Rhyl High: Child was videoed being ‘beat up' by fellow pupil
The Journal has been shown a video of the incident, which took place on Monday (June 2).
It is understood that this video was shared widely on WhatsApp by other pupils.
The father of the victim of the assault has criticised the school for the way in which it has dealt with the matter, while North Wales Police has also been informed.
He told the Journal: 'My child was beaten up on video inside Rhyl High School, while kids surrounded the fight and screamed: 'kill him'.
'The school failed to protect him and isn't being held accountable. I just want to raise awareness that these things are happening in the school, as it could have ended much worse.'
The father said he said he was informed in a meeting on Wednesday (June 4) that the alleged perpetrator's parents have 'been spoken to', but he said he was dissatisfied with how the meeting went.
He added: 'After this, we have now decided to move our child to another school, as we do not believe he is safe there and we have lost trust in the staff.
'No-one from the school told us our child had been attacked, either. It took our child to come home and tell us he'd been battered again.'
Denbighshire County Council declined to comment, and said it is a matter for Rhyl High School to deal with.
Rhyl High School did not respond to a request for a statement.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that we have received a report that an assault took place at the school involving a pupil.
'Our inquiries are underway.'

A teenage boy was allegedly gang raped by five of his classmates during a school trip, leaving him in a catatonic state. The victim, now 16, was just 13 years old when the horror incident occurred during the sports trip to Malaga, Spain. According to a reconstruction of the sickening turn of events, some of those involved had said: "let him suffer, let him suffer, I want to see him suffer." The teen was reportedly blackmailed into keeping quiet while suffering humiliation every day, and received 300 malicious phone calls from one of the perpetrators, with more threats sent via social media. He endured it for another two months before collapsing in his mother's arms and falling into a catatonic state. The trauma is said to have caused amnesia, which he has since sought help for from a psychologist. He was taken to hospital, and admitted a further three times over 35 days. The psychologist raised the alarm, reporting the alleged incident and abuse to the boy's school and the police. The teen was able to remember his alleged attackers' names in his first appointment with the psychologist, but could not recall all the details. Two years later, one person was charged in Valencia's Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, and could face 15 months locked up if found guilty. The others said to be involved were either too young to be charged with a criminal offence, or their involvement has not yet been proven. According to MailOnline, a teacher at the victim's school said: "Everyone at school knows a student was raped. The principal banned trips and overnight activities outside of Valencia after the complaint, ten children in the same grade left the school, and the members of the parent-teacher association resigned."

Moment driver nearly ploughed into group of children caught on camera
A local has hit out over incidents in the area. A Scots driver narrowly missed a group of children as they were crossing the road. Anti-knife campaigner from Wrexham receives police award
On Thursday, individuals and organisations from across North Wales were recognised for their outstanding contributions to community safety and wellbeing at the Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Awards. Among them was Danny Maddocks, whose tireless anti-knife campaigning began following the murder of his 34-year-old brother Craig in a knife attack at the Cambrian Vaults pub, Wrexham, on June 26, 2013. Nominated for the Volunteer Award for Safety, Mr Maddocks has worked closely with the Youth Justice Service, visiting schools, boxing clubs and gyms to deliver knife awareness sessions to young people. He also set up the On the Knife Edge Facebook page to help share the message and raise awareness. Mr Maddocks, who now lives on the Wirral, said: "The award is an honour. I started volunteering to try educating people of the dangers knives can cause. "Thanks to working in partnership with North Wales Police, the real award has been the impact – especially when people have surrendered knives as part of the campaign. "This means fewer knives on the streets and the less associated danger. "I just hope this work prevents another family going through the loss and suffering our family did. "I will continue to do all I can to prevent knife crime in our area.' Speaking of the awards event itself, he said: "It was brilliant, and I met a lot of lovely people. "It was really good to hear about other people's achievements on the night as well. "I took my mum and my wife to the awards event and it was touching at times. "I'm still quite surprised that I received the award, but it's very good to be recognised for the work I do. "There is a lot more work to be done."
