Kuantan boy reported missing found safe in Chukai
KUANTAN: A Pekan MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) student who was reported missing yesterday here, was found safe in his relative's house in Chukai, Terengganu this morning.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said Anas Baihaqi Miqdad Johari, 13, was spotted at the house at about 7am based on initial investigations and information from the family.
'The police have conducted investigations and interviewed the boy's family members who live in Kuantan and we are still conducting further investigations to find out how the student could have reached the location,' he said.
He told reporters after the monthly assembly of the Pahang police contingent headquarters here today which was also attended by his deputy Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob.
Yesterday, Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu was reported to have said the teenager was reported missing after leaving home without the family's knowledge, believed to be because he refused to return to the college hostel.
Meanwhile, Yahaya in his speech said the police had seized various types of drugs worth more than RM84 million with 4,839 arrests in the first four months of this year.
He said the amount increased compared to the same period last year, where only RM8.2 million worth of seizures were recorded while the total number of arrests was 4,810.
'A total of 190 cases were charged under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 from January to April this year compared to 220 cases for the same period. The police also succeeded in busting four drug trafficking syndicates involving six arrests through Ops Indera,' he said.
In addition, he said that the Commercial Crime Investigation Department had opened 817 investigation papers involving losses of RM26 million with the Kuantan district recording the highest number of 333 investigation papers.
Meanwhile, Yahaya said in the first quarter of 2025, a total of 8,183 accident cases were reported with 146 cases being fatal accidents.
'During the same period, a total of 99,840 summonses were issued compared to 63,194 summonses in 2024. The total compound collection was RM1.35 million for 2025 compared to RM1.39 million in the previous year,' he said.

'We arrested a man and seized 110 vape cartridges suspected of containing 2,880g of drugs,' Comm Hussein told Bernama at a media conference here yesterday. He added that the suspect then led police to a house in Kajang, where they seized MDMA powder weighing 21,452g, ketamine (4,722g), MDMA pills (641g) and Erimin-5 pills (1,960g). Following interrogation, police then arrested three men and a woman believed to be involved with the syndicate around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. 'In addition to the syndicate leader and his lover, who has lived in the country for the past 10 years, seven other suspects, all aged between 24 and 38, worked as food traders, personal shoppers and barbers. 'Six of them tested positive for drugs and three tested negative, while three had previous records related to crime and drugs.' Comm Hussein said the syndicate targeted entertainment centres around the Klang Valley to sell to individuals. He added that police also seized five vehicles along with jewellery, watches, luxury handbags and cash, with the total seizure amounting to RM341,449.16. 'This success is a result of the intelligence we carried out for two months. All suspects have been remanded for seven days, with the case being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.'

Third conviction sees Kuching junkie jailed 5 months, ordered caned

Judge Musli Ab Hamid convicted Tony Kuswadi Martin, 42, on his own guilty plea to a charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39C(1)(b) of the same Act. The Section provides for imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than seven years, and whipping of up to three strokes, upon conviction. Tony was also ordered to undergo two years of police supervision upon his release from prison. He was tested positive for the two drugs at the Kuching Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division office at around 2pm on June 2, 2025. It was informed that the accused has two prior convictions, in 2017 and 2022, for the same offence. Man nabbed for drug trafficking in Sibu, meth worth RM12,000 seized

SIBU (June 6): A police operation along Jalan Hua Kiew here on Thursday led to the arrest of a local man for suspected drug trafficking. Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the 29-year-old suspect was detained around 1.30pm after he was found in possession of 46 plastic packets containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine. 'The drugs had a gross weight of 60.3 grammes and estimated to be worth RM12,060. 'Also seized from the suspect was a sedan car estimated to be worth RM30,000,' he said in a statement today. Zulkipli said the suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, did not have any prior criminal record. The case, he added, is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death sentence or life imprisonment, and not less than 15 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death.
