Victim recalls having gun pulled on him after Corvette crash on I-40
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Some scary moments for a Memphis driver after a gun was pointed at him following a crash with his son's Corvette last week along I-40 in Northeast Memphis.
The victim, who did not want to be identified, said his son called him after he got into an accident with the driver of a black Nissan Murano Friday morning at I-40 east and Sycamore View Road.
The father drove to the son's location. He said after he saw the driver of the Murano flee the scene, he followed him in his truck, but backed off when the driver pointed a gun at him.
'I said, okay, okay. I let him go because I had his information,' he said. 'It's Memphis. I don't like it. I only work and come home, and that's it.'
The man's son said the driver of the Murano swerved into his lane and hit the passenger side of his Chevy Corvette, causing about $3,200 worth of damage. A camera inside the Corvette captured the crash and the driver getting out of the black SUV.
He said after they moved to a safer spot along the interstate, they called the police. However, he said the driver told him he didn't have insurance or a driver's license and asked if he could switch places with his driver.
'Once we told him no, they kind of sat in the car for a while. I was on the phone trying to get the police, and all of the sudden I just see him take off. It wasn't casual, you could hear his tires screech,' said the driver of the Corvette.
Police released a picture of the black Nissan Murano with the temporary Tennessee tag QK8GRL9.
Mother, sons killed in I-40 wreck remembered by loved ones
The driver of the Corvette said the Murano has heavy damage to the driver's side back door. He said the driver of the Murano showed them the registration information for the SUV, but told him the vehicle belonged to the mother of his child.
The man behind the wheel of the Murano is facing a charge of aggravated assault. Call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH if you recognize the man or vehicle.

Las Vegas police seek shooter who robbed man at ATM: ‘He shot me for $40'
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police need help finding the young man who robbed and shot a man at an ATM earlier this year, leaving him for dead for $40. The shooting happened on March 10 at an ATM on North Las Vegas Boulevard near Cheyenne Avenue. Bryson Chen, 22, was driving home from work when he decided to stop and take out $40 in cash for gas. 'In the corner of my eye, I see the person walking up behind me, and that's when he pulled out the gun,' Chen said. Chen threw his wallet at the thief, who also took the $40 Chen withdrew. The young man then shot Chen once in the abdomen. The bullet entered and exited Chen's body, requiring two surgeries, Chen said. 'I pulled $40 for gas, and he basically took my wallet and $40,' Chen said. 'He shot me for $40.' The case is one of just a handful of unsolved shooting cases under the purview of Metro's new Violent Gun Crime Unit. The department launched the unit last fall to solve shooting cases where a victim survives. 'He's a good person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time,' Capt. Michelle Tavarez, who oversees the unit, said. 'We're hoping by getting the word out there, somebody will see this picture and recognize who this subject is. And we'll be able to get him off the streets and hopefully get the justice for our victim that he deserves.' Metro provided photos of the shooting suspect, who they described as a young Black man with dreadlocks and glasses. 'Live your best life, I guess, because you never know when you're going to die,' Chen said. Anyone with information was asked to call LVMPD at 702-828-3111.
