Aussie celebrities look unrecognisable in forgotten TV commercial
They are among some of Australia's most famous stars.
But before fame came calling, these A-list actors were busy cutting their teeth selling products on the small screen.
They have since been showered with accolades and plaudits and, looking at some of these stars' earliest work, it's not hard to see why.
From spruiking soft drinks to swooning over snack foods, these future famous faces are proof that even the biggest stars had to start somewhere.
While their first forays in front of the camera may be relegated to the dustier corners of the internet, thankfully they still live on.
Here are a few Australian celebs looking almost unrecognisable in their earliest small screen appearances.
Before exploding internationally after her turn in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, Naomi Watts was a commercial veteran
Back in 1988, when Naomi was around 20 years old, she appeared in a very colourful ad for Cadbury's popular chocolate bar Crunchie
Naomi Watts
Before exploding internationally after her turn in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, Naomi Watts was a commercial veteran.
Back in 1988, when Naomi was around 20 years old, she appeared in a very colourful ad for Cadbury's popular chocolate bar Crunchie.
Looking almost unrecognisable, Naomi can be seen hanging out with pals in front of a milk bar before one exits with Crunchies for the gang.
As Naomi bites into the honeycomb confection, her outfit miraculously turns into a screen showing the future star showing off her moves at the disco.
The King Kong star also appeared in a commercial for tampon brand Tampax in the early '80s.

The future star also appeared in a very well known ad for lamb, in which she turns down a date with Tom Cruise in favour of a Sunday roast
She awkwardly deals with an array of puberty difficulties - her bothersome younger brother, her irritated complexion, but according to the advert, one thing that doesn't bother her is her 'time of month'.
Naomi would have been about 16 at the time that this advert came out.

Russell Crowe
Russell's face may be instantly recognisable these days, but that wasn't always the case.
Prior to his breakout role in 1992's Romper Stomper, the future Oscar winner was happy spruiking Coca-Cola.
Back in 1987, Russell starred alongside pro surfer Larry Blair in the ad, which was also promoting the Coca-Cola Surf Classic in Manly.
Russell played a gruff mechanic, and while he may have only had a few lines his acting prowess was evident.

As his scene partner explained the promotion, Russell grabs the can and says: 'Find the secret words in the bottom of specially marked cans and win the surf action pack, including a Nissan Navara.
He then comically looks into the can before announcing: 'Hey we've got a free Coke!'
Russell also starred in an ad that was part of a 1980s AIDS awareness campaign and featured the star playing Russian roulette with a very young Rebecca Rigg.
The Australian actress went on to marry and subsequently divorce fellow Aussie and The Mentalist star Simon Baker.
Cate Blanchett
She may have been the first Australian actress to be awarded two Oscars, but before fame beckoned Cate Blanchett was extoling the virtues of the iconic Aussie biscuits Tim Tams.
While looking almost unrecognisable in the ad, which first aired in 1994, there's no mistaking the star's high cheekbones and enviable complexion as she delivers her lines.
'Hey, look at this,' the earnest young actress says to her male co-star, her talent evident even as her career is in its infancy. '[It's] an old lamp, I think.'

Suddenly a genie appears offering to grant her three wishes.
After requesting 'a packet of Tim Tams that never runs out' the pretty blonde looks to be in ecstasy as she takes a bite of the treat.
The punchline of the 30-second commercial is her co-stars idiotic response when the genie offers two more wishes: 'Then we'll have two more of those'.
The ad lifted the profile of the now internationally renowned star and the striking blonde soon landing roles in Oscar And Lucinda and Elizabeth, for which she earned a string of awards and nominations.
Natalie Imbruglia
Before she was Torn, pop star and actress Natalie Imbruglia was busy convincing Aussies to tear into packets of the iconic snack Twisties.
The hitmaker, who left school at 16 to pursue her acting career, got her start in an ad that aired in 1992.
The commercial came on the cusp of fame for Natalie, airing the same year she began her initial two year run on iconic Aussie soap Neighbours.

A skywriter, miles above, notices Natalie on the back and proceeds to write: 'are they Twisties?' in the vapor trail.
The dapper pilot then parachutes down to enjoy the treat with the future star, before the duo drive off into the sunset.
Following her departure from Neighbours in 1994, Natalie moved to London and in 2014 Natalie admitted that her mother regularly sent her packets of Twisties in the post.
They stood her in good stead too, with the actress forging a successful music career with her breakout international single Torn.
The track peaked at number one on the singles charts in Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, and Sweden, as well as on three US charts, while hitting number 2 on the Australian ARIA charts.

