Burglars caught posing as food delivery service in Southern California: Police
Three burglary suspects pretending to be part of a food delivery service to determine if a home was vacant have been taken into custody in Alhambra, police said Tuesday.
The incident took place in the 3300 block of Balzac Street and was captured on surveillance video.
'A suspicious individual posing as an Uber Eats driver pulled up and asked if the residents ordered DoorDash. We don't think she even knew which app she was pretending to work for,' the Alhambra Police Department posted on Instagram.
After determining that no one was home, the suspect signaled to her crew and waited outside as a lookout while they jumped a fence and forced entry.
'Just as they started grabbing stuff, they noticed APD outside and decided to play hide-and-seek,' the post read.
The lookout then tried to warn her partners by texting that officers were in the area, 'but she got caught herself,' police said.
Officers set up a perimeter and used K-9 unit 'Doggo' to help capture the suspects identified as Kennisha Powell of Lake Elsinore, Dejon Brown of Baldwin Park and Jerry Mullens of Los Angeles.
All three were booked on suspicion of residential burglary.

Bakersfield man accused of killing estranged wife makes first court appearance
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of killing his estranged wife last month at a house in east Bakersfield made his first court appearance Monday, more than a week after he was first scheduled to be arraigned. Rafael Estrada, 44, pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, four counts of willful cruelty to a child, spousal abuse, allowing or causing injury to an elder or dependent adult, recklessly evading a peace officer, driving a vehicle in the opposite direction of traffic and resisting arrest. They arrived and found Taylor Danay Dominguez Estrada, 32, with 'severe trauma,' according to sheriff's officials. She was declared dead at the scene. Family members have told 17 News that Rafael Estrada showed up to a party uninvited and slit his wife's throat in front of at least one child. Rafael Estrada was spotted by sheriff's helicopter driving away in a white truck before deputies arrived, officials said. Deputies located and chased the pickup until the pursuit ended about 10 miles away in the 9900 block of Ramos Avenue. Officials said a K-9 was used to take Estrada into custody. Police investigating gunshot after overnight incident in Elmira
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Elmira Police are investigating a shooting in the city on Monday that left a home damaged by gunfire, according to a release from the Elmira Police Department. Around 11:33 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, officers in the city were sent to a report of gunshots in the 300 block of Fulton Street. Officers got to the area but couldn't find any evidence that a shooting took place. Around an hour late, at 12:38 a.m. on Monday, June 9, police were sent to the 500 block of West Gray Street for another report of gunshots. Elmira police bring back K-9 program after receiving funding This time officers found shell casings on the ground and noticed damages to a home on Grove Street, but no injuries were reported, the EPD said. The shots were reported due to the city's new Flock Raven shot spotter system which can detect gunshots and notify law enforcement of their origin. VIDEO: Santa Fe man arrested after ‘brandishing' gun at gas station
SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – We're getting new video of an arrest at a gas station in Santa Fe over the weekend, where police say a man confronted someone with a gun. Police connected 40-year-old Jose Nava with a handgun found inside a Speedway, and they believe it was the same weapon used to threaten a person earlier that day. 'Mr. Nava, let me see your hands. Hands up, turn around,' said a Santa Fe Police officer. Video shows the moment inside a Santa Fe gas station when officers put Jose Nava in handcuffs. Earlier in the day, Saturday, Santa Fe police responded to a report of a man threatening someone with a gun at the Speedway on Siler Road and Agua Fria Street. The victim told police a white truck and a blue Dodge pulled up to the gas station. That's when they say the man in the white truck got out and started threatening the victim while holding a pipe. Santa Fe college in jeopardy of losing federal funding Police said the victim raised his hands and told the man he didn't want any problems. Then the man in the blue Dodge, who police believe was Jose Nava, pulled out a handgun and pointed it towards the victim. When the victim asked what Nava wanted him to do, he responded by telling the driver to get in their car and get out of there. The victim complied, got in his car, and left. He gave police the license plate of the blue truck, and also said there was a female passenger in the truck, too. But when police go to arrest Nava, he says, 'That guy that pulled a gun out here, bro.' 'So we're here to talk to you about that, but you also have a warrant out for your arrest, okay?' a Santa Fe officer told Nava. After the arrest, police executed a search warrant at the Speedway. The crime scene unit showed up to help find the brandished gun. Santa Fe businesses' frustrations grow as road project continues Along with a key part of the team, a police service dog. Within minutes, the police K-9 points out a potential location of the gun to his handler. Video later shows police pull out the weapon from a box of chips. 'My dog was right,' said the K-9 handler. Nava was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe adult detention center for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. 'Keep your hands up, don't move,' said one officer. Nava was also booked on an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in a domestic violence-related case. Santa Fe police said they found two handguns and a shotgun in Nava's truck.
