Meghan Markle hits back in HRH title row and denies it breaks agreement with late Queen

Daily Record29-04-2025

Representatives for Meghan Markle have addressed the controversy surrounding her use of the HRH title , which seems to go against what was agreed with the late Queen. Meghan and Prince Harry renounced their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) statuses upon stepping back as front-line members of the Royal Family in March 2020. Yet, a recent podcast chat featured an image of a card from Meghan accompanying a gift that stated: "With the compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex". During her first-ever podcast discussion with Jamie Kern Lima, co-founder of IT Cosmetics, it was revealed that Meghan had sent Lima a basket filled with homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream "about a year ago... to see if that helps lighten my load", accompanied by the contentious card. Despite there being no formal legislation or signed agreements to forbid their usage, Harry and Meghan consented with the late monarch and senior palace aides that they would cease employing the term 'Royal' following their highly publicised departure, dubbed Megxit Day. The duo had even noted on their official website: "As agreed and set out in January, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer actively use their HRH titles as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020." A spokesperson for the Sussexes has refuted claims that Meghan uses her title Her Royal Highness in a commercial context, reports the Mirror . Sources close to Harry and Meghan have hinted that the picture used on the podcast by Jamie Kern Lima might have been taken prior to the launch of As Ever. They argue that even though they retain their titles, they do not use the HRH publicly but do use the style privately among friends and in personal correspondence. Buckingham Palace has also been contacted for comment. Meghan also shared on the podcast her appreciation for the renewed 'honeymoon' vibes with Harry since they acquired "a little bit of breathing space" post-royal departure. She conveyed that early on in their romance, they struggled to genuinely cherish each other's presence owing to the immediate plunge into "the trenches" due to media scrutiny. The couple embarked on their romance in 2016, tying the knot in 2018 and starting their royal responsibilities before electing to step back in 2020, which led to tense ties between Harry and King Charles and Prince William. Recounting those times, she expressed: "You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone has, like, butterflies. "Then we immediately went into the trenches together. Yeah, right out of the gate, like six months into dating. "So now, seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way, and that's why I feel like it's more of a honeymoon period for us now." The duchess lauded her husband for his enduring commitment to keeping the family safe. "He's just out there, just constant, like he's just going to do whatever he can to make sure that our family is safe and protected and we're uplifted and still make time for date nights," Meghan expressed. "He's also a fox. If you haven't noticed, my husband's very, very handsome. But his heart is even more beautiful," she continued. Meghan became visibly moved during the conversation about her children, Archie and Lilibet, revealing that she has devised a unique way of keeping memories alive for them by sending emails to secret accounts intended for them to discover when they grow up. "Before I go to bed, almost every night, I email them, like, here's your report card from today, or, oh my gosh, wasn't it the funniest thing this morning?" "Or here's a picture of you two having breakfast, or here's you playing. The things that you're not going to frame, the things that you're not going to put pen to paper in a journal, but which they will end up seeing at one point in their life, maybe when they're 16 or when they're 18. "I'll say, here's an email that I've been keeping for you. Here's everything and every moment that I wanted to tell you how much I love you and, like, how proud I am of you." This follows Meghan's unveiling of her Netflix programme, fresh podcast and lifestyle label As Ever. The initial offering from As Ever, featuring raspberry spread, floral sprinkles and herbal tea, flew off the shelves, but her Netflix lifestyle show With Love, Meghan faced a wave of negative feedback. Additionally, the duchess kicked off a new podcast series, Confessions Of A Female Founder, in April.

