Grand Marsh woman gets time served for helping man convicted of Juneau County homicide

Yahoo23-05-2025

MAUSTON − A 28-year-old Grand Marsh woman pleaded no contest Wednesday to helping a man who committed homicide and then burned the body.
Crystal C. Teumer entered the plea to a charge of harboring or aiding a felon. No contest means she didn't admit guilt, but admitted there was enough evidence to convict her. Juneau County Circuit Judge Stacy Smith found Teumer guilty and sentenced her to 472 days Teumer had already served in jail.
As part of a plea agreement, additional charges of being a party to the crime of mutilating a corpse, being a party to the crime of arson and two counts of felony bail jumping were all dismissed but considered during sentencing.
Teumer's codefendant, Donald J. Dalberg, 48, of Grand Marsh, is scheduled for sentencing May 23 for first-degree intentional homicide in the Jan. 18, 2024, death of Floyd A. Burdick, 57, of Grand Marsh, hiding a corpse, being a party to the crime of mutilating a corpse, being a party to the crime of arson, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 10 counts of felony bail jumping. A jury found Dalberg guilty of the charges on April 14.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 17, 2024, Burdick told the person he lived with in Grand Marsh that he was going to pick up Teumer, because Burdick was afraid a domestic violence incident would occur between Teumer and her ex-boyfriend, Dalberg. Burdick's roommate became concerned and texted Burdick to be sure he was OK. The roommate received a text back that said Burdick was OK.
The roommate said he received a text message from Teumer's phone that said, "It's done, I hope you're not mad," early on the morning of Jan. 18, 2024. The roommate said he spoke with Dalberg on the phone and was told Burdick had dropped Dalberg and Teumer off in Mauston.
A person at Dalberg and Teumer's residence told officers that Burdick had picked up Teumer and Dalberg the evening of Jan. 17, 2024. The three had left in Burdick's vehicle. When police talked to Teumer, she said the three had driven around Juneau County, according to the complaint. Dalberg asked Burdick, who was driving, to stop the SUV because he wanted to give Teumer a hug, Teumer told police.
Burdick stopped the car and Dalberg got out, walked to the back passenger's door, opened it and gave Teumer the hug, she told officers. He then got back in the SUV and Burdick started to drive away. Teumer said she then saw a bright flash, heard a loud bang and then heard Burdick say, "What the (expletive)."
Teumer then saw two more bright flashes and heard two more loud bangs, according to the complaints. Teumer said she grabbed the steering wheel to keep the SUV on the road and they were able to get it stopped. Dalberg then pushed Burdick out of the driver's seat and began to drive himself.
Teumer told investigators she didn't know where the two drove, but they pulled into a driveway and got stuck in the snow, according to the complaints. Dalberg removed Burdick's body from the vehicle, put it on the ground and covered him up with snow, according to the complaint. They then left the area.
The couple went and got another vehicle and Teumer drove the second vehicle while Dalberg drove Burdick's SUV, according to the complaint. While they were driving, Teumer saw Dalberg throw Burdick's cellphone and a gun out the vehicle's window. They went to an area north of New Lisbon, Dalberg parked Burdick's vehicle and then Dalberg started Burdick's vehicle on fire, according to the complaint.
Dalberg then got into the vehicle with Teumer and they went to the New Lisbon Kwik Trip where Dalberg bought more gas, according to the complaint. The two went back to where they have left Burdick's body and Teumer said she saw a fire start in the area where Burdick's body was located, according to the complaint.
At 5:23 a.m. Jan. 18, 2024, deputies and the Necedah Fire Department responded to an area near Seventh Avenue and 28th Street in the Juneau County town of Necedah, for a report of a vehicle on fire in the middle of the road. When a deputy arrived, he saw the vehicle, which was found in the town of Clearfield, had been heavily damaged by fire. The vehicle was not occupied and there were no footprints around it. A license plate found near the vehicle showed it belonged to Burdick.
At 8:41 a.m. Jan. 18, 2024, a 911 caller reported a body in the area of Juneau County M, just north of 25th Street in the town of Cutler. Deputies found Burdick's burned body. Burdick had three gunshot wounds to the head and his lower left leg was missing. Officers found Burdick's prosthetic leg that appeared to have been thrown from the body, according to the complaint. Officers could smell gasoline on the body.
A medical examiner reported Burdick likely died from the gunshot wounds before he was set on fire.

