Micah Parson's strong message to Cowboys as extension talks linger: ‘Cost them more'
Yesterday's price is not today's price for Micah Parsons.
The Cowboys' star and annual NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate told All City DLLS that the contract numbers in the handshake agreement that he and owner Jerry Jones previously reached are going to increase because of the delay in finalizing his extension.
'It's going to cost them more,' Parsons said.

The problem is that pass-rushers T.J. Watt (Steelers) and Trey Hendrickson (Bengals) held out of mandatory minicamp as they seek new contracts.
Parsons has seen the terms of the deal that Watt is seeking and it tops what he and Jones discussed, according to All City DLLS.
Therefore, Parsons has a new bar to clear.
The delay, as Parsons understands it, is in Jones reaching out to agent David Mulugheta to finalize the paperwork.
Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase is currently the highest-paid non-quarterback at $40.25 million per year.

The Cowboys' delayed approach to finalizing extensions last offseason with quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb cost them millions because the top of the market at every position (even running back these days, thanks to Saquon Barkley) only continues to increase with the inflated salary cap.
Instead of learning from their negligence, the Cowboys have taken the same tactic with Parsons, who has been extension-eligible since after the 2023 season.

Parsons has 52.5 sacks in 63 games and has made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons.
He participated last week in minicamp and is due $24 million on his fifth-year option.
If the extension is not done by the time that the Cowboys report for training camp on July 21, he reportedly will stage a hold-in where he shows up to avoid accumulating daily fines but does not take the field so as to avoid risking injury.

PARIS (AP) — Tadej Pogačar produced a dominant display ahead of his Tour de France defense by winning the Critérium du Dauphiné for the first time. Pogačar reacted with ease to Vingegaard's attack on the final climb to Col du Mont-Cenis in a tough race that Tour contenders use to fine-tune their preparations. After winning the opening stage, outsprinting Vingegaard and Mathieu van der Poel, Pogačar went on the attack in the mountains. He took charge by winning the sixth stage on Friday, climbing to the finish line alone to beat Vingegaard by 1:01 and take an overall lead of 43 seconds over the Dane. He captured the seventh stage on Saturday in a similar fashion, beating Vingegaard by 14 seconds and extending his overall lead to 1:01. Twins scratch Byron Buxton from series finale vs. Astros after being hit by pitch
HOUSTON (AP) — Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton was scratched from Sunday's lineup a day after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch. Buxton left Saturday's game against the Houston Astros with a bruised elbow after Hunter Brown's throw in the sixth inning of a 3-2 loss . Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said after the game they didn't believe the injury was serious and that Buxton was listed as day to day. Buxton — scratched about an hour before first pitch — had been scheduled to lead off and play center field in the series finale. He was replaced in center field by Harrison Bader. Sports Seriously Dak Prescott has already cemented himself as one of the top quarterbacks in Dallas Cowboys history. The numbers don't lie. He's on pace to surpass Tony Romo for some of the Cowboys franchise passing records. Prescott is 2,746 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns shy of claiming the statistical passing records for "America's Team." However, similar to Romo, playoff success has eluded the 31-year-old thus far in his nine NFL seasons. He's failed to lead Dallas beyond the divisional round in the postseason, as the Cowboys' Super Bowl drought reaches its 30th season in the 2024 season. Prescott hopes to change that in his tenth year. "I wanna win a championship," Prescott said via the Cowboys website. "The legacy and the things, and whatever comes after I finish playing, will take care of itself. I wanna win a championship. Be damned if it's just for my legacy, for this team, for my personal being, for my sanity – the legacy will take care of itself. I have to stay where my feet are." Like his predecessor, Prescott gets ridiculed for his lack of postseason success. Dallas has just four playoff wins since 1996, and Prescott owns a 2-5 playoff record. Prescott's regular-season winning percentage is 62.2%, which puts him ahead of Troy Aikman (56.9%) and Romo (61.4%). However, a quarterback's legacy is often formed in the playoffs. He signed a massive contract extension with Dallas before the 2024 season, tying him to the team through 2028. You can all but guarantee he will have his name next to the all-time passing records in Cowboys history by then, but he hopes to end a decades-long championship drought before he's done. Prescott played just eight games in 2024 after being placed on injured reserve with a season-ending hamstring injury that required surgery. In his last healthy season in 2023, he led the NFL in passing touchdowns (36) and threw just nine interceptions, finishing as the MVP runner-up to Lamar Jackson. This offseason, Dallas traded for wide receiver George Pickens, shoring up the room alongside All-Pro CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys hope the new addition will yield a return from Prescott like his 2023 output, and he's excited about the offseason moves so far. "It starts with personnel," said Prescott.
