near Coatbridge, their first London link. Passengers will travel in five class 222 six-carriage trains which will also call at Motherwell, Lockerbie, Carlisle, Preston, Crewe, Nuneaton, Milton Keynes and London Euston. Lumo's parent company, FirstGroup, bought the firm in is an "open access" operator which does not receive government funding, unlike east coast rivals LNER, which runs far more trains which also stop at many more stations. The new service will see it compete for passengers on the English section of the west coast line with sister firm Avanti West Coast, which is also owned by FirstGroup. Open access operators are concerned about their future under the Labour UK Government, which is nationalising English train firms, but the Conservatives said such operators should be "championed". Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Affordable, fast and convenient' Lumo managing director Martijn Gilbert said: 'Today's announcement underscores Lumo's commitment to growing Scotland's rail network, providing passengers with more affordable, fast, and convenient travel options. "Our new service between Stirling and London has the potential to unlock significant economic opportunities for communities along the route, and we're proud to deliver this direct rail connectivity to towns previously overlooked by traditional rail services. "We are focused on further expanding our services in Scotland to ensure even greater connectivity across the country and the whole UK.' Scottish Conservatives transport spokesperson Sue Webber said: 'Lumo is actively investing in our capital city, not only bringing in tourists but also supporting our vibrant hospitality and events sector. "Crucially, this is being delivered not by government mandate, but through private sector innovation and open access investment. "That's why I believe this model is one we should be championing.

Bloating: Foods to eat and avoid Eating the right foods can prevent bloating as well as reduce when it occurs. But it depends entirely on what your symptoms are. If you are bloated and constipated, eat: Fruits and vegetables Bran flakes Oats Skin-on potatoes Dried fruits such as apricots and raisins If you have trapped wind, avoid: Cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale Beans (baked, kidney, butter) Lentils These foods, including pulses like beans and lentils, are good to add into the diet slowly as they are high in fibre. While they are not advisable to help in the moment, they do help in the long-run by boosting gut health. Try adding them slowly into your diet. If you are bloated with diarrhoea, you may have a stomach bug and should eat: Plain foods: bananas, white rice, bread or toast Boiled potatoes Oatmeal Small and frequent meals Other tips for preventing bloating are: Exercise regularly Chew with your mouth shut Eat smaller more frequent meals than large meals Avoid fizzy drinks, alcohol or caffeine Limit processed, sugary, spicy or fatty foods One person said: 'I've never heard of these! Thank you.' Another added: 'Omg been looking for a solution for this for years.' Meanwhile, one woman beamed: 'They're amazing, only thing that's worked for me.'