Is Lincoln Lawyer season 4 releasing in June 2025? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 7, 2025, 19:30 IST Last updated June 7, 2025, 15:57 IST The Netflix legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer , based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, has kept fans on the edge of their seats with its gripping storylines and charismatic lead, Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. After the shocking cliffhanger in Season 3, fans are eagerly asking: Is The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 releasing in June 2025? Here's everything we know so far. The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4: Is It Happening? Good news for fans— The Lincoln Lawyer has been officially renewed for a fourth season! Netflix confirmed the renewal in January 2025, with production kicking off in February 2025 in Los Angeles. The series, which follows defense attorney Mickey Haller as he navigates high-stakes cases from his Lincoln Navigator, will continue with 10 new episodes. However, a June 2025 release for Season 4 is highly unlikely. Based on production timelines and Netflix's release patterns, let's dive into when we can expect the new season and what it will bring. The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Release Date Speculation While Netflix hasn't announced an official release date for Season 4, we can estimate based on previous seasons' production schedules: Season 2: Filming began in October 2022, wrapped in March 2023, and premiered in July 2023 (9 months from filming start). Season 3: Filming started in January 2024, ended in June 2024, and premiered in October 2024 (10 months from filming start). Season 4: Filming began in February 2025 and is expected to wrap by June or July 2025. Given this pattern, a release 9–10 months after filming starts points to November or December 2025 at the earliest. However, several reports suggest a 2026 release is more likely, as Netflix didn't include The Lincoln Lawyer in its 2025 slate. What Will The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Be About? Season 4 will adapt The Law of Innocence , the sixth book in Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer series. The Season 3 finale set up a dramatic premise: Mickey Haller is arrested after police find the body of a former client, Sam Scales, in the trunk of his Lincoln, framing him for murder. In Season 4, Mickey will face his biggest and most personal challenge yet—defending himself in court. Co-showrunner Ted Humphrey teased that the season will 'pick up right where we left off,' diving into the charges and adversaries Mickey faces. Expect a thrilling courtroom drama as Mickey, imprisoned and representing himself, fights to prove his innocence against a conspiracy that may involve new enemies or old foes. Teen lovers arrested in shocking murder of 67-year-old Maryland business owner, whose body was found in torched car

Two teenage lovers are accused of murdering a Maryland business owner and possibly burning him alive in his own car in a crime that shocked their small town last month, according to reports. Jonah Poole and Kylee Dakes — 18-year-old high school seniors who are dating — were arrested in Harwood Saturday, a week after the body of Poole's one-time boss Edward Koza's body was found in the flaming remains of his pickup truck outside his gardening supply store. The 67-year-old had been violently beaten over the head and his hands and mouth had been bound and taped, investigators discovered after dousing the flames. Cops believe Koza was assaulted while inside the store, Tropic Bay Water Gardens — where Poole worked briefly a year ago, according to Fox 45 — before the pair forced him into the back of his pickup. Advertisement 3 Kylee Dakes and Jonah Poole, both 18, were arrested Saturday for the brutal May murder of Koza Investigators also found a discarded Bass Pro Shops hat at the scene, and after canvassing surveillance footage from nearby businesses, got a hit when they saw Poole wearing a similar cap at a nearby gas station and driving Koza's truck. Poole was with his girlfriend Dakes at the station the evening of the murder, footage showed, and the two were seen smiling as they bought gasoline police believe was used to torch the car. The couple then returned to Tropic Bay and allegedly torched the truck, fleeing in a red Lincoln while the flames still burned, according to Fox 5. 3 Edward Koza, 67, was found dead in his torched car x/AACOPD 3 Koza's store, Tropic Bay Water Gardens, where his body was found in his torched pickup truck out front fox5dc Advertisement 'Caller reported it looked like someone threw something into the truck before it caught fire,' an emergency dispatcher said after a witness called in the fire to 911. Cell phone records also place Poole at the scene of the crime, and leaving just after. Exactly what motivated the teens to allegedly kill remains unclear, but Poole is also facing charges for a burglary at a nearby restaurant that happened just a week before Koza's murder. Advertisement 'It's shocking. I can't believe any 18-year-old could do such a thing,' a neighbor of Koza's told CBS News. 'Eighteen years old, just graduated high school? It just makes no sense.' Poole and Dakes are both charged with first-degree murder, arson, and assault. 'Sad for them that they ruined their lives,' a Harwood resident told Fox 45. 'But I think they deserve what they get and hopefully they get the maximum.'

Ford Recalls 1.1 Million Vehicles Over Faulty Rearview Camera

Ford (F, Financials) is recalling 1,075,299 vehicles in the United States due to a software malfunction that may freeze the rearview camera display, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The issue could distort the driver's view while reversing and increase the risk of a crash. The affected models span the 2021 to 2025 production years and include a wide range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles such as the Bronco, F-150, Mustang, Edge, Expedition, Transit, Mach-E, Escape, Ranger, as well as Lincoln's Navigator, Nautilus, and Corsair. Ford has received one report of a minor crash involving property damage but said no injuries have been reported. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with F. To address the issue, Ford will issue a free software update to affected vehicles, either through a dealership visit or via an over-the-air update. The automaker plans to send initial notification letters to vehicle owners beginning June 16, with a follow-up letter confirming when the remedy is available, expected between July and September. Ford has assigned recall number 25S49 to the case. Owners seeking further information can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website at which has listed the recall as number 25V-315. This marks the latest in a series of safety-related recalls for the Detroit automaker. Earlier this year, Ford recalled approximately 274,000 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles due to improperly installed front brake lines, which could reduce braking performance. In a separate safety development, Ford is also recalling 29,501 F-150 Lightning battery electric trucks from the 2024 and 2025 model years due to a potentially detached control arm that may cause a loss of steering. In November 2024, NHTSA fined Ford $165 million for delays in recalling vehicles with known rearview camera defects and for failing to comply with federal disclosure requirements. Regulators said Ford's failure to provide full information violated the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Act, adding regulatory pressure to the company's recent quality control efforts.