Love Island fans left in shock as 'hypocritical' Harry confesses to having an orgy with an entire women's football team

Love Island fans were left in shock during Monday's show when 'hypocritical' Harry confessed to having an orgy with an entire women's football team. Viewers saw the return of the Got The Receipts challenge that sees contestants slide down a conveyor belt, swipe their card and pick up a receipt, which reveals a fact about an Islander of the opposite sex. They then have to decide who they think the fact is about and kiss their chosen person, before finding out if they got it right. One receipt read: 'This boy has had an orgy with an entire women's football team.' The culprit was revealed to be Harry, with the girls exclaiming: 'It's Harry! I'm not sure we should be clapping for that.' Viewers at home were equally as shocked at the confession and slammed his 'double standards' on X. They shared: 'Harry is just a big gigantic red flag!!!'; 'And if I say Harry made that up because I can't see 11 women sleeping with him'; 'Harry is such a hypocrite?? Judging Helena for being a 'party girl' yet he has had an orgy with an entire football team?? What else is harry hiding? He is 10x worse yet degrading Helena?? The men this year are horrible'; '"The whole women's team" ok Harry someone's telling fibs'; 'Harry's acting like this and he's…thirty?'; 'Love Island just shows the double standards women face on a daily basis. Harry was judging Helena for being a bit freaky meanwhile he's slept with a whole football team.' The challenge took a disastrous turn as the boys cooked up an outrageous game plan which instantly backfired. Ben thought that Helena was the girl that was caught with handcuffs in her case while travelling, and Conor though that Toni picked up the phone while getting down and dirty because of a job. However, three of the boys decided to play their own game within the game. The rest of the group had no idea that Harry, Dejon, and Shea had got together and agreed that they would lock lips with the girl they fancied, rather than who they though the fact was about. Viewers at home were equally as shocked at the confession and slammed Harry's 'double standards' on X But later on in the episode their secret plan was revealed after Tommy pointed out that they all kissed someone that they were attracted to. Harry told him: 'We were all like, boys lets just forget the question and just say who you wanna kiss - so Shea was like I wanna kiss Megan, when he read it out, me and D said, "That's Megan!"' Tommy replied: 'Oh my God, f****ng hell! What do you think will happen tonight then? That will all come out?' The landscape gardener then decided to share the information with his girl Megan. She confessed: 'We f***ing knew it!' Tommy continued: 'Shea said, "When it's my turn say Megan" - I think that's out of order. I don't like confrontation, but I will stand up for what's right.'

Meghan teases ‘delicious surprises' as she restocks lifestyle brand

Meghan said the April launch of her As Ever products, including jam and herbal tea, had been 'absolutely extraordinary' and teased buyers they would only have to wait a few days for more items. In an Instagram post, the California-based duchess wrote: 'Oh yes, honey… sweet things await. Mark your calendars for June 20 at 8 a.m. PT – we're bringing back your favorites, plus some delicious surprises you won't want to miss!' In a newsletter, she also wrote: 'First off, a sincere thank you for making the debut of As Ever absolutely extraordinary. 'We had a feeling there would be excitement, but to see everything sell out in less than an hour was an amazing surprise. 'We are pleased to share that on June 20th, we're going live with the products you love – plus, some new delicious surprises.' Earlier this month Meghan said she had decided to 'just pause' restocking her brand, saying she wanted to wait until it is 'completely stable and we have everything we need'. She also spoke of the difficulties of building her firm and 'how many tears' she has shed behind the scenes on a bonus episode of her podcast featuring Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles. Meghan had suggested the 'scarcity mentality at the beginning might be a hook for people', comparing it to 'a sneaker drop'. But she feared it might be 'annoying' for customers, adding: 'I don't want you to eat that jam once every six months. I want that to be on your shelf all the time.' Meghan said: 'So for me at the moment, with As Ever, it was great. We planned for a year we get and then everything sells out in 45 minutes. 'Yes, amazing, great news. Then what do you do? And then you say 'Ok, we planned as best as we could. Are we going to replenish and sell out again in an hour? Or is that annoying as a customer? 'I'm looking at it saying 'Just pause. That happened. Let's wait until we are completely stable and we have everything we need'.' She added how people 'see all the flashy stuff and they see the product. But that end game… those behind the scenes moments, how many tears I've shed'.
