The thing that Novak Djokovic tried to do today is Carlos' natural game.
The variation, the drop shots, coming to the net. Novak can do it, but he would like to be as machine-like as Jannik Sinner.
Carlos Alcaraz will play very well within a comfort zone. I'm sure it will be an amazing final and I can't wait for it.

The way Djokovic played as a 38-year-old just shows me how far away Sinner is to his level at his peak. Best male tennis player to grace the game. To be the sixth best player in the world at his age is an indictment on the talent pool at the moment.

"It was such a special occasion for me playing against Novak in a semi-final of a Grand Slam.

"He achieved so many things. He is the best player in the history of our sport. Playing against him here is amazing.

Before this ends and we give Sinner his rightful plaudits. A word for Djokovic at 38 years of age, still fighting with the best young player in the world and battling like he's the same age. Too disliked in his time, he will be better recognised once he's gone.

It's fun, and not fun – Jannik Sinner looks forward to final with Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner says his blockbuster French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz will be 'fun, and not fun'. Italian world number one Sinner takes on second seed and defending champion Alcaraz in the first major final between the new generation of men's tennis superstars. It is a match-up tinged with extra significance after Sinner beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, with the 38-year-old Serb – the last of the old guard still just about standing – admitting it may have been his last Roland Garros. Instead it will be Sinner and Alcaraz who take centre stage in the first men's grand-slam final to be contested between two players born in this century. What a night yesterday. Big respect to @DjokerNole – it's always an honour to share the court with you. You are a true inspiration 🙏🏼 Reaching the final here means a lot to me, Paris is such a special place 🇫🇷 See you tomorrow! 💪🏻 Merci #RolandGarros 💚💙 — Jannik Sinner (@janniksin) June 7, 2025 'It's fun, and not fun, you know. It's both ways,' said 23-year-old Sinner of meeting the Spaniard, one year his junior. 'But I think we try to push ourselves in the best possible way. I believe when there is a good match, it's also good to play, you know. It's not only to watch, but also to play. It's very special. 'And the stage, it doesn't get any bigger now. Grand-slam finals against Carlos, it's a special moment for me and for him, too. 'He won here last year, so let's see what's coming. But for sure, the tension you feel before the match and during the match is a little bit different in a way, because we are both very young, we are both different, but talented.' It is an intriguing showdown between the two bright young things who have won the last five grand slams between them. Sinner, the reigning US and Australian Open champion, is on a 20-match winning streak at grand slams and, with Wimbledon on the horizon, could be five weeks away from holding all four titles. But standing in the way of the 'Sinner Slam' is Alcaraz, who has won their last four meetings including the semi-final here last year and in the final on the Rome clay last month, albeit in the Italian's first tournament back from a three-month doping suspension. Alcaraz is also bidding to become the first man to retain the title since his idol, Rafael Nadal, managed it in 2020. 'Jannik, he's the best tennis player right now. I mean, he's destroying every opponent,' said Alcaraz. 'I love that battle. But, you know, most of the time is just about suffering, being pushed to the limit. 'But my favourite thing is it gives you the feedback of how can I be better, a better player. I think that's important, and that's beautiful, even though if I win or not.'

Adam Azim's fight CALLED OFF just hours before opening bell after rival Eliot Chavez's ILLEGAL method to make weight

ADAM AZIM's showdown with Eliot Chavez has been cancelled just hours before the walk-ons. The pair were due to fight on the undercard of Callum Simpson's European title fight in Barnsley tonight. 2 2 Azim, 22, boasts an unbeaten record and secured the IBO light-welterweight title in February. He took Saturday's fight at short notice after beating former world champion Sergey Lipinets. But Chavez was left in hot water after it emerged he'd used a sauna to make weight. Promoters Boxxer said in a statement: "The British Boxing Board of Control has withdrawn permission for Eliot Chavez to face Adam Azim tonight in Barnsley following concerns raised by the Mexican Boxing Commission relating to Chavez's use of a sauna to make weight - a practice that is prohibited by the board." Azim immediately reacted on social media, posing an angry face emoji. One fan sympathised: "Sorry to hear that champ. Was looking forward to it." While another said: "This is what happens when you fight someone on like a week or two notice." Chavez went nine rounds with Harlem Eubank in 2022. And Azim was hoping to use the bout to show off his credentials in the division. The 22-year-old declared he would fight anyone on a week's notice - even two-weight world champ Devin Haney. Three-weight world champion Vasily Lomachenko retires after more than 400 FIGHTS in lengthy video Azim, 22, told Sky Sports: "I would fight Haney next week. "I just feel he's moving around more and doesn't want to initiate attacks. "He is a top-level fighter but I don't think he's the same fighter that he was before. "If he's running on the backfoot, throwing one jab every two rounds, why not? "For me I can fight front foot and back foot. "Haney, I think he's got enough power just to keep someone off, but I don't think he has that one-punch power. "But I think if I was going to fight him I think I'd beat him with speed." Tonight's main event at Oakwell sees Simpson face Zucco for the European super-middleweight championship. The pair are expected to ring walk in South Yorkshire around 9.30pm.

Novak Djokovic drops major retirement hint after French Open semi-final defeat by Jannik Sinner

Friday might have been one of the last times fans saw Novak Djokovic dance on the Roland-Garros clay, as the Serbian dropped a major hint about his retirement. Djokovic fell to a 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 defeat by Jannik Sinner in the French Open semi-final, the world No 1 teeing up a first ever Grand Slam final against his great rival Carlos Alcaraz. The defeat extended Djokovic's two-year Grand Slam drought, with the 38-year-old's most recent title being the 2023 US Open. Chasing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam, Friday's defeat also marked the end of Djokovic's 27-match winning streak at the French Open, dating back to his 2023 title. After the fact, Djokovic stopped to thank the Paris crowd before leaving the court, admitting he may never return to Roland-Garros. 'This could have been the last match ever I played here, I don't know,' said the world No 6. 'That's why I was a bit more emotional at the end. 'If this was the farewell match of Roland Garros in my career, it was a wonderful one in terms of the atmosphere and what I got from the crowd. 'Do I wish to play more? Yes, I do. Will I be able to play in 12 months' time here again? I don't know. 'That's all I can say for the moment.' Djokovic's wait for a Grand Slam will continue for at least a few more weeks, with his next shot coming at Wimbledon, which begins on June 30. Djokovic - who is chasing a record-equalling eighth title at the All England Club - confirmed he will participate at SW19, as well as the US Open in August. He said: 'Wimbledon and US Open, yes, they are in plans. That's all I can say right now. 'I feel like I want to play those two, for sure. For the rest, I'm not so sure.'
