Mo Salah sets sights on new ambitious target after winning Premier League

Liverpool cruised to the Premier League title this season with Mohamed Salah instrumental in their success - but now the Egyptian forward wants to go further by lifting the Champions League
Mohamed Salah has set his heart on conquering Europe next season - and the world. Egyptian king Salah is eyeing the Ballon D'Or as he looks set to break more records after helping Liverpool run away with the Premier League title.
Salah, 32, is already on 46 goals and assists in a Premier League season - just one behind joint record holders Andy Cole and Alan Shearer - and wants to follow that up by targeting Champions League glory next season.

Liverpool superstar Salah said: 'So, I go again next year to break the records again! As a team, again winning the Premier League but now our priority will be more the Champions League but winning the Premier League would be so special.

'Just win the Premier League again and the Champions League. Hopefully more awards and records.
"It all comes together when the team wins stuff, like trophies then it comes easier to win it.'
Salah hopes that his individual success with goals and assists which helped Liverpool clinch the Premier League will also help him win the Ballon D'Or for the first time and be recognised as the best in the world.
The Liverpool superstar is among the favourites like Barcelona superstar Raphinha and Salah says it would be special for his fans on Merseyside and in Egypt.
When asked whether he wants to get his hands on the trophy, Salah added: "Hopefully, yeah.

"I would say that I have never had a season like this and winning big, big trophies so this is my best chance to win it while I'm in the club because it's been a crazy year, crazy season with trophies and it means there's a chance.
"It would mean a lot to me and to the people to win it. But again, I have had a great season and if it comes then it comes but if not then it's not in my hands.
"I've done my best through the season, winning the Premier League was such an incredible season with those numbers and the assists, hopefully it will help but we will see."

Hull name Sergej Jakirovic as new boss after reaching agreement with Kayserispor

The 48-year-old Bosnian joins on a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, after the Tigers agreed a settlement with Turkish side Kayserispor. Jakirovic had only been in Turkey since January, having previously led Dinamo Zagreb to qualification for the Champions League, and succeeds Ruben Selles, who was dismissed last month after Hull narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship. Chairman Acun Ilicali said on 'We are delighted to secure the services of Sergej. Sergej's our man. 🤝 Welcoming our new head coach! 🇧🇦#hcafc — Hull City (@HullCity) June 11, 2025 'We believe in the football that he will bring to the MKM Stadium for us and, importantly, he has proven himself to be a winner throughout his career. 'My dream for our club has never changed from the first day I took over, and I believe in Sergej as we look forward to the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship campaign together as one family.' Jakirovic's backroom team of Marko Salatovic, Marin Ivancic and Andjelo Roguljic join him in moving from Kayserispor, while first-team coach Andy Dawson and goalkeeping coach Erbil Bozkurt remain on the staff. A former midfielder and Bosnia international, Jakirovic began his managerial career with Sesvete in the Croatian second tier before moving on to Gorica, Maribor, Zrinjski Mostar and Rijeka. Hull finished the season in 21st place in the Championship, staying up at the expense of Luton on goal difference.

Dor Turgeman told to make Rangers transfer by ex-Celtic flop

And Berkovic - who had a disastrous spell at Parkhead after Celtic splashed out a then-huge sum of £5.75 million for the Israeli international back in 1999 under John Barnes - reckons Rangers would be a good option for Turgeman. Berkovic said: "Rangers and Celtic are both big clubs who play in the Champions League often... but also in a very boring league. Read more: "But the big difference between going to Scotland and say somewhere like FC Copenhagen is that Rangers and Celtic are on British TV every week. "So if you are a star for them, you are watched by English Premier League clubs every week. That's the difference between Scottish and Danish football. "The problem would be to adapt. I can give you examples of dozens of our players who moved to Europe, America and Japan... and disappeared. "It's not easy for an Israeli player to play in zero degrees for six or seven months. It's not easy to live there."

'He buzzes off playing for Celtic'

Former Celtic captain Scott Brown spoke to BBC Scotland about his former team-mate and pal Kieran Tierney returning to Glasgow: "He's an absolute die-hard Celtic fan."He just absolutely buzzes off playing for Celtic. "It was a hard decision for him to go, but I think it was the right decision. He waited until the end of the season, he left, and he knew he had a chance to go down to a huge, huge club."He went there, he played, and everyone loved him to start with. He went out on loan, played, and everyone loved him there."He was one of the quickest in the Premier League last year, over 10, 15 yards. He excites people, but it's a desire. Even in Scotland games, he breezes by players."When we were at Celtic and he came through, I thought, 'this guy's got something'. "You can see his willingness, his desire to go through. He broke his leg in a tackle to try and I loved that. I was like, he wants to tackle because it's missing for the young ones. They don't want a tackle, they want to just put a foot in and just feel. "The wee man has got absolute legs of steel and wants to go and fight. "He wants to go and fight for the cause and I think that's what Celtic fans love about him."
