Lakeview seniors post top marks for state title hopes
STONEBORO, Pa (WKBN) – Lakeview track & field has been climbing the state ranks in April with the help of senior talent.
At the 60th Butler Invitational in mid-April, two Lakeview track athletes got results that scored them at the top of the state in PIAA 2A.
'We have opportunities, two or three different opportunities to be on the medal stand or at the top of it,' said Lakeview coach Ryan Harold. 'It's something that doesn't happen every year.'
Senior thrower Kyndra Seddon posted a mark of 131′ 5″ in discus at the Butler Invitational, which shot her to the top of the state in 2A at the time.
'Try to not think about it too much because there's a lot of competition in Double-A,' said Seddon. 'Just trying to stay consistent and slowly building so that I don't peak too early in the season.'
Senior Blake Skiles recorded a 23′ 2.25″ in long jump at the same invitational and at the time also was the best in the state in 2A.
'After I jumped out, I was just super stoked it was number 23, I've been waiting for it all year,' said Skiles.
Skiles has also set school records in the long jump and 200m this season.
The team as a whole has been successful all season, as the boys have already won the District 10 Region One title, and the girls being the Region runner-up. This is the fifth straight regional title for the Sailor boys.
Also, at the Harbor Creek Invitational in mid-April, Lakeview's boys and girls 4 X 400m relay teams each won first place. The boys' winning time broke a record set in 2014 with a time of 3:29.88.
'I knew we were running something pretty crazy for this time of the season,' said junior runner James Alexander.
Coach Harold has been at the helm for 18 years, and with his senior talent, he said earning state titles is a real possibility.
'This is probably one of the first times where I'm like, wow, we have multiple chances to get a gold down there,' said Harold.
'It's awesome, I can't wait to just go to Shippensburg and get ready for a championship spot,' said Skiles.

Bryce Harper placed on 10-day injured list as Phillies call up prospect Otto Kemp
Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, with the team calling up prospect Otto Kemp to take his place on the roster. On Friday, manager Rob Thomson told reporters that the 32-year-old first baseman was dealing with soreness in his wrist from hitting — the team later revealed that inflammation on his wrist was causing the discomfort. Harper missed five games after getting hit with a 95 mph fastball on his surgically repaired elbow. But until now, the Phillies were unable to avoid the injured list. Advertisement While Harper's absence is not ideal, Kemp has been impressive in the Triple-A ranks. Kemp has hit .313/.416/.594 for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs this season, leading the International League with 14 home runs and 55 RBI. Apart from his hitting success, Kemp has shown his versatility, making 33 starts at third base, 10 at second and seven at first and in left field. The Phillies are likely to play him alongside Alec Bohm in the infield corner on Saturday. Kemp played Division II baseball at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego before signing with the Phillies on a minor-league contract in 2022. Harper is in his 14th MLB season and seventh in Philadelphia. He arrived in Philadelphia after seven seasons with the Washington Nationals. So far this season, Harper has nine home runs and 34 RBI. The Phillies are 37-26, sitting second in the NL East. They hope to even the score in their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 4:05 p.m. ET.

Auburn baskeball: Tigers to host A-Sun squad to close 2025 portion of schedule
Auburn baskeball: Tigers to host A-Sun squad to close 2025 portion of schedule The Dec. 29 contest will signal the second season in a row Auburn has hosted a team from the Atlantic Sun The Auburn Tigers played one of, it not the hardest non-conference schedule in program history a season ago. It paid off, with Bruce Pearl's squad racking up nation-best 19 Quadrant 1 victories on its way to the second Final Four appearance in Auburn history. While Pearl and his staff are unlikely to scheme up a schedule as difficult as last year's version, the Tigers will certainly hope to once again build up themselves before the grinding nature of the SEC season. That process, which has already included an appearance in a loaded 'Players Era' tournament field and home-and-home series contests against Houston, Purdue, and Arizona, continued this week, as CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein reported the Tigers are set to A-Sun program Queens to close out the 2025 portion of the schedule. The game, which is reportedly set for Dec. 29 at Neville Arena, will signal the second season in a row Auburn has hosted a team from the Atlantic Sun. Last season the Tigers beat the brakes off of in-state opponent, North Alabama, last November. The 102-69 victory was impressive at the time, but turned into an even more significant win after the Lions finished just a game shy of the NCAA Tournament last season. Queens on the other hand was not nearly as successful, although the 20-15 Royals did drive eventual A-Sun Champion Lipscomb to the brink with an 81-75 loss in the A-Sun Tournament semi-finals. Bruce Pearl's Auburn Tigers will likely be heavily favored in their final game before they ring in the new year, but the Royals, like North Alabama last year, play in a conference loaded with talent across the board.
