Red Bulls' Carlos Coronel has seven saves in scoreless duel with Brad Guzan and Atlanta United
ATLANTA (AP) — Carlos Coronel finished with seven saves for the New York Red Bulls and Atlanta United's Brad Guzan wasn't tested in a scoreless draw on Saturday night.
Coronel had six saves in the first half for the Red Bulls (1-1-1) — the defending Eastern Conference champions. He joined Luis Robles as the only Red Bulls goalkeepers to top 150 career starts through all competitions. He is one win away from 50 for his career. It was Coronel's 37th career clean sheet and his fourth against Atlanta United.
Guzan earned his 61st shutout for Atlanta United (1-1-1). The 40-year-old had 24 clean sheets in four seasons with defunct Chivas USA from 2005-08.
The Red Bulls lead the all-time series 9-2-6 while improving to 4-2-3 in Atlanta.
The Red Bulls will host Orlando City on Saturday. Atlanta United will host Inter Miami on March 16.

Cody Bellinger hit a two-run homer and added an RBI single as the Yankees headed into their first meeting against the rival Red Sox with their 16th win in 22 games. Judge ended the night with a .392 average. Six days after allowing six runs and eight hits at Dodger Stadium, Fried (8-1) had his fourth scoreless outing this season and allowed one hit for the second time this season. He also allowed one hit against Tampa Bay on May 2. Fried struck out seven, walked two and retired 15 of the final 16 hitters he faced after getting into trouble in the first. SafeSport issues permanant ban on high-profile gymnastics coach in latest chapter of 9-year-old case
DENVER (AP) — The gymnastics coach for a one-time Olympic alternate received a lifetime ban Thursday from the U.S. Center for SafeSport. Qi Han, whose case dates to at least 2016 and who had been under a temporary sanction for the past two years, was listed as permanently ineligible, subject to appeal, on the center's disciplinary database. Advertisement It said he was found to have committed emotional misconduct, physical misconduct and violated USA Gymnastics policies and bylaws. Han, a former gymnast on the Chinese national team, and his wife, Yiwen Chen, opened Everest Gymnastics in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2004. The gym quickly gained prominence within USA Gymnastics. In 2016, Han served as the coach to Olympic alternate Ashton Locklear. Locklear told The New York Times in 2018 that Han physically and emotionally abused her and at one point threw a cell phone at her. Han denied the allegations. Several other athletes who trained at Everest came forward over ensuing years, describing similar experiences with Han. As of Thursday night, Han was still listed as the co-owner and head coach at Everest. Emails sent by The Associated Press to multiple addresses at the gymnastics club were not immediately returned. Advertisement Details from Han's accusers started coming out the year before the SafeSport Center opened in the wake of extensive abuse committed by former gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar. The Times reported that USA Gymnastics handed Han's case over to the center shortly after it opened in 2017. In explaining the lengthy amount of time it took to resolve the case, the center said in a statement that it involved more than 80 witnesses, thousands of pages of evidence and transcripts and allegations that span decades. The center said it stood by the fairness and thoroughness of the process but also 'remains committed to increasing efficiencies in our process to help resolve cases more quickly.' The center's interim CEO, April Holmes, portrayed the latest development as a sign the center is making sports safer. 'We know it is not easy to come forward, so we thank those who shared their stories and helped bring resolution to this case," Holmes said. The match in Guayaquil offered few scoring opportunities for either team. Ecuador edged closer to its direct World Cup spot by maintaining second place in the round robin competition with 24 points. Brazil is in fourth place with 22 points. The top six teams in South America qualify automatically for the 2026 World Cup.
