British man missing in KL since last week

KUALA LUMPUR: The disappearance of Jordan Johnson-Doyle (pic) a week ago has left his family distraught.
The bespectacled, brown-haired Briton was last seen in Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar at 8pm last Tuesday, when he sent his best friend Owen a photograph of the pub's quiz night poster, reported the United Kingdom's Daily Mail.
The daily reported that the 25-year-old software engineer had been on a solo trip to the Mediterranean and South-East Asia while working remotely for about a year and a half.
The medium-built, 180cm-tall man arrived in Malaysia on May 17 and is believed to have been staying at Robertson Residences Bukit Bintang before vanishing without a trace.
Daily Mail quoted Johnson's mother, Leanne Burnett, 44, as saying that she first became concerned after failing to reach her son for their daily call last Tuesday. She spoke to him on May 26, talking about their usual work matters, adding that he sounded normal.
Her concern intensified after further attempts to get in touch with her son via phone and social media failed, with her son's phone believed to have gone dead since May 30.
According to Burnett, based on the 'Find My iPhone' tracking service, the phone was last located at a residential flat near Healy Mac's on May 28.
Burnett and the rest of the Johnson family have since posted on various social media sites for leads on the missing person.
'My son is missing in Kuala Lumpur. Please help us find him; all his family and friends are so worried. Please, please share share share.
'If you have any information, no matter how small, please DM me directly or WhatsApp on +44 7754718679,' wrote Burnett on a Malaysian missing persons Facebook group on May 31.
The distressed mother also told the daily that family members, including herself, as well as friends, are travelling to Malaysia to search for Johnson.
The family has already lodged reports with the British High Commission and the police and are appealing for public assistance in the search.

Russia urges US and UK to restrain Ukraine after attacks on bombers

FILE PHOTO: Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov attends the BRICS Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 28, 2025. Mauro Pimentel/Pool via REUTERS/File Photo MOSCOW (Reuters) -Moscow said on Wednesday that military options were "on the table" for its response to Ukrainian attacks deep inside Russia and accused the West of being involved in them. Russia also urged the United States and Britain to restrain Kyiv after the attacks, which Ukrainian officials have lauded as showing Kyiv can still fight back after more than three years of war. British and U.S. officials have said they had no prior knowledge of Ukraine's attacks on Russian nuclear-capable long-range bombers at military bases over the weekend. Ukraine also tried to blow up a rail and road link with Crimea on Tuesday, and Russia says Kyiv blew up a highway bridge over a passenger train late on Saturday. U.S. President Donald Trump's Ukraine envoy said the risk of escalation from the war "going way up" after the attacks on the nuclear-capable bombers. A week earlier, Trump rebuked Russian President Vladimir Putin over a fierce aerial attack on Ukraine. "We urge London and Washington to react in such a way as to stop further escalation," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who oversees relations with the U.S. and arms control, was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency. "All options are on the table," Ryabkov said, when asked what Russia's response to Ukraine's attacks would be. "This is a question for our military." Russia and the U.S. together hold about 88% of all nuclear weapons. Asked whether Russia thought the West was involved in the recent attacks, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the West supplied weapons, gave target coordinates, refused to condemn such attacks and actively incited them. "These are several areas that prove the fact of the involvement, both direct and indirect, and the guilt of the West for the terrorist attacks that are taking place against civilians and civilian infrastructure facilities by the Kyiv regime," Zakharova said. Kyiv has not commented on the bridge attacks. Each side has accused the other of carrying out acts of terrorism during the conflict and each blames the other for a lack of progress at peace talks. Trump was not informed in advance of Ukraine's drone attacks on Russia, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday. A British government official said the government was not informed ahead of time. (Reporting by Dmitry Antonov; Writing by Gleb Stolyarov; Editing by Guy Faulconbridge and Timothy Heritage)

[UPDATED] Police: Tracing movements of missing Briton led to Bangsar body discovery

KUALA LUMPUR: A police search for a missing Briton at a partially under construction condominium along Lorong Maarof in Bangsar led to the discovery of decomposed body there. Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood confirmed that police had traced the movements of the missing man — Jordan Johnson-Doyle — to the condominium about 4pm today. "We then launched a search of the entire building with a team comprising at least 30 policemen. "At around 5pm, a body was discovered in a partially submerged elevator shaft in a part of the building that was still under construction," he told reporters at the scene today. He said, however, it was too early to determine the identity of the body. Ku Mashariman said further action would be taken at the University Malaya Medical Centre pathology unit to identify the body as well as the cause of death. "As the body was found in a rather isolated area which was partially submerged, it will take some time and effort before members of the Fire and Rescue Department can remove it and hand it over to us for further action. "We will not be taking DNA samples from the body at the scene. All efforts to either identify the body physically or through DNA analysis will be conducted at UMMC," he said, urging the public to refrain from speculating on the case until they had identified the body. Asked if there was a possibility that the deceased individual whose body was found here had fallen into the elevator shaft, he said that possibility and all other angles would be investigated thoroughly by the police. Staff at the Bangsar bar where Johnson-Doyle was last seen confirmed he had attended a quiz night the evening he disappeared. One employee said the 25-year-old was present but could not confirm what happened next or who he was with. Another employee said he could not clearly recall seeing him and only learned about the case via media. Ku Mashariman had told the New Straits Times that officers had visited several locations in Bangsar believed to have been frequented by Johnson-Doyle. Statements were recorded from two individuals at those locations. Checks by the NST at several nearby residential flats — where Johnson-Doyle's mother, Leanne Burnett, claimed to have last tracked him — found no residents matching his description. Police had earlier issued a public appeal following Johnson-Doyle's disappearance, after he was last heard from on May 27. Speaking to the UK's Daily Mail, Burnett said she felt "numb" and "just wants to bring him home." His last known location was Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar around 8pm, where he had sent a photo of the pub's quiz night poster to his best friend, Owen. Johnson-Doyle, a software engineer, had been backpacking across the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia for over a year, working remotely for an American tech company. He arrived in Malaysia on May 17 after visiting Vietnam and is believed to have been staying at the Robertson Residences in Bukit Bintang. Burnett last spoke to her son on May 26. Those with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