Farmer Wants A Wife Spoiler: Farmer Jack's final pick LEAKED as season comes to an end
The sun is setting on the 15th season of Farmer Wants A Wife, but there's still time for a few spoilers. Dairy farmer Jack, 26, may have been the newcomer, but he's been decisive from day dot, whittling down eight potential matches down to two - Olivia and Sarah - quicker than you can milk an udder. Now insiders have 'leaked' who has won Jack's heart. While Olivia's chemistry with the farmer at the black tie party was undeniable, Jack had his eyes on Sarah from the get-go, taking her on the first 24-hour date. According to a FWAW insider, it seems the 29-year-old personal assistant is Jack's final choice. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Farmer Jack's final pick is Sarah, apparently,' the source told Chattr. While past seasons have ended with heartwarming updates and countryside lovebirds riding off into the sunset, this year's reunion promises fireworks, behind-the-scenes truths, and a few very awkward catch-ups. Unlike MAFS, the FWAW reunion will only feature the couples who made it to the end together. And the reunion - hosted by returning favourite Natalie Gruzlewski - won't just be a cosy catch-up. While it will centre on the successful couples, fans can expect more raw honesty and awkward admissions than ever before. 'I heard it was just the successful couples talking about whether they've moved or plan to move. Everyone was together at that stage as far as I've been told,' one insider told Chattr. However, Daily Mail Australia can reveal that producers are planning to include some of the biggest behind-the-scenes dramas in the special - including what really happened on Tom's farm. 'Producers were lovely, Tom wasn't,' a cast member told Chattr. 'He kept saying he didn't want to lead anyone on, but led everyone on except Georgie. It was clear as day. 'There were tears, there were walkouts. This wasn't your usual Farmer reunion – it felt more like a MAFS wrap party with pitchforks.' Farmer Wants A Wife continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel 7.

NRL player Matt Allwood who became a TV star suffers horror spinal injury in tackle gone wrong
Former Canberra Raiders and New Zealand Warriors star Matt Allwood is awaiting surgery after suffering a serious spinal injury during a match last Saturday. The 32-year-old - who also starred in the most recent season of Alone Australia on SBS - was badly hurt when he stopped a rival player from scoring a try while playing his first match for the Dora Creek Swampies. The club, which is located on the NSW central coast, has launched an appeal to help the father of three, who is currently unable to work. 'Matt Allwood - a proud father, husband and incredible football player took the field as a Swampie for the first time on Saturday against Waratah,' the club wrote. 'As Matt made an incredible try saving tackle, he unfortunately injured himself, sustaining a very serious spinal injury. 'Matt has an uncertain road to recovery, and is unable to work as he is still awaiting to find out the full extent of his injuries and awaiting surgery, this certainly will put a strain on the young family.' The former Raiders and Warriors player (pictured with his family) was badly hurt while he made a try-saving tackle The Raiders - where Allwood played in 2014 before switching to the Warriors - also directed their fans to the fundraiser on social media. Allwood appeared on Alone Australia earlier this year, with the show challenging Aussies to survive for as long as possible after being dropped off in separate wilderness areas where they are devoid of human contact. He lasted 16 days in the bush in the rugged West Coast Range of Tasmania as he competed against nine others. 'To be honest, I was rattled,' he said after returning to civilisation. 'It was too much being out there on my own away from my family with no contact.' After the show aired, his wife Ainsely posted a heartfelt message to him on Facebook. ''SO BLOODY PROUD OF YOU MATTY!!' she wrote. 'Anyone sitting at home on their couch watching, thinking they could do better, go on. APPLY!! 'Like to see you not eat for 10 days. 'Longest 1st tap out in the history of Alone Australia and 2nd longest tap out in history of the whole Alone Series!' Allwood's upbringing on a NSW cattle farm was great preparation for the show, and his Instagram account is full of videos and photos of him practising his bushcraft. 'Growing up, I didn't watch Bob the Builder - I was out hunting grandpa's rabbits,' he told the Warriors.

Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis sparks speculation she is pregnant with confusing Instagram post
Martha Kalifatidis sent fans into a frenzy on Wednesday after a confusing social media post had them questioning if she was expecting another baby. The former Married At First Sight star, 37, gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek of a fashion event she attended last week. The dinner, which was hosted by Aussie brand VRG GRL, welcomed the likes of celebrity hair guru Gabrielle Roccuzzo, stylist Jess Pecoraro and content creator Emily Yates. Martha, who already shares son Lucius with fiancé Michael Brunelli, stunned in a bright red button-up top, which she stylishly paired with baggy jeans, blue strappy heels and chunky Anna Rossi bangles on her arms. In the photo dump, the reality star shared pictures of the dimly lit restaurant, bowls of ravioli pasta and her glamorous friends - as well as a photo of a pregnant belly dressed in the same red cardigan. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Fans of the MAFS star flooded the comments section to point out the picture, speculating whether the photo was of Martha and if she was in fact pregnant. 'Who else ran straight to the comments to see if they saw what they think they saw....' one person wrote of the suggestive snap. 'Congrats if you're preggas…' one fan sweetly wrote, while another penned: 'The baby is coming.' Another sent Martha well-wishes, writing: 'Queen you're so brave and wish you all the besssssst with this pregnancy.' 'Did I just see a 'bump',' another asked. It didn't take long for one fan to figure out that the belly didn't belong to Martha, but rather her friend and influencer Oriwa LeFevre, who wore the same top on the night out. 'It's @oriwa everyone, you nearly got us Martha,' the fan wrote. This isn't the first time pregnancy rumours have swirled around the social media personality. In January, Martha addressed rumours she is expecting her second child in an Instagram post, giving her fans a glimpse at her idyllic vacation in Thailand with fiancé Michael Brunelli and the couple's young son, Lucius. In the caption, she told her fans she'd been offline as she was on holiday, after going two weeks without posting to Instagram. 'Hi everyone. I'm not pregnant (thanks for asking though),' she wrote in her caption alongside the series of images. 'I was just having some time off in Thailand. It was swell, missed you all,' she continued. In the photos, Martha showed off her figure in a black swimsuit as she enjoyed a soak with her toddler. She also kicked back on a boat, as well as working her angles in the shallows of the turquoise ocean.
